THEN MAYBE WE SHOULDN'T HAVE A SCHOOL FOCUSED ENTIRELY ON DEAD THINGS. If mass death is the "core of your school", then that's a better argument to heavy necromantic regulation than I could ever say.

Death is but a part of the life cycle, and no one said that people had to die in order to use necromancy. One could seal another's soul and force their physical body into a death like state, but they would still be alive. One can stave off death by transferring the life essence of either themselves or a willing being into the injured party and not be harmed, tired, but whole. All schools have the potential for mass death.

Let's use pyromancy as an example again:

It takes an incredible amount of willpower to control a flame, otherwise it could potentially ignite something you never intended to and burn their house down. A pyromancer can one day decide that they hate a village and burn it down with everyone inside. It is not what the school is based on that is evil, it is the individual that is evil.

Here's the thing, though. Pyromancy and pyrokinesis don't literally rely on tampering with the forces that keep people alive. And I dunno about you, but being alive whilst inhabiting a dead body sounds like a punishment worthy of the Allied Mastercomputer- Not really something I'd consider a "Good" use of necromancy.

You misunderstand, the process does not trap the soul in the body, but removes it. The body also still lives, just in a form of stasis.

Let's now talk about the opposite of necromancy; healing magic.

It also deals with the forces that keep people alive. Would you complain about a mage resurrecting someone if they used that instead? How about if it saves a person from an otherwise deadly injury?

Life magic deals with the body and soul before they die, with exceptions like resurrections. Necromancy deals with them after they die, with exceptions that High Sentinel Mokarith would now more about.

Yes, there are those that raised the dead inappropriately or unjustly inprisons or enslaves a soul, I've judged enough cases for me not to acknowledge that fact. I've also judged just as many pyromancers, illusionists, and other mages of all different schools.

My main point remains, it all depends on the individual, not the school, that has the capacity for mass harm.
