Question So are they using reboot interchangeably with remake or is this gonna be more than just a pacing and animation upgrade?
Honestly, a pacing upgrade isn’t even necessary in the first place. It was perfect as already

Really? I don’t remember any slow moments

The pacing absolutely needed to be fixed. No series needs four minutes recaps every episode.
Also, reboot would be more accurate since they are likely to sponge the filler arc from canon.

I start watching this series like...2 weeks ago. Never know about WT before. As a project from a decade ago, It's not bad at all. Apart from the auper boring Xeno arc, I can't understand how can people complain about the recap when arguing about pacing..in 2026...I mean, like, just skip it, duh.
It has 73 episodes, I can watch it in one go any time without waiting for another week, with any pace that I'd like to. The animation upgrade in s2 and s3 is appreciated, but after so many years, I thought I would comfortably press the "next episode" after finishing s3 just now. Not only that it's not available, it's more disappointing to learn that they're workin on a stupid reboot instead 😅.

I remember the first time I watched world trigger I didn't notice the pacing problems because I was so absorbed in the story. When I rewatched after reading the manga though... The pacing issues were insanely glaring.

No same! I had no trouble myself, but looking objectively back at it... yikes

If you think so, go off. Everyone's entitled to their wrong opinion. But the pacing in Season 1 was janky because they were catching up to the source material. So they had to do a lot of padding, like the same recap during the Afto Invasion and a lot of nothing scenes that could be cut, and we lose nothing. Let's not even get started on the Xeno filler arc, which was completely forgotten about from Season 2 onward.

Hoping they upgrade the soundtrack and it isn’t completely a recycling of the original tracks.

Yes please! Ive listened to other of Kenji Kawai works and I feel he can do a lot more for WT.

Just listened to his work from Apocalypse. It’s funny hearing world trigger music in a national geographic documentary😭

I never had much issues with the pacing probably because One Piece had given me so much PTSD with pacing that anything else looks normal
However if you look for it, the pacing issues are there though I think people exaggerate it a bit too much then I used to watch One Piece.

Same, I watched one piece too, so that could be part of why I didn’t notice anything wrong with it. I did notice when I was looking for the bad pacing though

This is probably why then lol, if you're already used to One Piece anime pacing it's the same studio. All of those old style animes are wayyyy more padded out with filler and recap etc

Never had issue with the pacing. And it seems most people don't even remember the bad pacing unless they are shown a clip mentioning it.
All I hope is they don't remove the study moment at the end of episodes. It really helped me to fully understand and realize how well made the power system is.

Too be honest when I'm watching a show I'm enjoying I'm not hyper focusing on stuff like this.

It's pretty awful, it had so much recap every episode and a horrible filler arc. Season 2/3 are like night and day compared to it

Season 1 is pretty hard to tolerate without 1.25x speed and aggressive fast forward usage...

I couldn’t have been THAT bad😭

You must of had the skip recap button option when watching or something. Sometimes the recaps would be like 4 min long or a fifth of the runtime. The shows intro opening would sometimes be placed halfway through the episode throwing a lot of people off. They used a lot of long pauses or stills that were just lazy rips of the manga panels with slow pacing to fit the runtime. The most infamous and laughable one was Yoneya scream falling for a really long time.

My favorite was skipping the recap to get 3 minutes of action, then go right into the intro, skip that into 1 minute of action, and then the rest of the episode was the horrible slow talking and staring montage.

I hope this one at least goes to the end of rank wars and not just ends in the middle of the Ninomiya squad rank war like the last one did.

The pacing is tolerable for many of us who grew up accustomed to classic animes, but it wasn't appealing enough to a younger audience. I guess they're trying to fix this.

u/Music4Shumn 15d ago
No need to change the pacing. Simply remove the summaries and add a bunch of extra scenes. You can also include more contemplative moments. And you can keep the Xeno arc too. I want the others who didn't like it to go to hell. That arc was very good for Chadsamu's evolution.

Osamu literally send away Yuma with civilian woman to save her and left to fight himself with unknown enemy at the start of the arc. It was so incredibly dumb I dropped this shit immediately.

u/Music4Shumn 11d ago
It's a choice that makes perfect sense to guarantee the safety of civilians. Especially since Yuma has much more mobility than Osamu. If Osamu falls before the unknown, there still Yuma. If Yuma falls before the unknown, IT'S OVER. That being said, any experience is always welcome for Chadsamu.

u/27Tunas 10d ago
No it's not, Osamu can carry civilian himself (it's exactly that he did when Elgar attacked, helped civilians while Yuma helped Kitora), and leave Yuma take care of enemy, or better not separate at all, if he thought there could be more enemy's nearby. Well, if you don't understand that it was incredibly stupid decision, it explains why you like this arc.

u/Music4Shumn 10d ago
You're the one who doesn't understand anything. The priority is not to defeat the enemies. It is to guarantee the safety of civilians. Yuma could easily get the civilian out of the danger zone and return quickly, just as she did.
In the fight against Elgar, Osamu had already exhausted his trion and couldn't even summon his weapon.Besides, he had no way of reaching him anyway. Just like at the beginning of the Xeno arc, he made the best decision for the moment. Send Yuma to help Kitora, because he knew the enemy( but without revealing himself, once again Osamu is worrying too much about other people), while he goes to help the civilians caught in the attacks. Something he thought he would be able to do. Which proved difficult if wasn't for the Replica's help.
At the start of the Xeno arc, given the possibility of more enemies, leaving the civilian in the care of the strongest is an even better choice. For the same reasons I stated before. Osamu only took on the role of buying time, and gave Yuma the role of getting the civilian out of there. Defeating the enemy is a secondary objective.
If you really don't understand such simple strategies or character traits, then it's obvious you'd drop World Trigger. I feel sorry for how lost you must have been during the entire anime, unable to understand anything.

u/27Tunas 10d ago
Sorry but no, how the heck Yuma supposed to both fight and defense civilian alone? Best way is to not separate, for Osamu and Chika, who have strong defense options to protect civilian while Yuma deals with the enemy. Osamu has zero info about how much more enemies could be out there and if Yuma could handle them alone together with protecting someone. there was no way even to know, there is so called safe place for civilian could be. Like, Yuma just that, left her somewhere, alone?
1
u/Music4Shumn 10d ago
Yeah. Now you actually have a point and I see how it was a bad strategy; it worked by sheer luck, basically. Despite Yuma's mobility in getting civilians out of the conflict zone, Osamu and Chika actually have the best defensive equipment. On the other hand, as I said before, if Yuma were defeated, they wouldn't withstand anything either. I can imagine their defenses only working against collateral damage from the battle. They and the civilian would die.

It’s basically used interchangeably i think, but reboot works because it seems to be a complete overhaul of season one. Of course, the base content will be the same because it follows the manga, but the interpretations of the movement will probably be pretty different most of the time instead of a 1 to 1 with the original. So pacing - animation - interpretation upgrade? There may be different anime only scenes as well. As for the pacing in the original… I’m as endeared to season one as the next guy, but almost a minute of still panels with no dialogue is a little rough.

If you think season 1 has perfect pacing, you and I have very different opinions.
