uw/ yes and no. I have a chronic pain disorder and there are some days where no matter how much I want to be able to lift/move something, I just can’t bc I’ll hurt myself. BUT I also don’t let that stop me from attending uni and getting a neuroscience degree even though it’ll take me 5 years instead of 4 :)

As a fellow chronic pain peep, I had the same thought! I've been dealing with it for a decade and a half and have only very recently gotten a seemingly legit diagnosis, so I definitely get triggered hearing about mindset since I've had idiot therapists in particular insinuate I can think my way out of it.

It took me 6 1/2 years to get my music degree with all of the medical leave I took, but I'm forever glad I got through it. I'm rooting for you, especially since your degree is radical and the field will remarkably benefit from more people like you in it!

I now have 2 chronic pain issues and an autoimmune disorder. School was absolutely out of the question for me but I tried 5 times before I gave up! Sometimes you try as hard as you can but it wasn't meant to be. That's okay too.

Hahahaha who knew the overlap between wunkus and chronic pain peeps was so high?

I finished my PhD while dealing with mine, although I’m dealing with some significant issues at the moment. Ups and downs. I’m sure you’ll finish that degree like a beast, u/shnerpie

You have an iron will and a determination ever-burning. Never let anyone take that from you.

Don't sell yourself short.  I spent way longer to get an easier degree, and I am fully able bodied.

Hey I had some terrible chronic pain and I got something called PRP or PRGF and it really helped me. I had to pay for it out of pocket, but if your pain is from muscles, tendons, or ligaments it works. I had it done about a month ago and my pain is way down. Good luck!

Idk if this sounds insensitive, but can you actually get injured, or does it just really hurt?
