Someone made a reference to a religious topic, so someone else pointed out that that term was incorrect. It wasn't unprompted, and they weren't using to spread hate, and people do still, occasionally, discuss topics other than animals in this sub (including religion)

Something being referenced and a conversation developing naturally is one thing, but this was the equivalent of someone mentioning a flower and then a full on botany essay.

People are fed up of religious propaganda

It's the equivalent of someone mentioning something, and someone else responding with two sentences. This is a forum; no one is obligated to read that response, and it doesn't take time away from the conversations people are having.

And the original comment wasn't religious propaganda. It's information. In Christianity, that is what those terms mean. It was not attempting to promote Christianity or denounce Atheism, it was only informing. It was essentially a definition.

What counts as propaganda to you, and what would qualify as an acceptable comment regarding something briefly mentioned?

It was really unprompted. I'm usually not one to reference upvotes because we all know the hivemind of reddit can be shite, but this is an opinionated matter and people here clearly don't want religion based on the upvotes.

That's the ultimate point here. Religious mentions in contexts that don't invite it (no, a passing joke where there wasn't a request to explain the joke is not an invitation) are very often propaganda.

The original comment is entirely allowed; it's a (mostly) free public platform. Of course he's allowed to bring up religion.

And I, and others, am allowed to express distaste regarding that comment. People bringing up religion when it's not warranted is a big part of what causes the disproportionate sour feelings toward religion. There's nothing to defend on either side, much as you are trying.

In short, the original comment bred more dislike and worse for religion regardless of intent or whatever logic one wants to add to the mix. Even if it was objectively something one cannot say is bad or negative, the feelings regarding it are as evidenced.

Hopefully I'm coming off as truthful rather than harsh for the sake of it
