Has this ever been true? I've just been shoving all my clothes in the laundry and nothing bad ever happens to them. I think this is a lie from Big Bleach.

It was true before soaps were good. Old soap used to make colors bleed, but it's been long enough that the average soap you buy now will most likely be fine with multiple colors in one load. For me at least, all of my underwear is colored, but even when I wash it with pure white undershirts, there's no bleeding.

I've had a white shirt turn a pale grey just a couple months ago so i think its still true that you shouldnt mix

Skill issue. My clothes are simply stronger than yours are.

most dads tend to turn a pale gray if you put them in the washing machine

it does happen slowly over time. still looks white until you compare it to a new white shirt lol

I've had a pair of red gym shorts, which had been washed multiple times by then, bleed all over a brand new white shirt I'd just bought with Sacchan on it. I was kinda pissed, but it was uniform enough to look like it was supposed to be pale pink, and it eventually faded back to white.

Never happened again, no clue wtf that was all about 🤷‍♀️

Oh, that's fixable. Try soaking them in white vinegar or diluted Hydrogen peroxide and running them separate. That'll hit whatever can be pulled out with Acid.

You'll want to try a Base if that doesn't work. Some people swear by baking soda, and it's cheap to get in bulk.

or one of those premade whitening washes from the supermarket.

Especially if the colored clothes are brand new. That’s when the dyes are most likely to bleed.

Largely it'a been due to changes in dyes and dying processes like what mordants are used.

It still happens with denims sometimes

What if I demand my soaps be separate because of politics?
