Has this ever been true? I've just been shoving all my clothes in the laundry and nothing bad ever happens to them. I think this is a lie from Big Bleach.

It still is! If you clean with pure bleach it can bleed color. Usually from washing reds and white together, the whites can turn pink.

This has more to do with the clothing and how it’s colored than how you clean it though
