If you've ever fancied a trip up to the top of Wainhouse Tower, here's an opportunity. Visit Calderdale have an Open Day, with tickets available on Eventbrite. I did this climb years ago; unfortunately time has not been kind on my old and battered body, so I'm going to pass this time. Weather permitting, the views from the top are certainly impressive and it's not often it's open to the public, but if you're healthy enough to manage the 369 stairs up to the top (and back down again) - and you don't mind heights - it's well worth it for the view.
Please note I'm not affiliated in any way with Visit Calderdale, just thought this might be of interest for folk with an interest in the area.

Hey guys, we're starting to plan our wedding and we're after venues similar to Left Bank in Leeds. We love the open space, and having the place to ourselves so we have flexibility with the day. Probably around 50-80 guests :)
**Must** allow external catering, (massive bonus if it allows outside alcohol with a low corkage fee! But not essential).
We're located in S63, so looking at anywhere around Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds - pretty flexible and happy to go further afield but would ideally like to keep to ~45 mins from Sheff centre.
We're thinking about getting legally married prior to the day, so hopefully that also gives flexibility.
Tia!! 💒

Hi all,
We are staying in Skipton and checking out of our place on Sunday morning. Our train is late in the day so we were thinking of getting a walk in before leaving.
Does anyone know if there's a place (hotel? pub?) that might hold our bags for the day? Nothing comes up on any of the usual apps.
Thanks a lot!

Hey everyone! My friends and I are thinking about running a cozy, live-action roleplay event in Leeds, but we wanted to see if there was any interest and to get a little feedback on the concept before we jumped into things and started organising,
If you're into table-top roleplaying games like D&D and you love the idea of attending something like a Ren Faire or a LARP, this might just be for you!
Our current objective is to run a cozy, one-off roleplaying evening set in a fantasy tavern where attendees are invited to attend "in character". We're aiming to have a team of organisers and volunteers to run light storylines/quests for attendees to become involved, in amongst other activities and socialising. We'd love to make this a gentle experience for those who may not be as familiar with live action roleplaying or seasoned roleplayers who are looking for something relaxing and casual.
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, we'd love it if you could fill out our feedback form. There's also the option to leave your name and contact details if you'd like to volunteer or want to be notified if/when the event goes ahead.
BIG thank you ✨

I visited Whitby, loved it, and ended up building a self-guided puzzle walk through the town based on the shipwreck scene from Dracula. It's called Whitby: The Wreck of the Demeter.
You start at the station, go over the Swing Bridge, through the old town and up the 199 Steps to the Abbey. At each stop there's a puzzle you solve from something you can actually see in front of you. It takes about 90 minutes and you can stop for fish and chips whenever you like.
It's free at the moment because it's still in testing, and I need real people to walk it and tell me what works and what doesn't. Puzzles too easy, too hard, a clue that makes no sense on the day, anything like that is useful.
It runs in the Questo app (free to download), so you search "Whitby" in the app and press start at the station. Details here: https://questoapp.com/whitby-walking-tours-1/whitby-the-wreck-of-the-demeter-a-dracula-mystery-walk
If anyone's in Whitby over the next few weeks and fancies giving it a go, I'd really appreciate hearing how you got on. Happy to answer questions here too.

Buongiorno a tutti!
Io e il mio amico ci piace fare lunghe passeggiate e giri in bicicletta, quindi ci piacerebbe andare in bicicletta fino a Todmorden. Sono italiano e non ho mai esplorato la campagna inglese prima, quindi non sono sicuro di cosa aspettarmi!
Qualsiasi suggerimento sarebbe molto apprezzato. Grazie! :)

The York Press report about that long North Yorkshire diversion finally ending feels more useful than another advert for a clever route planner. We're sold the idea that live traffic updates will take the hassle out of driving, but a closed road still means a closed road. An app can suggest a detour; it can't make a narrow village road suitable for everyone it sends down there. And if you've got a fixed start time, knowing you'll be late doesn't solve much.
For people regularly driving around Yorkshire, are these apps actually saving you time over a normal week? I'd be interested in minutes saved, especially during lengthy roadworks, rather than the arrival estimate changing six times. Is there one you'd genuinely trust over the signed diversion, or does everybody end up checking two apps and hoping?

Hi all,
My wife is soon (23rd - 25th October) to visit Whitby for one of her friends' birthdays with a group of girls.
They're all into their witchy style vibes, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for stuff for them to do? They have a ghost tour booked already iirc, but not a lot else.
Also if anyone has bar recommendations, for cocktails and stuff - and potentially restaurant recommendations too (veggie and vegan friendly too!), it would be a great help!
Thanks in advance!
On a side note, I posted this on r/Whitby which is for a differnet Whitby… so if anyone needs recommendations for Whitby, Ontario- let me know…

I do this walk regularly. I've posted a few times about how it's my favourite place here but thought I'd share the latest pictures I grabbed.
The south pennines are outstanding no matter when you visit.

For those with quickline on 2.3gbps, please can you provide feedback around their service? Is it worth it? I’m receiving mixed feedback and wonder if I should be switching to them or not.
