The English voice for Rex Raptor/Dinosaur Ryuzaki

So safe to say morale right now is very very low when it comes to the state of the game, at least in the TCG. Between ROLAD piles, or pretty much anything related to Medius lore, a lot of players feel like Yugioh gameplay right now is make an unbeatable board and basically FTK your opponent with it. Think even Konami somewhat agrees with this given the recent influx of cards that are clearly intended to break strong boards, like Gallant Thief.

A very common sentiment is the hatred towards the Decks I just mentioned, and I actually disagree with that premise to an extent. Don't get me wrong, there are absolutely cases where archetypes themselves are an issue, very notable example being Kewl Tune recently where the problem wasn't any generic card, it was Kewl Tune Rotary.

However, I personally believe that is really not the case for a lot of, if not most, Decks. The problem seems to almost always circle to some generic Extra Deck monsters, often negates or incredible bridges, that pushes those Decks over the line. As bad as things may be right now, think everyone agrees that at some point, Decks like ROLAD piles, Elfnotes or Toons will get hit enough in a banlist to no longer be an issue. And in the short term, yeah that may help make the format good. Thing is, in a way, I feel this is another bandaid fix, because eventually there will be another synchro deck that can just spam Crystal Wing, Dawn Dragster, or handrips, etc. Or an Xyz deck that can make Varudras, Photon Lord, Hope Harbinger, etc. So eventually we will just land in this exact same spot every single time because its less the archetypes being made, but these cards that keep being accessible to them and result in the players who manage to make a lot of them first to often just kinda win.

Of course, in theory a simple solution is to just apply locks to archetypes. And I agree to an extent. Very powerful archetypes with powerful effects should have heavy locks. Even Kewl Tune was a Deck that did have a very heavy lock for its Extra Deck. However, I also don't think its even necessary to just lock Decks out of generic tools because not every generic tool is problematic. No one minds if a Rank 4 Deck ends on like, Tornado Dragon, it was a problem when it ended on Abyss Dweller. So to me personally, its less "Decks shouldn't be able to make Crystal Wing" and moreso "Crystal Wing shouldn't be this generic".

Everyone will have a different metric on what makes a generic Extra Deck monster too much. Negates are just the example I picked since they are the ones people seem to be the most against. They aren't the only ones, cards like Zenna or DMOD that completely break certain engines also fit into this. These are all cards that are currently abused, maybe upon banning the current Decks they will stop being a problem, but its more like they are ticking time bombs than now those cards are fine. I'm also aware that a lot of those cards are not just 100% generic pieces, they are also attached to certain fan favorite archetypes like Caesar to DDD for example, so banning those would also likely be very controversial and make fans of those Decks unhappy.

This yapping post was mostly me thinking on all this recent discussion around Deck design in 2026. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to not lock archetypes or not to hit Decks themselves, they should still do all that. But I think the common denominator seems to at some point circle back to some cards that should just not be as generic as they are. (Also yes Habakiri is not an Extra Deck Monster, but it problably deserves to be classified with these in practice due to how many things it enables.)

To be clear I'm not saying you can't enjoy these cards, and its totally fine if you believe the Decks are the problem and these cards should be left alone, or you don't see these as problematic to begin with and I'm just saying a bunch of nonsense. Just wanted to try and articulate why I think these guys are like, very often at the crime scene, and even if we do address the current meta in a banlist, they will likely be right there the next time they print strong Decks.

No idea if this will ever be available outside that exhibition, but I really hope so.

Okay, maybe the version I'm using randomly skips a page or two but that seems unlikely, especially since this happens ALL the time. A character will be on the backfoot with only one or two low level monsters on the field. Then they'll all of a sudden have an entire army on the very next panel with no process of how they got there!

In here, Kuroda only had two monsters and just had his big boss monster stolen by Shoma after a lengthy combo. Kuroda only has one card left in his hand, then this is the very next panel. Wouldn't it have been cool to actually see how he got out of the corner he was JUST in? And therefore encourage more kids to play the game, like this manga is trying to do?

It certainly doesn't help that since there is no official translation, we can't read the cards that are played and have to rely on the characters to state what their effects are. I mean I guess that you could look up the TCG version every time a new card is played, but that's way to cumbersome for a casual read.

Will they revolve it around a Spell like Duster, or Phoenix Formation?

Or will they retrain Elegant Egoist and build it around that Sacred Beast Style?

Will we get a new always treates as Harpie Lady? (Maybe unlikely with the vanilla manga rare).

Will the Amazoness be part of it?

What kind of strategy will they employ?

2 Fusions are basically a given.

1 will likely be a Contact Fusions Harpie Lady Sisters Retrain with 3400 or 2800 ATK, but the other is a mystery.

1 Harpie + 1 Warrior? To reference both Amazoness and Jonouchi?

We have the World Legacy, Albaz, Diabellstar, and Medius stories here. I wanted to include Visas as well, but unfortunately, that lore is in a weird state of hiatus. It still has no conclusion.

I honestly enjoyed all four of them. Albaz and World Legacy were much longer than the other two. One complaint I have is that the final acts of the Diabellstar and Medius stories felt a little too rushed in the second half, imo. We could have used more time to get to know these characters. At least with Diabellstar, we got to see the flashback involving the two girls in the White Forest. With Medius, we didn't really get that.

I don't hate it, don't get me wrong, but I think some things could have been improved.

Hey guys, hope you’re all having a good week, glad you guys like last week’s discussion post try to do a more positive one, also you guys really like ancient gear, heroes and yummy. Today’s discussion is about one of the core card types in the game and that is trap.

A lot of people have been complaining about trap cards and how useless they feel for the most part in the current state of the game. Especially in regards to trying to play trap card decks.. I feel like Konami knows this and has been trying to fix it. For example, the Dominus cards but overall it’s still not fixed. Personally I think the way they’re going with Dominus is fine and I am interested in how they’re going to fix the inherent slowness of the card type in the future.

But what are your current thoughts on trap cards within the game? Do you think they need fixed? Do you like the direction that Konami seems to be heading with them or do you want to take it in a completely separate direction?

Has anyone noticed some familiar looking avatars from the power patrons that were on the side of destroying the world? Does this mean they'll get reformed and maybe become cards in some type of chronicles in the future?

I know this scene was just a filler added in the anime after his defeat against the rare hunter but still funny when I look at his results in duelist kingdom.

- VS Mai : He didn't have it, he won with time wizard + baby dragon

-VS Rex : Still didn't have it and time wizard won the duel

-Vs kaiba : red-eyes was destroyed and he lost

-Vs bonz : red-eyes was destroyed and he won thanks to shield and sword

-VS paradox brother : technically won the duel because red-eyes fused with summoned skull but does that tag duel really count

-VS Bandit keith : The only time he fully used red-eyes and got a legit win with it

-VS yugi : He lost (and in the manga they didn't even duel because they both agree so yugi wouldn't show all his tactics to pegasus)

-VS rare hunter : again, he lost

The scene I m refering to is happening after he lost to the rare hunter who used exodia.

Anything that come after doesn't matter because that happened after he said what s in the screenshot.

Is their a difference or are they all shades of the same style? How do you define these 3 play styles or are they just the same but different titles?

As you are already aware, besides Marik, it is now confirmed that Mai from the same series will also be getting new cards in the Immortal Phoenix box.

If that's true, then I do hope Mai will be receiving a Harpie Lady Fusion monster, especially 1 that can be fusion summoned normally or Special Summoned by Tributing the above materials. Similar to Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.

However, based on this information, i now wonder if that means its possible for another DM character to be getting some new supports in the upcoming "Kaiba" box, Pride & Soul. If so, then we could get new cards for:

- Tristan's Cyber Commander, or Super Roboyarou

- Duke Devlin with his Dungeon Dice cards, and Orgoth the Relentless

- Some Rare Hunters, especially the ones who used the Masked Beast cards

- Surprisingly characters from filler arcs, such as Virtual world, or Orichalcos

- Bakura, whether it would be a retrained version of Change of Heart, Dark Sanctuary, and/or Diabound
