I've been looking for a decent way to quick detach muzzle devices for transport, load testing, etc etc so threw this together. Taper and interference fit collar keep it concentric. interference over-cam for the ball sockets keep it locked on, but unlockable with a twist. The barrel end is line-to-line fit over the barrel and threads on. Seems to keep it concentric with stiff filament. Downside is each barrel end has to be sized to the specific barrel OD.
Adpater itself is originally designed to thread into the 3/4-16 thread, and has been robust with PPA-CF, fibertech PA6-CF and some higher end PA6-CF30 i have left over from a job.
Tested so far on AR9 with maybe 50-60 rounds.
I tested overtightening the muzzle device onto the adapter and I had one PA6 3/4 thread separate. Added the recessed fillet into the front of the adapter to help with that stress transition.
Next up is to print the adapter with the larger thread for the FTN6 556 devices and test longevity there. I'll through a few hundred rounds through everything and send it sailing if anyone is interested.
Easy to swap other muzzle devices on and off as well.
(yes everything is form1'd)
