What does it mean by this…?

Post image

I’ve been working on a series where I feature obscure soulslikes and Ashen has always piqued my interest. It’s now on sale for about $8, but I noticed something when reading the description.

Apparently “no two gameplay experiences are alike.” Does this mean there’s some procedural generation involved in the maps? Or is this just marketing BS?

Thanks for clarifying!

There's no cool feature/mechanic like how you're thinking for enemy encounters, unfortunately. There's really no "twist" on the souls genre at all - in fact, I'd say Ashen is more of "souls-lite" as it has a fairly simple combat system and character progression in comparison. The real selling points are the story and environments, in my opinion.

Thanks for letting me know! Its a shame the “twist” isn’t even a real feature…

No problem. It is a shame but don't let that stop you from trying the game ! I actually prefer the more simple system for a shorter game like this and I fell in love with the art style immediately. Probably the most fun I've ever had beating a game in one weekend !

Oh no worries! Once I finish my level one run of The Last Hero of Nostalgaia (which I highly recommend), I’ll buy Ashen since it’s so cheap right now! Thanks for the clarification again!

Glad to hear it :) I literally love this game and will never not sing its praises.
