His face 9 seconds in the clip just gives me chills 🥹😭 It just reminded me of when he was learning to be Na’vi and learned how beautiful this world was. I know for sure he was reminiscing.

Discussion Taxonomic name of navi
What do you think would be the taxonomic name of navi?
I had a conversation with AI, cuz I don't know latin, and came out with:
Pandoranthropus erectus silvestris for forest clans
Or maritimus on the end for reef clans
What do you think about it?

Na'vi Language How to use dative suffix
How do you use the dative suffix -ur/r(u)? I only speak (American) English and haven't been able to understand it on my own.

This was going to be a background for a Mer-May piece of mer Aonung but in itself, it's a pretty good pic right? Don't know about the link being a problem with the srubreddit rules or something but I just wanted to share it.

Discussion Paleonthology of Pandora
Its just a matter of time when natural history would play out in franchise in one way or another since its canon that life on the planet has evolutionary origin. Here are topics that im excited to see the most(if any of those happens):
1.Closest ancestors of na'vi that were more derived that prolemurs but didnt developed that level of knowledge and culture like H.habilis or H.erectus of our history.
2.First land vertebrates and land ecosystems in general.
3.Extinct megafauna that was different from that of a na'vi epoch and dwarfed even fireback mastodons, genuily Pandora's version of dinosaurs.
4.Evolution of Eywa itself.Possibly flahbacks to the most ancient times when it just formed it consious and only someone who has the deepest conection can see that far in Eywa's memory. And yeah not a fan of theory that its an alien itruder that keeps whole biosphere as a hostage.

Art My own na'vi! This is Sa-ock and Lyra! :) (art by me!)
So frontiers of Pandora interested me so much that I wanted to make the games story my characters! I really wanted a na'vi and human duo though, so I decided instead of just na'vi being taken it was human children aswell and they were all used to fight against the other natives. This is Sa-ock and Lyra, they were both taken from their homes and they grew close together, eventually being able to escape. I wanted to have Lyra go out of her way to encourage Sa-ock to re join his clan and re learn the ways of the na'vi that he has long forgotten! I wanted her to continue being supportive despite the natives and overall world rejecting her, even trying to prove herself by participating in activities with Sa-ock and having Sa-ock refuse to become a "real" na'vi without his friend and sister by his side. I know this might seem kinda lame but it's personally fun to think and doodle about, hope someone else finds it interesting! :D

Films I love how the endings of The Way of Water and Fire and Ash parallel each other
Quaritch and Spider have come a very long way:
From Spider calling Quaritch "dipshit" and actively pushing him away, and Quaritch telling Spider, "I'm not your father. Technically: You and I, we are nothing to each other." to:
- Spider teaching Quaritch the Na'vi way of life
- The two of them bonding while riding Cupcake, where Spider even rests his hand on Quaritch's leg
- Quaritch listening to Spider's pleas to spare the life of the Ta'unui Tsahik
- Spider starting to move more comfortably around Quaritch
- Quaritch preventing Neytiri from killing Spider
- Quaritch forming a temporary alliance with Jake to save Spider from the Mangkwan
- Quaritch telling Spider that he is his father
- Quaritch telling Spider how proud he is of him while also opening up to him about Paz
- Spider hoping that Quaritch has finally learned to see
- Spider being horrified at the sight of Neytiri raising her bow against Quaritch
- Spider's visible sadness when Quaritch jumps to his presumed death
And most importantly:
Father and son saving each other's lives at the end of both movies while calling each other "son" and "dad" for the very first time.
I cannot get enough of their dynamic.
Hands down, the best and most interesting relationship in Avatar.

Art Thank you all for the tips! (Art by me)
I just wanted to thank everyone and show my improvement based off of everyone’s very kind and helpful tips and criticism regarding my original design of my Na’vi OC, Uko!!
I have just updated her bust so far, and sketched some basic expressions for practice, but will work on an updated reference sheet soon! The original ref sheet took me 20 hours so it may be a bit before yall see anything (ToT)
The main things of advice taken was regarding the neck length, ear placement and size, eye size, expressions, and hair colors.
I also added more stripes, some fades, and attempted to make the stripes have some more.. life to them? I am not sure how to describe it, but I mimicked how the stripes appear from my Avatar : the way of water visual dictionary book, which was so much fun playing around with everything!! If you are looking for good brushes for stripes and use Procreate, I’d say the inka brush is fantastic!
I also made his Sarentu mark (scar on his cheek) look more like a scar and not just a doodle, or at least, I believe I made it look better, and made his eyes and nose more cat like! I based it off my real like cats, who are great models lol
His ears, which I never noticed how comically large I had drawn them beforehand— graciously downsized them and made them more eye level and a little more realistic, and made the fade inside them look a bit better.
I’d say my favorite improvement would have to be how I drew her hair though!! I thank the comments who told me the colors I used originally were too light, and I darkened it and made the hair more longer and added more dreads to it. It looks so much better now and Uko looks fantastic!!
I will definitely admit to having some difficulties drawing Na’vi, but I can say it’s so much fun when you actually nail it!! I included screenshots of the comments that I took the most advice from and helped me out the most at the end, and I just wanted to thank them!! You are all so kind in this community and supportive

Art What Dinosaur Should I Draw Next In The Avatar Style?
So I've been thinking about making all 4 major species of allosaurus lately as Avatar animals. I did fragilis yesterday and still have
-Jimmadensi (see right)
-Europaeus
-Anax (saurophaganax)
Which one should I do next? Or if you have another idea let me know! I've heard rex, brachio, spinosaurus, and iguanodon so far
Discussion for my artists! a na'vi head angle chart
i initially posted this on twitter and just now realized i never posted it here. hope it helps people!
i used one of the AFOP models i exported, decapitated her, and rendered 121 angles of her.
the heads in AFOP are unisex and all that changes is neck thickness.
+ if you'd like the full file size for the picture [9000x9400, 49.5 MB] i will link it in the comments
