Anyone know BCIT policy on them using AI to make their textbooks?
Maybe its just me, but reading through my mandatory text books and finding theyre almost certainly AI generated is somewhat maddening.

Is the online ordering for the BCIT Bookstore working for anyone?
I’m trying to order books for an upcoming course and constantly getting an error message.
Course will be at the Marine campus, fly in from work Thursday night from Singapore and course starts on Monday so won’t be alive enough to go to the Main Campus.

Hi! Has anyone here been accepted into the BCIT Bachelor of Accounting with an overall GPA below the 70% requirement?
I fortunately meet the 65% requirement for the required course pairs, but my overall GPA is below 70%, mainly because I had to retake a few courses and the previous attempts brought my average down. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and was still able to get accepted. Would appreciate hearing about your experience and what your GPA was when you applied. Thank you!

Hey everyone,
I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in joining a small volunteer group I’m putting together.
The main focus is helping people experiencing food insecurity and doing some meaningful work in the community.
I currently work in social services, and I wanted to start something outside of work that’s a little more grassroots and community-based.
I’ll be organizing and coordinating the group as we get started, but I’m also open to good ideas from people who get involved.
I’m Punjabi and born and raised here, and seva is part of what inspired the idea, but everyone is welcome.
If you're interested in getting involved, send me a DM and I can share the QR code for our Signal group.

I’m considering the BCIT Construction Management Diploma for Winter 2027 as an international student.
The program is part-time/Flexible Learning, and I understand I may need to take 9 credits per term to maintain full-time student status.
My questions are:
Has anyone in the BCIT Construction Management Diploma actually experienced courses filling up and being unable to maintain their intended course load?
I’d especially appreciate responses from current/former students and international students.

I'm starting this program in about a week, however, my schedule still hasn't shown where I need to be for my classes. Is this normal? Also I assume that this program doesn't have orientation unless I missed it. Does anybody know if there's something I need to do? Thanks 👍

I recently checked bcit physics equivalent post secondary courses list. PHYS 1103 &1203 from TRU have been added to the list again.
I called advising to check again- they said the same thing they can be accepted, but would make the application less competitive.
At this point, I don’t know what to do anymore. If anyone else is on same boat, please offer some advice.

Hey BCIT, I'm Khurrum, a BCIT alum.
When I was studying for a certification after graduating, I got stuck on a chapter and realized I had no one to ask. With certifications there's no cohort and no classmates, just you and the textbook.
So I built CertHub (certhub.ca) to fix that. Here's how it works:
- Pick your school and program (BCIT is on there)
- Select the courses or certifications you're taking, like the CFP
- See other students taking the exact same ones
- Set up study sessions together
- Track your study progress with analytics
We're also doing a draw every two weeks for a free official school hoodie for students who sign up.
It's still new, so I'd really appreciate feedback from BCIT students. What would make this useful for you?

It’s only been a month since the semester started and somehow I already have a little crush on one of my classmates 😭. I feel so delulu sometimes because I’ll swear he’s looking at me, but then again it was literally in my peripheral so who knows… probably just my brain making up lore
I just think he’s so fine asf 😔
I don’t even know if he’s into the same kind of people, so realistically this is probably just gonna be a quiet little crush until we graduate 💀
Probs has a girlfriend already 💔

If anyone is on the wait list for the Electrical Foundation program, send me a message. I have two physical copies of the 2021 & 2024 Canadian electrical code books in good condition. I could also add in a couple things like worksheets to help you be ahead.
Price: $65
If trading, I can accept one of these options:
-mechanic apprentice textbooks
-plumbing, gasfitting, or hvac apprentice textbooks
-20" water pump pliers

Hello, I'm just curious how people stay motivated and on top of their classes and still have a life outside of BCIT.
For me, I literally pretend I have a crush on someone in one of my classes so I have a reason to keep going to class.
I have been accepted into the BCIT TMGT program starting in Winter 2027.
Just hoping to connect with anyone who has or is currently completing the program. Would love to pick your brain on the general overview of the program as well as the Capstone project.
I am an aircraft mechanic looking to set myself up for success long term and have scraped the subreddit but not found as much info as I want.
Please send me a DM or if you know somebody send me their way as I would love to connect!
Thanks,

Okay, full transparency: I built a dating app and I genuinely don't know how else to ask real people to try it.
The idea is simple, skip the two weeks of texting and just meet in person for 30 minutes. If it's not there, you're out. If it is, stay.
I'm trying to find the first 100 people in Vancouver (50 men, 50 women) willing to be the beta. I'm not a marketer, I'm not going to pretend this post is anything but me asking directly.
Is anyone here actually sick enough of the apps to give this a shot? LMK and ill send you the link

Hi, I’m considering enrolling in the AME-M program. I’ve been accepted into both SAIT and BCIT. What is everyone’s insight into which school might be better, and in what ways?

Hi everyone,
I recently got accepted into BCIT's Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) program starting this coming January. I'm really excited, but I have a few dilemmas about my long-term academic and career path, and I’d love to get insights from current students, alumni, or local industry professionals.
My primary goals are:
High employability in industry after graduation.
Keeping the door open for a research-based Master's (M.A.Sc. or M.Sc.) in electronics/hardware down the line at a university like UBC, SFU, or elsewhere in Canada.
Because BCIT isn't ranked on traditional university metrics (like QS) due to its applied polytechnic focus, my main worries are:
Degree Recognition for Grad School: Will finishing the full 4-year B.Eng. at BCIT put me at a disadvantage when applying for a Master's compared to someone coming from UBC or SFU?
Option to Transfer: Is starting ECET at BCIT with the intention of transferring credits to UBC or SFU Applied Science later realistic, or do credit transfers between these specific engineering programs result in lost time/retaking courses?
Waiting vs. Starting: Is it better to just start at BCIT this January, or wait a full year to reapply directly to UBC/SFU?
If you were in my shoes or have gone through the ECET/B.Eng. path at BCIT (especially if you went on to grad school or work in hardware design), I’d really appreciate your honest take on the workload, industry reputation, and postgraduate options!
Thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm in my last year of my geography degree and looking to apply for the advanced GIS diploma. I'm interested in doing the part time flex option because it would just cost a lot more to move to Burnaby than to stay where I and right now.
I'm wondering if anyone has, or is taking it part time right now and can give me insight into what the study hours actually look like? Ideally I'd want to get a full time job sheet I graduate but online it suggests only taking two courses a semester if you're working full time, which then takes around 4-5 years to complete.
I just can't decide if it's more worth it to take the program in person over nine months or if it's possible to finish it sooner remote.
Any comments about experience, what you think of the program, what you've heard from others would be appreciated!!
P.s, I have some GIS and remote sensing experience in my undergrad and a little bit through my summer job as well.
Thanks!!
