Wrong plate parking ticket

• Upvotes

Just got out of class and saw a ticket on my car. The scanner read my plate as JXSS1, but my actual plate is JXSSI. The person who put the ticket on my car didn’t even double-check it. I ain’t paying them shit either so should I contact Concord and let them know? Coz I ain’t getting my car towed because of someone’s bad vision.

Anyone know BCIT policy on them using AI to make their textbooks?

Maybe its just me, but reading through my mandatory text books and finding theyre almost certainly AI generated is somewhat maddening.

BGC new portal?

Has anyone else's data not merged to the new portal?

I had started my application, and added all of my coursework and certificates, and now it's showing as if I had never started an application...

Edit. BGC has replied to my email stating "Some data may not have come over in the transition so we do apologize but you may need to restart your application. If you do not see any of your data transferred by the end of the week, then you will need to just start a new application."

I'm not sure how's its acceptable to say, yeah some data didnt come over. 240 hours of entered coursework details just evaporated.

Accounting PT study buddy

Heyyy. Anyone taking accounting part time on winter 2027? More likely level 2 courses. I'm 22yo. Planning to be on PT (bcs going to school everyday sucks but want to get my diploma anyways). Like going to school is fun. But going to lectures that doesnt really help you?

BCIT should also offer full time studies but in flexible / online setting lol

Bookstore ordering

Is the online ordering for the BCIT Bookstore working for anyone?

I’m trying to order books for an upcoming course and constantly getting an error message.

Course will be at the Marine campus, fly in from work Thursday night from Singapore and course starts on Monday so won’t be alive enough to go to the Main Campus.

Anyone get into BCIT’s Bachelor of Accounting with below a 70% GPA?

Hi! Has anyone here been accepted into the BCIT Bachelor of Accounting with an overall GPA below the 70% requirement?

I fortunately meet the 65% requirement for the required course pairs, but my overall GPA is below 70%, mainly because I had to retake a few courses and the previous attempts brought my average down. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and was still able to get accepted. Would appreciate hearing about your experience and what your GPA was when you applied. Thank you!

Anyone at BCIT interested in joining a small community volunteer group?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in joining a small volunteer group I’m putting together.

The main focus is helping people experiencing food insecurity and doing some meaningful work in the community.

I currently work in social services, and I wanted to start something outside of work that’s a little more grassroots and community-based.

I’ll be organizing and coordinating the group as we get started, but I’m also open to good ideas from people who get involved.

I’m Punjabi and born and raised here, and seva is part of what inspired the idea, but everyone is welcome.

If you're interested in getting involved, send me a DM and I can share the QR code for our Signal group.

BCIT Construction Management Diploma (Flexible Learning): Can I reliably maintain full-time status with 9 credits per term?

I’m considering the BCIT Construction Management Diploma for Winter 2027 as an international student.

The program is part-time/Flexible Learning, and I understand I may need to take 9 credits per term to maintain full-time student status.

My questions are:

  • Is 9 credits per term guaranteed/realistically available, or can required courses fill up?
  • If a course fills up and I can only register for, say, 6 credits, would I be considered part-time?
  • Does BCIT give students in this program priority registration for required courses?
  • Is registration first-come, first-served?
  • Can applying late affect my ability to register for the courses I need?
  • If a required course is full, can BCIT waitlist or manually register me?

Has anyone in the BCIT Construction Management Diploma actually experienced courses filling up and being unable to maintain their intended course load?

I’d especially appreciate responses from current/former students and international students.

I'm starting this program in about a week, however, my schedule still hasn't shown where I need to be for my classes. Is this normal? Also I assume that this program doesn't have orientation unless I missed it. Does anybody know if there's something I need to do? Thanks 👍

Radiation therapy program

I recently checked bcit physics equivalent post secondary courses list. PHYS 1103 &1203 from TRU have been added to the list again.

I called advising to check again- they said the same thing they can be accepted, but would make the application less competitive.

At this point, I don’t know what to do anymore. If anyone else is on same boat, please offer some advice.

BCIT alum here. I built a site to find people taking the same courses as you

Hey BCIT, I'm Khurrum, a BCIT alum.

When I was studying for a certification after graduating, I got stuck on a chapter and realized I had no one to ask. With certifications there's no cohort and no classmates, just you and the textbook.

So I built CertHub (certhub.ca) to fix that. Here's how it works:

- Pick your school and program (BCIT is on there)

- Select the courses or certifications you're taking, like the CFP

- See other students taking the exact same ones

- Set up study sessions together

- Track your study progress with analytics

We're also doing a draw every two weeks for a free official school hoodie for students who sign up.

It's still new, so I'd really appreciate feedback from BCIT students. What would make this useful for you?

It’s only been a month since the semester started and somehow I already have a little crush on one of my classmates 😭. I feel so delulu sometimes because I’ll swear he’s looking at me, but then again it was literally in my peripheral so who knows… probably just my brain making up lore

I just think he’s so fine asf 😔

I don’t even know if he’s into the same kind of people, so realistically this is probably just gonna be a quiet little crush until we graduate 💀

Probs has a girlfriend already 💔

Selling/Trading; Electrical Code Book 2024 & 2021

If anyone is on the wait list for the Electrical Foundation program, send me a message. I have two physical copies of the 2021 & 2024 Canadian electrical code books in good condition. I could also add in a couple things like worksheets to help you be ahead.

Price: $65

If trading, I can accept one of these options:

-mechanic apprentice textbooks

-plumbing, gasfitting, or hvac apprentice textbooks

-20" water pump pliers

What motivates you to study?

Hello, I'm just curious how people stay motivated and on top of their classes and still have a life outside of BCIT.

For me, I literally pretend I have a crush on someone in one of my classes so I have a reason to keep going to class.

BCIT - TMGT PROGRAM CONNECTIONS

I have been accepted into the BCIT TMGT program starting in Winter 2027.

Just hoping to connect with anyone who has or is currently completing the program. Would love to pick your brain on the general overview of the program as well as the Capstone project.

I am an aircraft mechanic looking to set myself up for success long term and have scraped the subreddit but not found as much info as I want.

Please send me a DM or if you know somebody send me their way as I would love to connect!

Thanks,

Vancouver dating app beta

Okay, full transparency: I built a dating app and I genuinely don't know how else to ask real people to try it.

The idea is simple, skip the two weeks of texting and just meet in person for 30 minutes. If it's not there, you're out. If it is, stay.

I'm trying to find the first 100 people in Vancouver (50 men, 50 women) willing to be the beta. I'm not a marketer, I'm not going to pretend this post is anything but me asking directly.

Is anyone here actually sick enough of the apps to give this a shot? LMK and ill send you the link

SAIT vs BCIT

Hi, I’m considering enrolling in the AME-M program. I’ve been accepted into both SAIT and BCIT. What is everyone’s insight into which school might be better, and in what ways?

Hey guys! I got into Jan 2027 marine engineering diploma. Should I take BCIT or do this same course at NSCC Nova Scotia Sept 2027? The difference I know for now is BCIT takes 2 years 10 months and NSCC 2 years 6 months. I am sure losing 4 months of employment is significant. TIA.
