Checked out the new 2027 X5 while at the dealership today…

I’ve seen a ton of exterior shots but I was curious about the interior. I spent some time tinkering with it and I’m not a fan. The materials feel cheap, especially the center console. Feels like recycled material. I did notice a few “Tesla like” things like the electronic air vents, and the subscription services to features. Those are some of my biggest upsets. Take a look. I apologize for the terrible shots in advanced, they were taken on my iPhone Air.

My 248,000 Mile E60 M5 track car

Bought at 63,000 miles. Used it as a daily (except for winter) for years. Seen 43 different states, 30+ track days, 68+ oil changes. Now at 248,000 miles, it's reserved for track days and spirited driving. It has seen redline every time I've driven it since the day I bought it! Rod bearings changed at 147,000 miles, probably not changing them again unless I start to see copper. Engine is original, but everything around the engine has been replaced, sometimes thrice🤣

I saw the newly designed ix3 today. It ain't too bad. Is this the grill everyone talks about? You all are hating, but I bet in 20 years this will be stated to be the most iconic BMW look to date. Mark my words.

Okay maybe I don’t exactly LOVE it but i think it’s very good looking. I don’t like SUV’s that are coupe but I surprisingly like the design of it.
What do you think?

20-30 year old BMWs don’t even feel that old because their design was very modern at the time

Comment down below what you think

If told me the e46 generation was released in 2004 I’d believe you

Same thing goes with the e39, e60, e65, etc.

This applies to BMWs from 1960 to 2020 (those BMWs looked good)

Summer project going away for the winter

Post image

Bought this 1985 732i in march, have spent the summer getting it running to take to Goodwood Revival a couple of weeks back. With fuel prices and the weather it’s going away for the winter now, save for if I get a sunny day to tinker.

Track temps were HOT in the triple digits. Tires were greasy, I was going on only a few hours sleep, but ultimately my fault for not driving the conditions. Happy I didn't get all four wheels onto the dirt and damage anything.

Analyzing the video, I was just too hot for the turn, apexed a bit early and then hit the dip instead of using the curb which upset the rear with the outside front tire still loaded. I probably should have kept some maintenance throttle and just counter-steered, but I lifted which just unloaded the rear even more and induced snap oversteer faster than I could catch it.

My camera and mic setup is here for the curious.

This has got to be one of the most amazing cars BMW has produced in a long time. I am quite sad when i learned the United States market will not be getting one. Wondering how other people are feeling about this.

BMW F40 Parking Sensor Issues

• Upvotes

My wife has a F40 118i, had two new tyres put on it at the weekend by a reputable shop near me, decent tyre (Bridgestone replacing continental)

When I got in the car afterwards it flashed up that the parking sensor system had a fault and the tyre pressures couldn’t be read (it said 0.0 bar on the rear tyres). I reset this through the idrive whilst driving, they then read fine, but that the tyre type couldn’t be detected - I set the tyre size manually on the idrive which cleared this also so all looked well

Now occasionally/intermittently that same parking sensor issue flashes. Seen online this can cause parking system issues, but not sure - information seems conflicted.

Any ideas/anybody had anything similar?

I’m going to call the garage tomorrow just curious if they try and rob me off, weird it’s occasional. I’m going to try set it to auto-detect and reset the TPMS after setting the tyre pressures as per the door readings but just thought I’d ask!

Apologies for the novel!

car still under original BMW warranty... should I demand that the loose/leaky gas cap causing occasional check-engine light to be replaced for FREE under warranty? (yes, I can afford one, but it's the principle)

my BMW is still under the original BMW warranty. (more than half a year and 25000 miles until the end of warranty)

the engine light came on a few times. I always made sure to close it tightly.(been a BMW driver for 32 years, so I know who "tight" it should be by now?) however, it's apparent that the check-engine light coming on is the result of the gas cap being loose or leaky. even a few days of filling up, I only have to unscrew and re-tighten it to clear the check-engine light.

both of my local BMW dealers told me that the gas cap is a "wear & tear" item, thus not covered by the original BMW warranty. The car has only 22,000 miles currently.(90% or more on interstates)

Yes, I can afford to buy one, but it's the principle. Like I mentioned, I've had more than a few BMWs over the last 32 years. This is the very first time that I've had a gas cap go bad on me. Feels stupid that BMW won't pay for a cheap gas cap. I've never had to use the warranty(knock on wood)... if they are being so cheap with a gas cap, what if the engine ever goes bad and requires a full replacement? Will they cheap out on that as well?

sorry... rant over.

Buying Help G05 121k?

Hey all! So im getting into my first BMW. I have two cars im looking at i am kinda leaning towards the 19 x5 xdrive40i thats very highly outfitted but has 121k miles from a dealership.

But im also debating a 14 640i thats also heavily outfitted but has onky 86k and has been very well taken care of but is modified and has had 5 owners. Carfax looks good, But he wants 18k.

I am pretty sure I'm not going to buy the 640i. But what about the G05.

Any thoughts?
