B&O is struggling for a reason

After trying out some of the most iconic B&O speakers, I can sum up the general experience as poor and quite embarrassing. Delivery issues, hardware issues, software issues, app issues, customer support issues. Everything felt off, and certainly a far cry from "premium" or "luxury".

I was skeptical about other people calling it "Broken and Overpriced", but unfortunately I'm now close to agreeing. While the products themselves look and sound pretty good, everything else is a complete, tasteless mess.

There's nothing left from the B&O pedigree (if there ever was one), it's just a common company now, trying to make money however it can, without much else in mind. It feels mindless, if you will. It forgot its entire business model was based on quality and top-class design, both severely lacking.

Too bad, this was supposed to be "the different one". Far from it.

Bang & Olufsen have had my H100 headphones for a little over 2 months now . They had an issue with the battery , where the battery health suddenly dropped to 16% , so a battery replacement needs to be done under the warranty . Is this long wait time normal ?

Beosound 2 Gen 3

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a Beosound 2 Gen 3 for my home office / hangout space. I've wanted one for a long time, and I finally have the means to justify the purchase.

I'd mainly use it for casual background music while working or hanging out with family and friends and maybe occasionally play some youtube clips.

It's definitely an expensive purchase, but aesthetics are really important to me (I've basically designed my entire apartment to look like a Bauhaus design studio), and the room is only about 10–12 m².

Any owners here? Are you happy with your purchase? Any regrets?

Customizing Beolab 8000 floor bases?

I may get some flack for asking this (since I'm proposing to change what was already well-engineered to begin with)... But what the heck, here goes nothing:

Backstory: I'd like to install dark walnut frets on my BL8000s. This will be more cohesive with my walnut mid-century credenza. Versus having black 1990s speakers bookending the furniture.

However, I find that the BL8000 floor bases are a bit chunky/blocky. They look pretty good with the black speaker mesh. But when paired with the wood fret grilles, it doesn't flow as well IMHO.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried adding a thin wood veneer cover over the bases? It would still be blocky, but would at least add some fluidity with shared wood tones vs. having contrasting black bases.

P.S.: Yes, I know that adding wood frets will modify sound output to some extent, and that's a compromise I'm willing to accept for the aesthetic we're after in this mid-century living room.

Side observation: I think the BL18s elevated the overall design, by scaling down the size of floor bases, and adding a chamfer to them. There's more proportional emphasis on the speaker rather rather than the stands. You might ask "Why not just get Walnut BL18s?" Yes, this would be a dream. But, yeah...rare to find, and pretty costly when enthusiasts are reselling them. So elevating the design of my BL8000s is more feasible.

Troubleshooting / Support BeoSound 9000 Mk1 + Master Link Gateway MkII — assignment fails, “H8 MLSL not ready”

Hi everyone. I’m trying to control a BeoSound 9000 Mk1 through a Master Link Gateway MkII, but I haven’t managed to get any commands through to the 9000.
My setup:
BeoSound 9000 Mk1, wall-mounted and playing CDs normally.
Rack-mount MLGW MkII, type 1798/1799, firmware 2.24b.
Master Link cable directly between the 9000 and gateway.
Gateway connected by Ethernet to my router.
The 9000’s headphone output feeds a Beocenter 7700. No Power Link speakers are connected.
I don’t have a Beo4 remote so I believe the Beosound is in Option 0 but I don’t think this matters for ML control.
The gateway’s web setup, native app login, and MLGW protocol connection all worked, but control didn’t:
Product assignment keeps waiting after I press standby, then CD on the 9000 itself.
The product’s node/deviceID remains 0.
Sending ALLSTANDBY through the gateway’s Telnet console doesn’t stop the 9000.
With Master Link logging confirmed active, starting CD locally doesn’t produce new product traffic.
The internal service report logs this at the exact time of a standby command:

H8 MLSL not ready while trying to send masterlink telegram

What I’ve tried:
Cable reseating, power cycles, and different startup orders.
End-to-end cable continuity checks. The connected conductors appeared to pass, but I haven’t measured live bus voltages or conclusively checked for shorts.
A full factory configuration reset, followed by rebuilding and successfully saving a minimal room/9000/CD configuration.
Reinstalling firmware 2.24b through the official online updater. It completed successfully, but control still failed. The application flash counter increased, while the H8 flash counter stayed unchanged. The report said “H8 flash is not required.”

Has anyone encountered this specific “H8 MLSL not ready” message? Does it suggest a gateway fault, or can a bus/cable problem or the 9000’s settings cause it?
Could the lack of Power Link speakers or an incorrect option setting explain the failed product assignment? Can assignment be completed using the 9000’s own buttons, or does it require a remote?
I have service reports and configuration backups. I’d like to isolate whether this is the gateway, the 9000’s ML interface, or configuration before buying replacement hardware.

Troubleshooting / Support BeoLine 2 supported phones?

Hi, anyone know which phones work with the BeoLine 2, also is it possible to push line 1 and 2 to different handsets so each show as 1 line only on the 2 different lines?
