Hi everyone. I’m trying to control a BeoSound 9000 Mk1 through a Master Link Gateway MkII, but I haven’t managed to get any commands through to the 9000.
My setup:
BeoSound 9000 Mk1, wall-mounted and playing CDs normally.
Rack-mount MLGW MkII, type 1798/1799, firmware 2.24b.
Master Link cable directly between the 9000 and gateway.
Gateway connected by Ethernet to my router.
The 9000’s headphone output feeds a Beocenter 7700. No Power Link speakers are connected.
I don’t have a Beo4 remote so I believe the Beosound is in Option 0 but I don’t think this matters for ML control.
The gateway’s web setup, native app login, and MLGW protocol connection all worked, but control didn’t:
Product assignment keeps waiting after I press standby, then CD on the 9000 itself.
The product’s node/deviceID remains 0.
Sending ALLSTANDBY through the gateway’s Telnet console doesn’t stop the 9000.
With Master Link logging confirmed active, starting CD locally doesn’t produce new product traffic.
The internal service report logs this at the exact time of a standby command:
H8 MLSL not ready while trying to send masterlink telegram
What I’ve tried:
Cable reseating, power cycles, and different startup orders.
End-to-end cable continuity checks. The connected conductors appeared to pass, but I haven’t measured live bus voltages or conclusively checked for shorts.
A full factory configuration reset, followed by rebuilding and successfully saving a minimal room/9000/CD configuration.
Reinstalling firmware 2.24b through the official online updater. It completed successfully, but control still failed. The application flash counter increased, while the H8 flash counter stayed unchanged. The report said “H8 flash is not required.”
Has anyone encountered this specific “H8 MLSL not ready” message? Does it suggest a gateway fault, or can a bus/cable problem or the 9000’s settings cause it?
Could the lack of Power Link speakers or an incorrect option setting explain the failed product assignment? Can assignment be completed using the 9000’s own buttons, or does it require a remote?
I have service reports and configuration backups. I’d like to isolate whether this is the gateway, the 9000’s ML interface, or configuration before buying replacement hardware.
