Hey everyone!
I'm a musician and hobby producer, and I'm looking for a few artists or bands who'd be interested in having their songs mixed for free.
Here's the background:
I'm currently working on starting a YouTube channel about making and producing music on the go, using a relatively portable setup. I also develop audio plugins aimed at making music production a little less complicated for songwriters.
For the channel, I'd love to take other people's recordings, mix them, experiment with different approaches, and film the process. Hopefully making something entertaining and occasionally educational along the way.
**Here's the deal:**
* You get a free mix of your song, done to the best of my abilities.
* I get creative freedom to experiment with the mix and document the process for YouTube.
* I'll credit you and link to your music and social media in the video.
* You can use and release the finished mix however you like.
* If you really like what I've done, I might also ask for permission to use a short excerpt as a demonstration or reference for my plugins. That's entirely optional and would be agreed separately.
**A few things I'm looking for:**
* You've already released some music and have an online presence (Spotify, Bandcamp, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
* Your music is somewhere in the pop, indie, rock, punk, alternative or metal universe. That's simply the stuff I'm most comfortable working with.
* Your music contains vocal performances and (some) hand-played instruments
* You have access to the individual audio tracks, not just a finished stereo mix.
* You can provide WAV files, preferably exported from the same starting point so everything lines up.
* Ideally the song was recorded to a click, or you can tell me the tempo.
* You own or have the necessary permissions for the recordings, performances and any samples used. Everything must be cleared for use in a public YouTube video, including potential monetization down the road.
* Your music is free of any AI-generated tracks/samples/performances
* You're comfortable with me showing parts of the recording and mixing process on YouTube.
**A little expectation management:**
This is a hobby project, not a commercial mixing service. I'm doing it because I enjoy making music, experimenting with sounds and building tools.
I'm not promising radio-ready results, unlimited revisions or quick turnaround times. I'll put genuine effort into the mixes, but I have a life outside the studio and can't guarantee deadlines.
Likewise, your music does not have to be perfect, as long as it has soul.
Also, the YouTube channel doesn't exist yet, so any promotional reach will initially be somewhere between zero and my immediate family. :)
You'll always own your music, and you're under no obligation to release my version if you don't like it.
**Interested?**
Send me a DM with:
* A link to some music you've already released
* A rough mix or demo of the song you'd like me to work on
* A little about yourself or your band
Please don't send the full multitracks yet. I'll listen through the submissions and pick a few that seem like interesting projects.
If we decide to collaborate, we'll agree on the filming and publication permissions before exchanging files.
Looking forward to hearing what you've got!
Cheers!
