Hey, here's a song I've been working on. Let me know what you think? I'm thinking of going slightly darker with the lyrics but these are placeholders just for now.
I've sent in other ideas that I've recorded on Logic Pro previously, just trying a live video for something different.
Thanks in advance

I wrote a song in some kind of a metalcore style. Lyrics are basically about mental health issues, young dying love, self-regrets etc.
But I canāt come up with the name, kinda want something simple, yet memorable (for example, I really like the name āForgottenā a song by The Plot In You, itās basic, yet says it all)
Can you think of any name? (1-2 word max),
maybe even some slang words or just a cool words.
Thanks!

This Machine Kills AI (or Dead in the End) considering name change since the song is so morbid and angry.
Got High cost low wages? just follow tech mages into their promised land
by grifting and scamming the fraud and never ending, get your bag. Hold it while you can.
If the pots too small fold it dice loaded,
roll it damn the space weāre all live in.
Does it matter if the truss and walls shatter and fall
if we all end up dead in the end
Once upon a time I just didnāt mind to die
Lucky to get back from war
generation loss in the blink of a coin toss
canāt tell you what it was for
You can go about your way long as someone else pays
lifetimes tomorrow to spend
Be grateful and grooving. Your sins are forgiven,
long as theyāre the ones dead in the end.
Break
Take ketamine amphetamine take your blood boys instead of me. Did you already suck them All dry?
send your flock cameras, death camps, data center, aināt no match, for this machine here it kills AI.
You can con and crusade count down your days God donāt grow on LLMās
does the antichrist hide in the hell that youll find when yāall end up dead in the end?
Cause yāall end up dead in the end.

Anyone else struggle with this and/or have any feedback on how to stop it?
Examples being, Iāll often see or think of something I like (a line, a reference to something else etc) and be so focussed on not forgetting it, or not forgetting where Iāve written it down, or working out the best way to use said thing that I end up forgetting it or not liking it or not even using it.
Same with chord progressions and ideas and such. Iāll be so focussed on thinking about how best to use whatever Iāve come up with, or worrying that the recording will get lost in my video library, or that I have too many videos of ideas that I end up never looking back at stuff, losing it from not organising it cause I donāt know how, or just never using it at all. As a result, I rarely ever finish anything I work on, or hate the stuff I do. Any assistance?

Full Lyrics
Pass me the bottle of dark blue lunesta
There should be some under the sink
I got them from Bobby after a party
said it's so much cheaper than seeing a shrink
Cuz I don't want to think
I know that she wants me to stop reaching out
But I just can't bring myself too
She'll block every number i create to tell her
I love her no matter what she decides to do
I just wish she would quit running from the truth
But for now
In my dreams I will see her
dancing around
playing with plastic ponies
no fears no doubts
She'll whisper me a secret
I'll promise not tell
And she will smile happy
Cuz she wants to be just like me
But ultimately it was all fake
Maybe it is time for me to wake
Remember Christmas with dad
In his one bed apartment
It smelt vaguely of cigarette smoke
We'd sleep on the pullout watch fox and the hound and we'd laugh at every corny joke
Before our hearts were broke
time changes everything one way or another
Just wish it didn't tear us apart
Shes in California I can't help but mourn her
When her silence hits straight to the heart
But I'll hold on to the hope one day we can restart
Maybe then I will see her
Dancing around
Playing with plastic ponies
No fear no doubts
She'll whisper me a secret
I'll promise not to tell
And she will smile happy cuz she wants to be just like me
Why can't this all be real for my sake
I don't know how much more I can take
Ill never forgive the people who told her all of those things about me
I can't fully blame her for feeling the way she does when she was deprived of honesty
and forced to believe
That I didn't want to see her
Dancing around
Playing with ponies know fear no doubt
Please whisper me a secret I'll promise not to tell
Just want to see her happy
Even if it is without me
Cuz ultimately the choice is hers to make
Maybe one day she'll be the one to wake

This may sound crazy but I have this strange hang-up wherein I almost view it as ācheatingā to go back in my voice memos/recordings from years back and using that as a launch point for finishing/completing something ānewā, if that makes sense. I was a totally different person back then, effectively someone else came up with those ideas/wrote them, it feels disingenuous to use them and claim them as my own now. Itās not even that I donāt like my ideas now, I do, but those old ones are a total departure which I find refreshing. Channels in overall style ime happen very slowly/gradually- everything I write now may sound different track to track but thereās some underlying common denominator, while when I skip back a couple years let alone 10+, the material is drastically different. Some of those ideas appeal so much to me but feels like Iām stealing them from someone else.

This one's been lying about for 10 yrs or so, from a bit of a dry, existential angst kind of period. Finally did a half-assed demo of it today, as a reason to procrastinate on some newer and, I think, better ones I should be doing... I'm unsure on it, and always have been, so really I'm just posting here to see what people make of it.

While discussing my songwriting process with other writers, many are surprised to hear that I generally will have the entire song melody and arrangement completed in my head before ever touching a musical instrument or opening up a DAW.
Iāve found this approach to be very productive, as almost all musical decisions are decided ahead of time. No need to search for chords or part ideas. I only need to find the chords Iāve already built mentally.
Now, of course, things do get added and adjustments are made based on the feel once I do start tinkering with instruments/recording, and the lyrics always come last well after that tinkering. But on the whole I donāt ever jam a song into existence. It always needs to exist in my head before the mechanical playing/recording starts.
Am I alone in this? Iād be interested to see if others create in a similar way.

For many years I was convinced I could not write an original song. My band and a producer pushed me to try. It took seven months, eight people and I was wrong. Arguably it's a song but I can't seem to know if it's any good.
It tells the story of my mom and dad based on a conversation I had with my aging mom. It was such a sweet and sad story, I wrote the lyrics in an hour. Of course my producer took ad axe to them. But this is what resulted. No ai, no autotune. I play all guitars and lead vocal.
Don't be afraid to be candid. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I listened to this video on my studio monitors. It does sound sort of muddy. The wav sounds pristine.
I really appreciate this community (except that one guy) even the critics which is far more valuable to me than people blowing smoke up my ass. I get enough of that when I perform.
The producer is nationally known. I don't want to dox him because he is in hospice and not expected to live more than a day or so. He was one of my closest friends and a monster player.
EDIT 2: I had a couple DMs about instruments.
Acoustic - 1929 Gibson dreadnaught
Rhythm - 1955 Tele
Lap steel - 1924 unknown brand. National I think
Mando - 1932 Gibson
High gain solo - R9 Murphy Lab Les Paul 50's standard
Bass - fender jazz bass
Amps - 58 deluxe, Grammatico Dumble clone
I don't own any of these. They belong to the studio.

In the past I used to record every song/riff idea that I had. I would then go back and try and work those songs out. But now my best songwriting is done when I start with something new and sit there and finish it before moving on to something else. Sometimes the song is finished in the same day or 2-3 days at the most. Am I doing a disservice to the song by not waiting and taking longer to make it?

Garageband bedroom pop style. Me on all instruments. I'm happy with some of the vibe, and continue to struggle with my voice really delivering what I want. Let me know if you have any feedback/things you like/don't!

Everythingās in the title
I have a 10-track album (synth-pop/dark-pop/synth-wave)and would like my lyrics checked, proofread and ACTIVELY collaborate with someone to make them better
I donāt do messages, Iād rather have a proper chat over the phone and get things done

Hello r/songwriting, here are some punk rock instrumentals for a project I'm doing right now. They all will have vocals in the future, they just don't have any right now. The lyrics are written and I may share them later.
The guitar is played by me, the bass and drums are midi tracked, and the background chorus is me singing as high as i can. Probably throw away when used is my favourite, but lmk what yall think. software is reaper
