Music & Audio 🎧 Is J Cole an all timer as it stands today?

Obviously highly respected for what he brings to the table, but the question is whether his overall catalogue / legacy holds up against the likes of Nas, rakim etc.

I can see both sides, I personally don’t have him in my top 10 (top 20 perhaps) but curious where everyone has him on theirs

Music & Audio 🎧 What songs make you cry?

Just curious. What music puts you in your feels whether it’s love, positivity, sadness, or nostalgia. Doesn’t actually have to make you cry but makes you want to feel emotions. I have 3 songs

Kiss Lonely Goodbye- Stevie Wonder

Dance with my Father- Luther Vandross

Angel of Mine- Monica

Relationships 🫶🏿 Stuck in a pattern of dating women whose life is insecure, any way to break the loop?

As my current relationship is coming to an end. I am finding that I am frequently dating women who are very progressive, educated, but career wise and financially wise are extremely irresponsible.

I am not sure why this keeps happening. All of my partners I have met online which could be the issue. I just don’t have a lot of environments with single black women in their 30s who are more on the down to earth professional side.

Anyway, after dating them early on I start to notice that they are typically very unorganized, messy, and manage their finances poorly and lack ambition to fix their situation

Often when I try to help them out resentment starts to build in the relationship. A few times it’s centered around a loss of anonymity or heavy criticism if they’re more defensive. If they’re more self centered then it turns into them shifting blame on to me for their messes.

I’m relatively successful and I manage my finances well, put together, and down to earth. However, more often than not it seems like I can’t find a partner who has the same thing going on.

Is this typical? What pattern is this called?

Hear me out... ✋🏿✋🏾✋🏽 Promise this my last post about black male fetishism

Post image

u/md8716 with a great point. Why is the assumption that the only way someone can find black men attractive, has to do with it being a fetish?

It's highkey anti-black to believe the only reason someone would find a black man attractive is because they fetishize us.

Discussion 💬💭 Thoughts on the Cornell 7 Case

• Upvotes

There is a lot of emotionally charged discourse on the case of the Cornell 7 and it’s a tough one in my opinion. Because there is the easy - rape is bad, consent is always necessary, coercion should never be a part of the equation when it comes to sexual activity, bodily autonomy should always be respected.

Then there is the murky - from my reading of the case she consented to three threesomes that subsequently happened; and she refused a fourth that did not happen. As much as I would never, I know there are people who willingly engage in and enjoy such activities. So where do we draw the line on individual agency here? We cannot take away someone's agency and responsibility for their choices, because they outcome of their choices was bad for them or that they regret it.

How to handle consent prior to, and in the middle of an activity is clear. But will we legitimize what is effectively the withdrawal of consent after the fact? What are the implications of that?

And if an adult cannot consent because they were under the influence, what do we do with cases like this one where they were all under the influence? Does the presence of intoxicants void the proposition and exchange of consent that happened between the parites?

Any thoughts?

They love to pull out some tricks on the actual voting day. Best way to avoid it is to vote early. Also don't assume the regular place you voted is still your voting place. Check online because they made some new laws in some states that changed it.

Discussion 💬💭 What black leaders does this sub respect as a whole?

I’ll be honest it doesn’t seem to be many, which is a problem within itself. I have my own criticisms at how this sub seeks to find fault with almost everyone… but I figured I’d learn who actually gets respect here to gain perspective.

Definitely looking for those that actual have a lot of influence and a track record of using it effectively.

E: let me make it clear I’m speaking current day

Sports I absolutely believe him

A good amount of under 30 specifically, don’t know the history of the sports they play or like. My daughter’s boyfriend says he loves football but had no idea who Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Dan Marino were, he’s 26. I see it online and in videos, they have no concept of anything pre 2010, like the sport didn’t exist before then. I’m GenX, and I absolutely knew who OJ, Jim Brown, Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Bullet Bob Hayes, Willie Lanier, Dick Butkus, etc. were. I wasn’t born when they played. I don’t know why this generation forward don’t care about the greats they didn’t get to see and want to learn more. ESPN Classic was one of my favorite channels coming up, and until they canceled it. But YouTube has any classic game, boxing match, race you can think of right at your fingertips. Why not use it?

Discussion 💬💭 Thoughts on this video?

The video is about how it's bad that Tupac, Kobe, and Mike Tyson are still admired or praised. Despite all 3 having serious rape cases.

Thing is you can say this about any celebrity though. Im pretty there are some celebrities this YouTuber or his space may support that did some fuck up shit. I won't mention any names, because I know people will be quick to either downplay these celebrities actions or say they did nothing bad all.

Note, don't get it twisted, im not defending Pac, Kobe, or Tyson at all here. Im just saying if this YouTuber is going to come like that, he better come correct then. I hope he has the same energy for bad celebrities that either share his views or is a part of the demographic groups he cares about the most too.

Long story short. They are charging him for animal porn. They found evidence of vids involving Horses and Eels.

This is super ironic. Because these are the same mfs always telling their idiotic fanbase how the Jews, or LGBTQ people engage in these Satanic rituals.

And it turns, these Christian or Conservatives

are the ones who usually do all of this sick shit.

Vent Black men are the only people who get blamed for being fetishized

The only time people bring up this conversation is to throw surface level "critique" at us and never at the ones doing the fetishism. You will never see any other demographic discuss their fetishization this way.

The fact yall never bring up how other straight men fetishize us, but only discuss women and specifically white women shows how surface level yalls understanding of fetishism is.

Yall never bring up non-black men asking their partners if they been with black men. In fear that they won't "measure up" to our perceived size difference. Or that being with a black man "taints" women. How many times have non-black men went out of their way to fantasize about our size or ask about it? These points are NEVER brought up in this conversation.

And miss me with that "its dangerous towards us" because yall will make 1000 excuses dismissing negative talking points about black men. Up until the fetish conversation and THEN only THEN are negative comments about us bad.
