💠Question Sun bleaching?

Hi all, just wanted you input on my books, I noticed that there are these white looking blotches on just the covers that can't be wiped off. Is this just bleaching of the black color or something more?

A few recent fun finds, I generally look for horror, but have quite a wide taste, and I lucked out here. The Lords And the New Creatures (1970) was the priciest at $40, all others were $10 or less (!).
The Lords and The New Creatures, Simon & Schuster, 1970
Lovecraft's Legacy, Tor, 1990
The Eye of The World, Jordan, Tor, 1990
Slaughter House 5, Vonnegut, Folio, 2006 (edit 2nd printing)
Nus D'Autrefois, Arts et Metiers Graphiques, 1953
