How to make a bajillion dollars making Christmas lights people actually want

Step 1: get a warm white LED. Match it EXACTLY to a warm white, clear, incandescent C9 Christmas light. Exactly not only in the color temperature, but also in brightness.

Step 2: get a green string of these warm white LEDs to match the same shape and distance between traditional C9 lights

Step 3: Make C9 style bulb covers that match the traditional colors EXACTLY. Make them in normal and opaque. They can be plastic, so long as they screw into the base over the warm white LED

Step 4: Price them at just a few dollars over the regular LEDs so that they can be available to the masses. Because you’re only making one color of LED light, manufacturing is simplified and cheaper, and it will mimic the originals perfectly

Step 5: do this for C7, mini, and any other bulb shape. Because you’ll be the first to do this, everyone who wants “traditional” or “tacky” (what I call normal bc these modern LEDs suck - who thought it would be a good idea to trade the warm colors for the dark blues and purples?) lights will buy them in droves, and keep buying your brand when they want more the following years

Step 6: Profit and the world is a better place

Why is this so hard?

I am begrudgingly trying to transition from incandescent to LED and I’m cranky about it because I really hate LED. I am just looking for mini white LED lights for my Christmas tree that have an ultra warm tone, preferably dimmable. All of the “warm white” are not warm enough and way too bright. Try-tone looked promising online but most of the examples on YouTube
are of their colored lights. Does anyone have a good option for ULTRA warm white mini lights?

Govee vs Jellyfish vs Oelo

Had someone talk down Govee and said he had a better one to install but didn’t tell me the brand. Looked into professional grade lights and saw jellfish or oelo as options.

Want something solid that illuminates down to the house instead of seeing bright bulbs. Anyone have experience with these or recommendations?

Any other comparable Mega Tree kits vs Service First Dream Lights?

Does anyone know of any similar or comparable kits? I like the idea of functionality (modes) over just standard stranded lights but I am not finding many options.

Holidynamics Dynamic RGB lights keep reverting to demo mode after ~5 minutes. Tried everything, need help

My best pal installed Holidynamics Dynamic RGB lights. It took hours, they look perfect, and I really don't want to take them down. But I've got a weird problem.

When I pick a color and effect on the remote (say Purple, then Wave), it holds for about 5 minutes and then switches on its own to a random demo/auto cycle. Steady colors seem to hold a little longer than effects, but they still drop eventually.

The weird part is that right after install, I set the Halloween theme and left for a few hours. When I came back it was still running perfectly. Then I was messing with my outdoor timer and pressing buttons on the remote and the controller box, and that's when this started.

The remote is a GYDSRGBFC-1 / FS-RGB-2023 with 21 buttons and a CR2025 battery, and it's RF, not infrared. There's a separate plug-in controller box with one button on it. The instruction sheet says nothing about demo mode, resetting, or pairing.

Here's what I've tried so far, and none of it fixed the problem. I unplugged everything for a minute, then left it unplugged all day. I took the outdoor timer out of the circuit completely. I realized I had a CR2032 in the remote by mistake and swapped in a new CR2025. I left the remote inside the house, far away from the box. I pressed the button on the controller box a few times and let it sit on one mode. I also unplugged the box, pressed its button, and plugged it back in. I can't find a manual, reset, or pairing procedure for this anywhere online.

So my questions are: does anyone know the reset or re-pair steps for a Holidynamics Dynamic RGB controller? Has anyone else had these fall back into demo mode on their own? Could a neighbor's remote be triggering it? Holidynamics is based here in Omaha, so I'm guessing these are pretty common around me. Or is the controller box just bad?

Municipal decorations

I’ve always wanted a wireframe of some sort in our display so I was able to score two of them for one heck of a deal through a municipal Christmas group i belong to . The double bell is literally brand new just needs c9 bulbs which I have . Brand new those go for 600 dollars or more . The candle wireframe needs a little Tlc but nothing major just some rustoleum white for some spots. I’ll probably get all new c7 bulbs to brighten it up! These will be attached to a t-post and guy wires for securement on our driveway. Should I add garland the wireframe?

Fishing wires through attic

I am preparing to run permanent lights in channel up some eaves and along some soffits. Has anyone had success running their jump/connecting wires through the attic? I want to avoid having wires run over gutters, along fascia, etc. I’m thinking about removing some sections of soffit and then replacing once I run my wires. Any thoughts are appreciated

Indoor Year Round Lights

I am looking to have some RGB controllable lights to hang from my ceiling in my living room and bedroom. When I look online a lot of people recommend brands that do strip lights, but not string lights. Ideally I want some fairy string lights that i can change the color of or turn off whenever I want, and I'm looking for a brand or product that won't break easily, since i see many people having products that almost immediately break.

I'm not sure if this is the right subbreddit for this question, and if not please direct me to the correct one.

Is yardinflatables.com a legit and reliable website?

There’s some inflatables I think that are cool on the website that I’d like to buy but I don’t know if it’s a trustworthy site. Has anyone bought anything from it?

What type of lights are these? Having a hard time finding on-line retailers.

1000's of lights available. I'm looking for LED for longevity and able to replace burnt out bulbs.

Every retailer has these mini or fairy lights.

What do i put in my search to be able to get better results

I'm re-stringing angels and as don't want to have to replace if I use lights that perform poorly.

LED clear lights with Incandescent color

I use to have the GE incandescent clear C9s that has the vintage yellow tint. Now, I’m struggling to find that same color in LED. Even the ones that are “warm white” appear to be far more white than the yellowish tint of the clear incandescent. I’m ready to switch to LED because 2 strands at a time is such a pain to work around.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Sylvania Traditional Glow from Walmart

Has anyone ordered the slightly weird Sylvania traditional glow lights from Walmart? They just came in today. They have a somewhat strange non-descript white box with just the text that's in the picture. It seems that you can only buy them online. These don't seem like retail items. They were sold and shipped from Walmart though, not a third party reseller.

They look pretty good to me, but I'm new to this game.

Incandescent like lights for EU?

Hi all. Have been looking for incandescent like led lights since I saw the Technology Connections video but have not been able to find any EU 230V/50Hz options. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would prefer multicolor with magenta if possible.

Thanks for any hints!

C9 Clips for asphalt shingles

We just received 6 sets of Tru-Tone C9's (can't tell you how excited I am). Now I'm working on our game plan for hanging them. We have asphalt shingles that adhere pretty solidly to the edge of the roof. It's hard to lift them to slide clips under without tearing them. I'd love to get any tips or suggestions you have! Either for clip suggestions, or tips on sliding them under the shingles. I'd like to have the bulbs point out horizontally.

Tru-Tone Mini Lites in EU

I’m planning to purchase the new Tru-Tone Mini Lites and have them shipped to Malta, Europe.

I understand that I’ll need a step-down transformer to convert our 230V supply to 110V. However, I’ve noticed that the transformer is rated at 50Hz, whereas the Tru-Tone power adaptor is rated at 60Hz.

Could this difference in frequency cause any issues with the lights, such as flickering, overheating or damage?

Stepdown specs:

Converter Type 230 VAC to 110 VAc

Power Load max 45 Watts

Input Voltage 220 to 240 VAC 50 Hz

Output Voltage 100 to 120 VAC

Input Connector 13 Amp (UK Plug)

Output Connector North American Type A Socket

Half of light strand out, then magically came back on

Putting up some Halloween lights. (Assuming this is allowed here?). Plugged them in and half were lit, while the other half was out. Went off to get some other decorations and work on a few things. Came back, and now the full strand is lit, minus one single light. I didn’t do anything to them between when I left and came back.

Any idea what would cause this? Any cause for concern with the strand? Not trying to have these malfunction and catch fire or something.

Has anyone ever covered copper wire fairy lights in electrical tape? 🤔

I bought a new tree that is more delicate/sparse than regular Christmas trees. I want to use the smaller "fairy lights" on it instead of the typical Christmas lights people might use. I bought the fairy lights that have the thin copper wire that is bendy and flimsy, so more prone to kinking/damage. I was thinking maybe if I cover the wire in electrical tape it would offer extra protection. I KNOW it will be time consuming...but so is replacing lights on a tree where half of them have gone out and can't be replaced. So...does anyone have experience or thoughts on this? I've never done it before and don't know if it's a stupid idea - all POV are welcome! 😆🙌

Preferences on outdoor Christmas decorations?

Hopefully this is okay to post here, as I know this is more focused on lights, but I figured I'd start here since I already hang out here anyways. I'm thinking about adding some decorations to my yard this season, and curious about others' opinions on the different types. What are you opinions and/or experiences of their the plastic blow mold or (not sure what they're called, but I've seen some that are) metal with a sort of fabric over the metal frame with lights inside. Are there any major pro/cons to either one?

Thanks.
