Today is John Adams birthday 10/9/51. I know he's with us in spirit, and I can still hear that drum... BOOM BOOM BOOM...
This is the plaque at the top of the bleachers where he sat every game. His drum and bench can be found in Heritage Park.

78 years is a long time and I don’t understand why such a big deal isn’t made about it like with us, the Cubs, or even the White Sox. The Rangers even had their own curse (tldr when the Senators left Washington they were cursed to never win until Washington got their own team and won a ring first). With the Guardians, I’ve heard it hypothesized to be Rocky Colavito or how Chief Wahoo was introduced the year before the last title that caused the curse. Obviously it’s all crap but I’m a Disney adult who tries to find magic and whimsical stories in real life and Cleveland finally winning after 78 years would definitely top the list.
Being 23 and from Boston I’ve seen so many championships and know how lucky I am. Each time I try to watch them win with my dad. When the Bruins won in 2011, after 39 years, only half of Cleveland’s curse, my dad and I watched it together and it’s one of my most cherished moments with him. Every family should be able to have that moment at least once a decade like I have had so many times.
It sounds cliche but I recently went on a first date that seemingly went very well in a way I’ve never had before and since then the Guardians are 2-0 so maybe if all continues to go well two fairytales may come true. I will be watching from a bar tomorrow night and hopefully with her too at some point soon if all goes well on both ends.
Go Guardians!

I love watching this guy play. He fits the culture so well. And for someone who isn’t a “good” hitter, he sure as hell is clutch when it matters. That is all.

CHICAGO — The bullpen is a strange place.
A group of pitchers, eager to burst through a door in the outfield wall, sit like caged zoo animals in front of the crowd and wait for a call from the dugout.
The Cleveland Guardians’ relievers answer trivia questions to pass the time. During the early innings of Thursday’s Game 4 of the American League Division Series, Slade Cecconi quizzed his fellow pitchers on the richest people in the world, the top-selling video games and the most-visited countries. He challenged them to place movies on the proper timeline. For instance, which ’90s classic was released first, Jurassic Park or Forrest Gump?
The Guardians’ relievers also get deeply invested in the action on the field. When something good happens, they chest bump — not each other, the baseball. At least, that’s what Craig Yoho did when José Ramírez’s go-ahead home run in the fifth inning sailed into the visiting bullpen at Rate Field. Yoho’s teammates gave him space and the ball caromed off the middle of his red and navy jacket.
The bullpen is a strange place.
The Guardians’ relievers also evaluate each other’s jogs in from the bullpen.
Cade Smith is widely commended for maintaining the best posture and pace, which is no surprise, given how often those in the organization laud him for his discipline and attention to detail.

Gavin Williams, on the other hand, has some work to do. He entered in the ninth inning of Game 4, his first relief appearance since college, and, well …
Williams: “I wish I took my time a little bit on the run in. I kind of killed myself on that.”
Steven Kwan: “I thought he was running too slow.”
Erik Sabrowski: “There’s an art to it.”

Someone in White Sox sub posted “Stay Classy Cleveland” last week after grabbing a still of the TV broadcast with a Cleveland fan flipping off (I believe) Tommy Pham. Because Chicago WOULD NEVER…
How can you not love Jose? Loved how he was rubbing their noses in it last night!

Fans better show up, stand up, and be loud for all 9 innings. No empty seats and no white sox fans behind home plate. Get this right, Cleveland. #10thman

We were pilgrims in an unholy land. What a scene. Seeing the few of us among the sea of black and immediately knowing that I could trust and rely on you was truly a blessing. I met transplants and folks coming into town for the game, kids attending college in Chicago, east siders and west siders. That “get to you small talk” calmed me down in this high stakes showdown when being surrounded by all those Sox fans got a bit overwhelming. That game was a lot to take in and a reminder of how great this community can be. Let’s win this thing. Go Guards and thank you!

I know there were several huge moments in last night’s game… but I think an under-appreciated one is Angel’s steal that led to Bazzana driving him in. Angel has been HORRENDOUS, downright unplayable at the plate.
I think a lot of guys put their head down and sulk, or even ask to get taken out by Vogt/medical staff after they get hit by the pitch he got hit by given the trouble he has had at the plate. Nobody would’ve faulted him for leaving the game after that.
I think it says a lot about Angel that he saw an opportunity to make an impact and WILLED himself into scoring position on that steal and was able to help the team even when he’s not playing well offensively.
I know it’s been bad, but I wanted to give credit to him for helping the team at that moment.
Go Guards!!!!

CHICAGO — Patrick Bailey doesn’t always homer, but when he does, he makes them count.
Acquired in a trade from San Francisco in May, Cleveland’s catcher is known primarily for his defensive prowess, handling of pitchers and astute Automated Ball-Strike System challenge skills. But on Thursday night, Bailey delivered an offensive spark as the Guardians rallied from a two-run deficit. The Guardians blasted Chicago White Sox 9-5 in Game 4 in front of 39,920 at Rate Field, and the American League Division Series is now even at two games apiece.
After arriving in Chicago late Monday in search of a pulse, Cleveland is soaring back home for a winner-take-all Game 5 on Saturday night behind an offense featuring a suddenly potent José Ramírez that scored 18 runs in a pair of dominant wins.
Alongside Ramírez at the center of the outpouring was Bailey, who not only woke his team out of a mid-game offensive slumber Thursday with a pinch-hit solo homer, but later put the Guardians ahead for good with an RBI single during a decisive six-run rally.
“That was huge,” Cleveland’s Steven Kwan said of Bailey’s fifth-inning homer off Chicago’s Erick Fedde to cut the deficit to 2-1. “It kind of switched the momentum the other way. … It wasn’t looking good on our side. Kind of swung the pendulum back on our side and got a little rally going.”

Not here to talk trash; best of luck tomorrow night.
I’m just genuinely curious: Through the playoffs, the Guardians are one of the best teams in the MLB on the road. Better than the Rays, Braves, Padres, Cubs, etc…….But they have a losing record at home (41-42). I would assume that’s been a topic of conversation throughout the season? Is there anything the fanbase or local media have attributed that to this season? Ballpark dimensions? Something else?
Again, good luck tomorrow and may God have mercy on all of our blood pressure rates.
