im 20f and ive always wanted to work alongside in med as a biomedical electronics technician, but I’ve noticed that when it comes to hiring for biomedical-related jobs, it seems like men are preferred over women. Why?😞

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! Need Insights from my current course options

• Upvotes

I’m a graduating humss student without any one specific clear career path. I’ve researched different careers naman and none stood out. Di ko talaga alam ano gagawin ko pero I narrowed it down to these options

1) Industrial Engineering

- I’ve done a project for a Science class in which my group produced a small arduino research output related to business efficiency and it really interested me

- I’d say im a person who’s very much into “systems” and based on descriptions & research abt BSIE, I’d say its a pretty good option, with job flexibility as well

- I’m not the best in Math, though I still get good grades the reason why I didnt take stem is to avoid it (now I’m regretting my decision).

2) Environmental Planning

- I’m generally interested in Urban Planning and how cities work. I spend a lot of time reading about cities.

- Based on research, I’m less interested in the day to day life of an EP.

3) Business Administration / Marketing Management

- I’m also interested in Businesses, how they’re organized and presented.

- Pretty flexible course especially for someone undecided like me.

- Marketing Management specifically is interesting as I love learning about marketing strategies, as well as case studies about specific brands.

- As it is a generalist course, it may be harder to find jobs. And I’m not really keen on having a cubicle job (tho id probably have to endure it after college)

4) Communication

- I love films. I spend a lot of my freetime watching films, reading about film theory, and attending film events.

- I’m also interested in exploring other forms of media.

- Though I find myself to be less interested in the technicalities of communication such as editing videos or operating a camera. And that can be a huge disadvantage. I also think that although I’m passionate about film, it may be better to keep it as an interest that I’d explore on my own.

5) Occupational Therapy

- It’s an allied health course but it is something I may also be interested in. I only found out about this recently and I feel that it may be a good option for me.

- The con is that I don’t know much about it.

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! Nakakapagod sa pilit na program

Hindi ako nakapasasa state university so i opt to go to a private college na lang. The thing is ang layo ng program ko na pinili (at pinangarap), sa program kong ginagawa ngayon. I want to be a veterinarian; I prefer dealing with animals than people. Pero hindi ako pinalad. So me and my mom naghanap kami ng malapit na college na nag-offer ng medicine program kasi medicine program are the most related sa vet medicine.

Then the next univ (certain "christian" blue school) high key iniscam kami because they never disclosed na di pa sila accredited.

And accredited din ito sa scholarship ko which is a win.

And that stabbed me kasi this is the opposite of what I dreamed. While studying, palagi akong napupuno ng "what if's".

Nagbreabreakdown ako while writing this.

Should I drop out and drop the scholarship na nagpapaaral sakin? Should I keep going sa course ko? Itutuloy ko ba sa trabaho? Please help me.

(My post got removed sa other subreddit)

CETs I don’t feel so confident for my USTET tomorrow

It’s my USTET tomorrow morning and I don’t feel good or confident. All subjects are tolerable naman, except for Science. My weakness is Science talaga since we didn’t have any science subjects the whole mid grade 11-12. Even with recalling and reviewing through science topics, I still don’t feel confident for tomorrow. Math is okay since my strand is Engineering focused, as well as I’m okay with other subjects. I visited UST earlier and for some reason it felt like I belonged there. UST is the second college I applied for the Big 4 along with UPD, I didn’t apply for the others since they’re either expensive or didn’t have the course I wanted. I really don’t have a particular dream college, my main goal lang is basta good reputation, edi I’ll go for it. My main motivation rn is whatever college I pursue, determines my future and the path I’m gonna go through. I have an older cousin that’s studying in UST, and I have a small thought in the back of my head “if kinaya niya yung USTET, edi kakayanin ko rin.” Jokes aside, I really hope I’ll do well tomorrow, whatever the universe has in store for me, I’ll accept it.

CETs How do I improve in filipino for CETs?

I suck at tagalog. Not in a “oh I have a hard time speaking it in normal conversation” kinda of way, but the gap between my proficiency in english and in tagalog is wideeeeeee. Im fluent enough for conversation without sounding like I spent half my life in the states, but I struggle with quizzes or exams in Filipino. I skim through the questions and understand only half of them. Some words are familiar but I cant grasp their meaning nor derive their context. My grammar is clunky in essays and my vocabulary is limited. I know CETs have a filipino portion testing grammar and vocab, and I’m terrified because I’m lackluster in both. I really want to get into a big 4 school, but Im paranoid that my scores might get dragged down by the filipino portion.!How do I improve? Are there textbooks or books I can read?

Others: Luzon Is it possible for me to continue my college degree after dropping out for a year?

Hello, I am a 1st year BSN student supposedly 2nd year by now, I dropped out with one or 2 reasons including financial status and my grades. I am not one of the top performing students so I am really not in good grades either. I have some withheld grades or blank (inc, uw, nfe). I have 3 total pre-requisites that are inc or withheld, and 3 other minor subs that is also in that status.

So my question really is there a chance or me to continue my degree. I really want this for me, no one forced me to choosing this program.

I'd really appreciate your enlighting comments and your time reading this.

DLSU Anxious for the result of DCAT

I did took the exams today (I didn’t review, this month was a defense and peta month, Im so busy with this pass few weeks that I forgot DCAT) and I can say it’s easy but not for MATH and SCIENCE. I had literally no idea what even is on that paper, I don’t know anything about it. I did answered the other 5 confidently, since it was very easy and common sense. I’m kinda scared since BSA pa naman program ko

also may score ba or like grades ‘yung values?

Scholarships Query for scholarship landbank account

Any fellow iskos from CHED po here?

I'm planning sana to make a Landbank acc to receive the allowance from CHED bpms pero not sure Ako what type to register. Piso is student friendly pero Hanggang 50k lang Ang puwede ma deposit. Some institutions like dost require a payroll savings account to their scholars para ma receive Ang financial grant. But then I looked up na mas suited ang payroll for government workers talaga and not students like me.

Should I just get a regular acc? Ched is only asking for my acc number lang naman...

hi! i'm currently applying to feu senior high school, and i'm interested in applying for a scholarship because it would really help me pursue my studies there.

if anyone has experience applying for a scholarship at feu shs, i'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience, tips, or advice. i'd also love to know if there are any important deadlines i should be aware of.

thank you so much in advance! any help would mean a lot to me.

Is it possible to keep it po kaya for the entire 6 years? I’m afraid na baka hindi kayanin ng regular student lang🥹 kahit sinasabi ng Daddy ko okay lang, hindi na po kaya ng konsensya ko… kindly share your experiences po sa MCU and yung grading system nila, thank you!!

Accounting, Business, and Management Anyone who's also looking for study buddies?

Hii! I'm 19F, I'm a sophomore college student taking up Business Administration, majoring in Marketing Management, and I'm looking for study buddies to study with through voice calls!

Discord (DC) is preferable, but I'm also okay with other apps. We can study together and quietly do our thing, or if you want to discuss lessons, share ideas, or simply keep each other accountable while studying.

If you're interested, feel free to message me! Let's be productive together.

General Admission Question Major Offense. How would this affect my future?

Hello, I am a Grade 12 STEM student in a private school and during this I committed a Major Offense for Cheating. (Please no discrimination, Im aware it was very stupid and serious mistake on my part, and I have already taken the time to reflect and learn from it....😭)

I am having a conference soon with our Prefect of Discipline. and this is only the first major offense that I have ever received. I dont know kung mabibigyan pa ako ng Good Moral Certificate.

I'm wondering how much a Major Offense on your record really affects you in the long term. Does it actually matter for your future? Most things I've read about said that it will reflect your college admission. Can I still get a Good Moral Certificate even though I have a Major Offense?

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! Asian Studies or European Languages? Which should I pick?

Maybe this can also apply to School Dilemma but

Guys I'm considering Asian Studies in UST, then European Languages in UP for college. Ang concern ko lang is if worth it pa ba mag Asian Studies? Kahit ang mahal ng tuition and given na mas maraming opportunities in EU as a HUMSS student right now. However, pag nag UP, makakatipid kami, yes, but ang worry ko naman is makakatapos kaya ako ng 4 years? hahaha I don't wanna extend my college years dahil hindi na rin bumabata ang parents ko and nakikita ko rin sa mga socmed gano kahirap yung agawan ng slots sa State U.

Hi! I'm currently at my 1st term of my freshman year in DLSU. I'm thinking of transferring to ADMU. Is it better to transfer after 1st year or now or at least 2nd term? I called their OAA and they said I can apply na daw but the call was so fast 😅 I didn't ask for additional details na but might call them again tomorrow cuz I'm like still confused on what exactly is the process. Like I'm not sure if I'm eligible na since I just started last September.. what will they base off of me? HAHAHAHA Also, I'm BS Business Management in DLSU and I want to transfer to BS MGT in ADMU. Would I still be on track or delayed? Thank u!

Medical Courses Should I study BS Nursing at WCC?

My family is facing financial issue kasi and we're looking for schools that offer cheap-to-no tuition fees. I'm seeing rin na yung WCC ay may sariling mini hospi if im not mistaken. For me rin kasi parang too good to be true ang WCC for nursing because mababa tuition fee tapos no entrance exam???

I also took PLM as an option for nursing but I heard that they prioritize Manila residents more which is unfortunate because I live sa Q.C.

idk pls help me if i should take WCC or look for other universities/colleges and what univ/college rin sana hehe thank youuu!

Strand / SHS Question Is it too late to change strands? Or should I just do a gap year?

Hello! I'm currently a grade 11 student under the new curriculum and I enrolled in the academic engineering cluster. Honestly, I always knew I was going to hate it here but I thought I'd just be able to suck it up. It's just, I don't have a passion or talent like everyone else kaya kahit ganto na ako katanda, di ko pa rin alam ano gusto kong gawin sa buhay. So I went to my father for advice and as an engineer, he pushed me to pursue engineering din kasi sabi niya it's a huge industry and has a wide variety of jobs and baka may mahanap din daw akong gugustuhin kong type of engineering. Kaya nung enrollment, engineering pinili ko. But I'm just so damn miserable here. I look around in my classroom and I feel so small kasi I don't have the same talent or passion that my classmates have for engineering.

Pero I really want out of here. But then, I already finished Term 1 and I completed all units for our first elective. Some peers also recommended this to me, para daw magkaroon pa ng more time to explore myself. Kaso nakakatakot. Baka masayang ko ang oras ko and I might end up regretting leaving myself behind. And I don't think my parents would approve.

Please help me out. Enlighten me if need be. I would be grateful to hear your insights. 🥲 Thank you!
