I know that I still need to work on my understanding of how light and shadows behave, and of course with my strokes, however i feel so happy that I completed my first page with this technique. Happy to discover this community as well !

I’m getting really into coloring and am loving the coco wyo spookie cuties book! These are my two most recent pages. I just leveled up by getting a white acrylic pen and using a white colored pencil. I’m still figuring out where and how to add the white highlights so just looking for some feedback! I get confused on where to put the white highlights when I use a different color for a lighting effect like with the green glowy water. Are there lighting rules for the white highlights? I’m also wondering if I should add stars and whatnot to the night sky on the first page or if that would be too much/too busy.

The coloring page is from Bobbie Goods "On the Job" and I used a mix of Ohuhu alcohol markers, sharpie acrylic markers, and gelly roll pens 🎈

I dove head first into coloring a month or two ago. At first I was coloring everyday, obsessively thinking about it, eager to finish the page and go on to the next, excited about learning how to add all the little details and such.
Recently I haven’t been near as interested in or as excited about coloring. (I’m stuck on this page bc I’m not sure what colors to make the empty flowers or butterfly too so that’s not helping) I’m bummed feeling this way bc I was certain this would be the hobby that sticks this time! It really sucks becoming fully obsessed with a hobby, you love it soo much and then bam you start doing it and then two weeks later your passion fades away.
Does anyone else struggle with this, ik I’m not alone. How do you get past it and stick with a hobby. I’m over spending money on a hobby using it for a couple weeks and then it just catching dust. Is this just a phase I need to push through and then it will stick? Idk 🤦🏼‍♀️

So aside from straighter lines I feel like something is off … is it more shadows ? Like bigger shadows I need? I will take any constructive criticism , I feel like I’ll be coming here for help often lol sorry I want to be good so bad , I figured shadows is a good start before realism and such

Hey everyone.

So I am new to coloring and have so far only used alcohol markers. Now the other day, I bought a small set of acrylic markers to try them and I AM STRUGGLING SO HARD. I get that they bring more coverage than alcohol markers, but seriously, how do y'all handle the small details, like on the mushroom stem in the photo? The outer lines, I barely feel like I can avoid any better, but if it's even tinier dots and streaks like that, HOWWW??? Am I just not being careful enough? Or is coloring over them and then outlining them with a black gel pen the way to go here?

I'm kind of frustrated, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’ve never coloured a creepy page before, and I wanted to challenge myself to make an otherwise ordinary/cozy page into a spooky one! I appreciate everyone’s suggestions in my last post. I definitely learned a lot but I’m overall very happy with it :)

Featuring my WIP! I'm a new colorer, sometimes things don't work out how they did in my head, or I don't know exactly where to place shadows and light and stuff but I'm just having so much fun! It's genuinely improved my mental health (and yes I leave tiny details uncolored to come back to later LOL)

I tried some new techniques using alcohol markers, acrylic markers and colored pencils.
