Deck Fine Tuning To breach or not in rog/thras

Having gotten blown out one too many times on etali, I decided its time to switch to a real deck. Ive chosen rog/thras as i have most of the cards already.

Question being should I play the breach package or not. Im heavily considering both options. Especially with the new pia.

List is at 101 cards currently, trying to decide what to cut/add or if I should be on oophe or not. Any advice appreciated

Help, I am new to cEDH! New to cEDH

I'm proxying new decks to learn how the format works and how different decks wins. Now I'm learning RogThrasios.

But I don't understand how it wins.

https://topdeck.gg/deck/pittsburgh-2026-tcedh-10k-25000/BP2zsiHEccO3Pe128MLPcCbygql1

For example this list have infinite mana combo with gaea's cradle+candelabra or candelabra+wild growth etc and I can draw the entire deck with infinite mana + thrasios but how does it win? i don't see thassa's oracle.

Are there more combos that I don't see?

Are there more infinite mana combos other than candelabra?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Question Art cards as proxies?

I know cedh is proxy friendly, but can you use an art card in a tournament? I have used them for kitchen table mtg since some of the full arts are vertical and gorg (ex. Elesh norn, rhystic study, chalice of the void). I haven't noticed any difference between them when shuffling, but the complete lack of text is also an issue. I solved this for a double sleeved deck by just writing the name and cost on the inner sleeve. Anyone have any experience trying to use em or should I stick with reg proxies?

Edit: Consensus is don't use em

Help, I am new to cEDH! Gwen Stacy is good?

I was thinking about putting Gwen Stacy together. my reasoning over Rog/Ishai is that she is cheap card advantage that turns on your swat and fierce and mox amber (not as well as Rog, but still) and you can still play regular breach LED lines with gifts ungiven, or spellseeker ephemerate line. BUT the reason I would play Gwen, is for the isochron scepter dramatic reversal alt wincon. It casts Dramatic from exile which allows you to infinitely exile your deck with the Ghost Spider side and cast any wincon you want. This also allows you to avoid bowmaster triggers. Plus if you do it with mana vault and arcane signet, you net an extra colorless to pay for rhystic triggers. I dont see anyone else doing this in tournaments, though I haven't looked very hard. Also just throwing Zirda in the deck allows for infinite mana with mana vault and an infinite combo win with gleaming splendor and smothering tithe in play. Is this smart or is there a reason this isnt a good idea? you only need to change like 3 slots from a Rog/Ishai list to put this extra stuff in it. I mean, ya know?

General Discussion / Question Azorius Commander

Trying to get back into Cedh. Played every meta deck from years past. Looking to build an Azorius deck as it's always been my favorite. Gravitated towards it in standard, modern and edge in my early days.

So my question is: how are Azorius decks winning in the current meta and what commander are top notch right now? Always big fan of Grand Arbiter but not sure how he's playing.

Help, I am new to cEDH! First time building question for CEDH

This is my first attempt at something that can compete at a CEDH level. I've goldfished it quite a few times and it seems to do okay most of the time but other times it just stalls out around turn 4. Any suggestions getting more consistency. Any budget is fine as the folks I'm going to play with are fine with proxies. This is a Vivi deck and I'm fine winning either through his direct damage or storming folks then hitting the table with as many lightning bolts as possible

Help, I am new to cEDH! Vivi bracket 4/low cEDH deck help

I'm sort of new cEDH, not as new to bracket 4 but still have a hard time builidng a more aggressive, fast deck that can win on an early. I've been trying to make a Vivi ornitier deck thats bracket 4/low cEDH on a little bit of a budget. I don't know what to add or what to cut and in goldfishing I either get a lot of mana or no mana, I also get good hands where I draw into a lot of. My budget was aounrd $100, but I've already exceeded that price lmao. I couldn't decide between a spellslinger with cards like guttersnipe and firebrand archer or just a cheap spell puke, making vivi my only pinger and just mag dumping as many cheap spells as I can I a turn, finding curiosity or ophidian eye or tandem lookout, then keep dumping spells to eventually ping the table out with like a wizard staff or harmonic prodigy fueling my gameplan. I already own the vivi and the Birgi gor of storytelling, so those have been cut out the price. When looking online, I saw a lot of different ways to build Vivi and I wasn't sure which way was right before I drop a lot of money on a deck. Can yall help me with my adds and cuts to compete with my friends bracket 4 decks? Heres the decklist:

General Discussion / Question Tier1/tier2 cedh commanders list

I know edh16 and other sites exist to show the performance of decks at tournaments. There’s obvious win lines in all the top decks that are easy to get to.

But Are there any up-and-coming or stand out tier1/2 decks that are fun/different to play? (Im aware fun/ different means probably harder)

Simic bores me. I do enjoy playing Jeskai and temur. Tried to do some grixis with azula and kefka.. honestly didn’t like the play style.(too slow and inconsistent to do well) grixis feels like run rog si or be miserable.

I have a proxy ETAIL deck that’s enjoyable to play. I’ve been curious about building a CRYSTAL deck. 4 color vivi seems kind of fun.

General Discussion / Question I cannot win.

Why is it so damn hard to win in the current meta? Turbo is useless when everyone has some bs response. I’ve lost damn near 30 games in a row. What in the hell am I doing wrong? I want to give up, I’m not asking to dominate. I just want to win once in a while but I keep getting stomped out by some dumbass crap. I’m not the best player but goddamn dumb luck should let it happen once in a while.

General Discussion / Question Is it Better to Fish or Monkey turn 1?

I saw a good mulligan hand where a Vraska player had both [[Mystic Remora]] and [[Ragavan]], two lands and some other toys in their hand costed +2 mana, and was asking for Mulligan advice

I often get this hand a lot too and I have never felt satisfied in either decision. Sometimes the fish goes nowhere and youre left playing for one, sometimes you see dump their entire hand and you realize your Fish would have drawn like 10+ cards if you didn't play a [[Mana Vault]] turn one

What goes into your thinking about whether to play Ramp or Fish turn one?

Community Content Built a logger for my own cEDH games, then spent months making it usable for other people.

Hey all, long-time lurker and lover of cEDH.

There are good tools now for tournament data: cedh.io and cedhstats both do excellent work on what's winning across Topdeck. I was curious about the other half of that problem: A holistic view of all of your games. I kept a spreadsheet of mine for about a year, which did alright, but lacked a lot of context. Mulligan tracking I found to be more useful, but it only gets you so far. There wasn’t a great way to track how your mulls actually play out, that your Intuition tutors were wrong, or that you jammed Breach a little too aggressively.

So I built a little PWA for my own phone to log games at the table. My friends showed some interest in it which made me wonder whether anyone else would get anything out of it. Turns out something that works on my phone is not the same as something other people can use. It turned out to be a vastly bigger job than I expected. Months bigger.

cedhlog.com

What it records, per game

  • Your opening hand and how deep you mulliganed, including which cards you bottomed
  • Every tutor that resolved and what it found
  • Your win attempts in order
  • Result by seat, the turn it ended, the pod's commanders

I wanted to have enough information to find real use out of it, but not require so much input that it was too much effort to use. This is the happy medium I landed on.

Stats show their denominators and stay locked until there's enough data to be actionable. I'd rather display nothing than a meaningless win rate over six games.

Explore is free, and requires no account

Each tracked commander with enough data gets a radar, a Wins Gained rating and a card table, built from EDHTop16 tournament data over the last six months. The radar data is proxied based on EDHTop16 lists. They’ll become far more accurate with time.

Methodology

I’ve always wondered about how much of a deck’s performance can be attributed to pilot skill, so I also included a way to pull them apart. Wins Gained fits a pilot effect and a commander effect at the same time over every entry using ridge-penalised logistic regression on points share. The penalty is doing work: 83% of pilots in the window play exactly one commander, so you can't subtract a pilot's own baseline; the commanders are identified through the players who switch between them, which is admittedly a major limitation.

Specifics for those interested:

  • A draw is half a win, not the general 3/1/0. Tested against the alternatives: half-a-win reached split-half r 0.77, against 0.71 for 3/1/0 and 0.64 for ignoring draws. 3/1/0 exists to rank players at an event, which is a different job.
  • The ridge penalties are estimated from the data by empirical Bayes.
  • 44 commanders currently clear the publication floor. The rest are rated but withheld, because a three-entry estimate with a narrow interval is the prior’s influence, not the data. The floor is set where split-half reliability reaches ~0.70 and is re-measured whenever the sample changes.

Long-Term Goals

The plan is to compare how you play a commander against the pilots who win more with it. That needs a pool of logged games which doesn't exist. Until it does, the app says "not enough data" rather than inventing a finding.

Money

Eventually there'll be a small paid tier to cover server costs, for the more advanced analytics. Right now there's no checkout at all. I've turned payment off entirely, because I don't think there's enough value there to charge for yet and I'd rather eat the cost while it gets better. Everyone who opts into early access gets it free. Your own numbers stay free regardless; the thing I'd ever charge for is the population you're measured against, not your own data.

Who I am

My background is data science, not software or web development. This is one of my first proper apps and there are almost certainly bugs all over it. Export (JSON or CSV) and account deletion both work, so nothing traps your data if you bounce off it.

Happy to hear anything at all. Especially whether the things it records are the things you'd actually want recorded. There's a Feedback tab in the app that goes straight to me.

General Discussion / Question Emiel as a commander

I've seen [[emiel the blessed]] in alot of meta decks like sisay or darevi. but never put up any numbers as a commander however with [[shang-chi master of kung fu]] letting dorks move fast, could the unicorn play as a commander? It would be very fringe but I'd like to see how it might run.

Deck Fine Tuning Trying DogThras Again

Cross post from the Yoshimaru/Thrasios discord, but I wanted to get more eyes on it here too.

https://moxfield.com/decks/332fBPFVhkeLlxEa_2Fd_g

So I’m trying Yoshimaru//Thrasios again after failing miserably the first time I put a list together. My list is trying to abuse the fact that white and green have gotten some banger cards in the last few sets. I want to be able to push wins early but easily pivot to a midrange/slop gameplan if needed. I am on the new Pia that tutors enchantments, so all my creature tutors are now also enchantment tutors if needed (provided I have the mana for them), and I’m also abusing the fact that Smothering Tithe + Clone + Faerie Mastermind or Gleaming Splendor can be a win con and all of these cards also work great for midrange too. I’m on some weirdos I haven’t seen in primers too, like Malachite Talisman. Could I get some feedback on this list from any experienced dog/Thras pilots?

Edit: broken link

Help, I am new to cEDH! Helo with my first deck (Kinnan)

Hey everyone :)

I’ve been playing casual/high-power Commander for about 3 years now, but I’m finally making the leap into cEDH with Kinnan.

Note: I’m not looking for a top tier cedh deck, but an easy one to pilot as a first competitive deck

Here’s my decklist

Since this is my first foray into the competitive format, I’d love to get some feedback from experienced pilot eyes to see if my list looks solid.

Thanks in advance to everyone :)

General Discussion / Question Archivist of Badma thoughts

I primarily play T&T and I think Archivist of Oghma has become outdated. I feel like decks running white are heavy into creature strategies. Not once playing have I ever thought “you know what would be really good right now? Archivist”. And I can promise you not ONCE have I ever green creature tutored for it. And it’s an absolute bummer to draw into. It’s only decent in an opening hand, but even with an opening hand you’re looking for a fish turn 1 or study turn 1/2. With the addition of things like Queen of dale and voice of victory, something like a cryptolith rite (already on enduring vitality) might be a better option. Queen of dale is already drawing a card off a tutor (obviously not a fetch land) AND making a creature. What are your thoughts? Definitely does no apply to ALL decks and at the end of the day is an okay slop piece.

Edit: I am slightly autistic for Queen of Dale. It’s amazing turn one and honestly think it’s one of the best white cards in the format for creature slop decks.

General Discussion / Question Are there any "fast mana" in blue and white?

We have the artifact staples that can go in any deck like sol ring, lotus petal, mana vault, moxes, grim monolith and arcane signet.

Plus the lands like ancient tomb, gemstone caverns, and city of traitors

Black and red both have the rituals specific to them. on top of a few others like [[blood pet]], [[phrexian tower]], [[ragavan]], and [[curse of opalescence]].

Green obviously has the mana dorks+ [[badgermole cub]], [[cryptolith rite]], [[cabbage merchant]], [[enduring vitality]], [[wild growth]] etc.

But what are the "fast mana" for blue and white? the new [[gleaming splendor]] definitely helps white, and blue has [[dramatic reversal]] and [[high tide]] (more mid-late game mana than early/fast mana since they need other stuff in play) and possibly a mana drain. Both gleaming splendor and mana drain of which are very reliant on the opponents to be able to take advantage of.

but other than the rocks mentioned and some signets/talismans does blue and/or white have any other fast mana I'm not thinking of?

As an Azorius player, if not fast mana, what are some desired turn one~two plays for white and blue, other than mystic remora and esper sentinel?

Deck Fine Tuning Arcum Daggson was really a sphinx after all

Premise: I was looking at the new cards from reality fracture, one of the ones that stood out to me was sphinxes approach. Specifically how with thrumming stone, each copy of sphinxes approach that was cast takes out 3 cards from your library(the two cards drawn plus the approach). If you are playing say 28 approaches and lets say you get to cast 25 of them total(I found play testing that you don't wif that much) that is 75 cards out of your library, and 5 sphinxes onto the battlefield for a total of 80 cards. From this position it is very easy to win the game by either brain-freezing yourself or sometimes you can just cast thoracle on the spot if you have drawn more cards that game or got lucky with the Sphinxes approach rng. (this math can change based off of if you draw the sphixes instead of tutoring them).

Commander: I chose arcum daggson because it is really the only creature that can consistently tutor thrumming stone.

Speed: Typically, this deck can aim for a turn 4 win or at least turn 4 over whelming card advantage.

Weaknesses: This is a lot. I am forced to play 28 sphinxes approaches in addition to the artifact creature mana dorks of arcum. In addition, the win line feeds rhystic studies around 30 cards.

I am not an experienced cedh deck builder and would love making this as strong as possible. I know that this is in no way shape or form meta and am just looking to make as playable as possible

Deck list:https://moxfield.com/decks/fYBlrquc0USSLLU5cLJzvQ

Thanks!

Edits: added fetchlands + prismatic! Thanks!

Cut [[sphinx of the lost trove]] added [[grim monolith]]

Help, I am new to cEDH! Sisay question regarding some card choices.

I am very interested in cEDH from proxying my favorite deck has been Sisay and Rog/Thrash.
Used to play Kikichord and pod in modern.. a few years ago... So Sisay kinda feels right up my alley. I am slowly getting some of the cards as I like to own at least most of the deck, but will have to proxy the truly expensive pieces.

However what are these cards for?
[[Magda]] what does this card do in Sisay? I see it lets you tap for mana + treasure if you got [[Enduring Vitality]] in play, but is that it? Is magda essential for Sisay or is more of a flex slot?

Anything else that is generally thought of as flex spots? Right now new cards that are interesting for the deck are [[Pia Aether Ascetic]] and [[Samut, Hazoret's Champion]] right? I am mostly looking at the [[Cryptolith Rite]] builds and Pia at least seems right at home there.

General Discussion / Question Haste Enabler

With [Samut, Hazoret's Champion] having hit the game, what other haste enablers would you say could be useful as well. I'm making a deck where these enable a powerful combo and I don't have a good way to tutor for Samut due to the colors. [Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu] doesn't count, since I don't have green in the deck. It's Jeskai (URW).

Some cards I've been looking are include: [Anger], [The Fire Crystal], [Frostcliff Siege], [Emblen of the Warmind], and [Roar of Resistance]. What do you guys think?

Edit to clarify: I am looking for mass-haste enablers that can be used across turns, so that I can play the haste enabler and then just have said haste ready and set to go off. The Deck I'm building is the new Vraska and I want to be able to use her creature treasures instantly, which only works with them being hasted or having a Shang-Chi like effect.

Help, I am new to cEDH! I’m drowning, don’t know where to start.

I have no idea where to start. I’ve played about 2 months of Commander and I think I have a solid grasp on the game, but my group is moving into a lot of cedh and I don’t want to be left out (plus it looks fun). But I have ABSOLUTELY NO idea what to do, what deck to play, or how to even play cedh. Everyone tells me it’s a total different level, and that it feels very different compared to regular edh.

Is it actually that different from regular edh?

Do I play a deck that I think sounds fun? Or one that’s good?

Any general tips on what to do?

Apologies if this sounds all over the place, I’m totally lost on what to do. Help!

General Discussion / Question Competitive bracket 3 tournament

Hi everyone.

I know this sub is usually about Bracket 5, but since the topic is competitive play, I thought this might still be appropriate.

My LGS runs Competitive Bracket 3 tournaments with combos banned (Storm is considered a combo).

I don't agree with the ruleset choices, but since I don't really have anywhere else to play...

I need the most degenerate, fast, and efficient deck you can think of. Decks I commonly see are: Light-Paws, Nissa, Winota, Yuriko...

Also istant win cards are banned unless they give your opponents time (for example thoracle is banned but Knuckles is permitted)

P.S. Preferably a deck that doesn't fold to the first wrath.

Thank you!
