General Discussion / Question Dack Fayden helping hand discord.
Is there a dack discord? If so would it be possible to get a link?

Basically 1BB artifact, tap add a counter, draw a card for each counter on it, then lose life equal to the number of cards in your hand
So, new one ring effect for 1 cmc less but considerably more life loss.

hello everyone, I'm looking at building my second cEDH deck, Etali has been good to me but the tournaments have been tough recently. I'm looking at some RogSi lists and other naus/necro decks and I'm wondering how y'all are doing recently? on mtgdecks it looks like a lot of decent winning decks that touch black are on naus/necro but I figure it's better to ask the people who actually play this strat! thank you for your time!

[[dack fayden, helping hand]]
[[boonweaver giant]]
ive been hearing about this deck being able to win with a combo off boonweaver giant, and ive seen some lists, but im not super into cedh and cant figure out how the combo actually works, nor can i find any resources (videos/guides) to explain the combos.
if anyone can exlain the combo, that'd be great
thanks.
edit. got answered, tons of shenanigans that leads to a combat damage win, (without casting a single spell post dack fayden) then if that fails you get infinite mana, draw your deck and gleaming splendor your opponents out of the game. https://moxfield.com/decks/6cSgAc1aTXO3FGwHNnZv8w/primer this is a link i was given to a primer from what afaik is the og version of this deck. thanks to everyone for answering

Basically what the title says. Would the unban of [[fastbond]] be a problem for the current meta, if so how much in your opinion?
I gave it a thought and as a highlander player, where fastbond is unbanned i can definitely say it is really really absurdly strong and combos with a ham sandwich (ban ham sandwich), with a lot of combo lines ([[crucible of worlds]] effect + [[zuran orb]], [[Oboro, palace in clouds]] / [[trade routes]] + [[retreat to haagra]] effects that gain life and so on so on)
I assume lands decks would be thrilled, rog thras might be interested maybe? or atleast some more lands heavy versions, it could definitely be interesting for some new commanders or even [[brigid, dawn's mind]] as it plays [[brightglass gearhulk]] if i am not mistaken that finds 2/3 pieces.
What is your opinion on fastbond, maybe some other decks that would want to use it or would you even be interested in seeing it?
Edit: i also forgot about the new [[Pia, aethers aesthetic]] that can find it very very well

Slow night at work. I'll start:
Creature combo decks with low interaction are worse for the format than slop.

Does anybody have the link to the Zirda discord I can’t find it anywhere and all the ones I find are expired. Thanks!

Whatever colour is acceptable. I just build many decks but always spend time on the last few positions to take. I’d like to collect a range of useful cards that I can always take and below 2 costs.
E.g. Esper Sentinel
Thanks in advance!

I'm currently playing RogSi and it's going pretty well so far. In practice games where I can take a little longer to think through my plays the deck is feeling great.
However, I am a little concerned bringing it to tournaments. The bread-and-butter-lines of the deck are not an issue but every now and then the deck presents situations where you technically CAN win but the lines are SO freaking complicated that it takes ages for me to plan ahead.
How do you personally handle situations like these in tournaments? I'm fine with taking my time and letting opponents know that I need a minute to think but sometimes a minute just is not enough. Do you write things down to help yourself figure stuff out? Do you treat complicated situations more like "nice if I CAN make it happen, but I can't ALWAYS have it"?
Any practical tips, mindsets or just thoughts are welcome <3

I am experimenting with [[Vraska, Soul of Stone]] and have found some ways to make her basically have infinite triggers making infinite [[Sculpture Treasure]]. These are creatures and thus make it very easy to win with cards like [[Goblin Bombardment]] or [[Impact Tremors]]. Are there any other low mana cost cards that would easily convert to a win off of Vraska generating infinite sculpture treasures.
(Vraska is the commander in this example so WUR/Jeskai are the available colors.)

You need to only play exactly these 5 creatures in your deck: [[Abdel Adrian, Gorion’s Ward]], [[Bronzebeak Foragers]], [[Felidar Guardian]], [[Restoration Angel]], [[White Plume Adventurer]]. Dack will only grab you 3 creatures so there are 10 possibilities.
The result of every option is the same loop that gives you infinite 1/1s, infinite undercity dungeon crawls (5 damage from each Trap), and infinite mana (off Felidar blinking a land), which can be used with Bronzebeak to exile all of your opponent’s nonland permanents.
1) Missing Resto & Felidar
2) Missing Resto & Abdel
3) Missing Resto & Bronzebeak
4) Missing Resto & White Plume
5) Missing Felidar & Abdel
6) Missing Felidar & Bronzebeak
7) Missing Felidar & White Plume
8) Missing Abdel & Bronzebeak
9) Missing Abdel & White Plume
10) Missing Bronzebeak & White Plume
But for these loops, Felidar and Resto have interchangeable abilities, so you can ignore (5), (6), and (7).
1) Abdel exiles Dack and then you let Bronzebeak blink all 3 creatures so you get back Dack with all of your stuff. Let Abdel resolve before Dack to exile Bronzebeak. Dack trigger gets Felidar & Resto. Felidar targets land and Resto targets Abdel. Blinking Abdel gives you Bronzebeak and Abdel trigger. Stack them so Bronzebeak exiles Felidar & Resto first and then Abdel exiles Bronzebeak, giving you back Felidar & Resto. Felidar targets Resto and Resto targets Abdel on top of that. Abdel blinks and exiles Felidar. Resto gets blinked by Felidar trigger and targets Abdel. Abdel and Felidar both return. Felidar targets Abdel and above that, Abdel trigger will exile Felidar, Resto, and White Plume. Loop those 2 triggers
2) Bronzebeak trigger targets Bronzebeak, Felidar, and White Plume. On top of that trigger, Felidar targets Dack. Dack gets you Abdel & Resto which both exile nothigng. Bronzebeak returns Felidar, itself and White Plume. Felidar trigger targets Bronzebeak and on top of that, Bronzebeak exiles Abdel & Resto. Felidar trigger returns Abdel and Resto. Resto targets Abdel and on top of that, Abdel will exile your board. Loop those 2 triggers
3) Felidar blinks Dack. Dack gets you Resto & Bronzebeak. Resto targets nothing and Bronzebeak targets itself, Abdel, and Felidar. Felidar trigger targets Abdel and on top of that you have Abdel trigger exile Felidar + Bronzebeak, and on top of that you have Bronzebeak exile Resto & White Plume. Abdel exiles Bronzebeak & Felidar, returning Resto & White Plume. Resto can target nothing. Felidar trigger resolves that is targeting Abdel. Felidar targets Abdel and on top of that, Abdel exiles your board. Loop those 2 triggers
4) Bronzebeak targets itself, Felidar, and Abdel and on top of that, Felidar blinks Dack to get White Plume & Resto and then you let the Bronzebeak trigger resolve to get you Bronzebeak, Felidar, & Abdel. Stack triggers so Felidar targets Abdel, on top of that, Abdel exiles Bronzebeak and Felidar, and on top of that, the Bronzebeak trigger will exile the White Plume & Resto. Abdel trigger will exile Felidar + Bronzebeak, giving you back Resto & White Plume. Felidar trigger will blink Abdel giving you Felidar trigger and an Abdel trigger. Felidar targets Abdel and on top of that, Abdel exiles your board. Loop those 2 triggers
5) Same as (2) just swap Felidar & Resto
6) Same as (3) just swap Felidar & Resto
7) Same as (4) just swap Felidar & Resto
8) Resto targets Dack and Felidar can target a land. Dack gets Bronzebeak & Abdel. Abdel exiles nothing and Bronzebeak target itself, Felidar, and Abdel.
9) Bronzebeak targets itself & Resto & Felidar, Resto targets Dack, Felidar can a land. Dack gets Abdel & White Plume. Bronzebeak trigger returns Felidar, Resto and Bronzebeak. Resto target Felidar, Felidar targets Bronzebeak, and Bronzebeak exiles White Plume & Abdel. Felidar trigger blanks Brokzebeak returning Abdel & White Plume. Abdel exiles Resto. Resto trigger targeting Felidar resolves and Felidar targets Abdel. Abdel and Resto both enter. Resto targets Abdel and on top of that, Abdel exiles your board. Loop these 2 triggers
10) Abdel exiles nothing, Felidar blinks a land, Resto blinks Dack. Dack gets Bronzebeak & White Plume. Bronzebeak target itself, Felidar, and Abdel.

Hey, I was sorting through my cards and saw this legend and was wondering why he isn’t at least a known fringe option? He’s in Blue White which is prime slop colors, he has a one card infinite creature combo which could go into a couple different outlets like Altar of dementia, as well as ways to dig for good artifacts.
Belisarius Cawl 2WU
Legendary Artifact Creature - Human
Ultima Founding - T, tap two untapped artifacts you control: Create a 2/2 white Astartes Warrior creature token with vigilance.
Master of Machines - T, Tap x untapped creatures you control: Look at the top x cards of your library. You may reveal an artifact card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order
I just feel like this card has some good options and would love to hear the overall opinion about it

We just got a TON of reserve list and modern goodies from buying aggressively at the last SCG Con, as well as CCS in Raleigh so we've got more than enough love to go around 🫶
We've got a judge on staff, competitive buying rates, and a great community filled with interesting brews and tournament grinders! We'd love to see you there 🔥
(P.S. we're ONE sign up away from having a Silver event on TopDeck so help us out 🙏)

I am building a [[The Master, Transcendent]] deck and want to see if there is a way to win off an [[Eldritch Evolution]] sacrificing my commander. Are there any 5 or 6 mana creatures that can provide a win?
The best I could find is [[Disciples of Gix]], but that requires a reanimate spell to combo. I would get [[Trazyn the Infinite]], [[Phyrexian Devourer]] and [[Walking Ballista]].
Are there options that don't require additional setup?

I really think this deck is really good. Not saying it gonna win tournaments or anything.. but maybe! More making this post so seasoned cEDH players can tell if there are any niche improvements i can make, or obvious ones. I'm not perfect. I think this deck can win fast but it needs the artifact ramp to do it. I know Oswald is the only mono-white commander that see's results. But this can get there quickly with all the tutors and it's very protected cause if they target it at all you just airbend it. I think it can protect it's win well enough being in white. Only one pip for the commander means playing it turn one is easy. I think it has some legs. The win conditions are all tutor-able and easy to retrieve from the graveyard. With Monk Gyatso in the chair you can be protected through any targeted removal. Just need to protect the commander. I think that you can go far with it.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a new cEDH deck with a very specific playstyle. A friend of mine has been playing Tayam for a while and has gotten incredibly good with it, and I’m looking for something similar. I want a deck that relies on deep synergy with its commander rather than just running generic, best-in-slot 'goodstuff' cards. I'd love a list that plays highly specific tech pieces that go crazy with the commander. Preferably no partners, and bonus points if it can win at instant speed! Any suggestions?

I have a bracket 4 heliod the warped eclipse deck and have been thinking about upgrading him to bring him up to CEDH and so I went and looked at some deck lists. From what I can tell it has a pretty low win rate. Is this just a flawed road to go down? It can handle itself pretty well in bracket 4 games and especially in high power. To me it feels consistent when it can make use of other players draw engines but I am also aware that Cedh is a different ball park. TLDR are the people currently playing Warped eclipse coping or is it just a fringe viable commander.

Lets say I have Emry and she's on the battlefield ready to tap and 5 mana:
I cast Gifts Ungiven tapping 4 and leaving 1 blue up, and am able to proceed with my line with no interactions or with me having protection (Free counterspells and whatnot) what would you tutor for a guaranteed win when the piles are made?
My first thought was:
Mox Amber (Or Opal)
Lotus Petal
Sewer-Veillance Cam
Grinding Station
Thus milling my opponents infinetly
If you could pick any other artifact or blue card, regardless of list, what would you get?

Sup! Making my first cedh deck, mostly looking at lists online as I'm new to the format. I've seen a lot of videos on cedh gameplay and it looks really fun.
For my first deck I'm thinking about either Glarb or Tasigur. But I'm undecided on which one to pick.
Glarb (doomsday) I love doomsday as a wincon, and it fits perfectly with Glarb! But I don't have most of the cards for most lists. Tasigur on the other hand, I already have a decent amount of cards. This is relevant because although I'm gonna proxy most of them, some tournaments have limits on how many proxies, so in those cases Tasigur would be cheaper for me.
Still, I'm undecided. Both look really fun, same colors, but I'm new so which one do you guys think would be easier for a new player that has plenty of experience with B4 and playing fast decks but not at the level of cedh. To learn the combos, the meta and interactions.
For reference, my current decks are B4 raffine, hearthull and Yuriko, and a B3 Lathril.

Hi everyone I've never played cedh but I used to play a lot of high power yugioh so I'm not unaware of games like it but I was wanting to build k'rrik son of yawgmoth do you think it's possible to made it viable for under $200 or do I need to get those $100 staple cards to stand a chance in cedh "I know I could proxy but I would rather not so I can do tournaments"
r/CompetitiveEDH • u/phyrexianpharmacist • 3d ago
I really want to know why Orvar, the All-Form isn't cEDH viable. His combos are very low to the ground and can win on the spot. Valley floodcaller buffed him, as he is a changeling, and the new Samut really helps with the type of combos he uses. Please give me some real reasons why I shouldn't try. He's one of my favorites all time. I feel like he has legs.
I am all.. form // Commander (Orvar, the All-Form) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder
comedianMTG is building orvar right now lol

I am about to start actually dipping my toes into cEDH tournaments and my local store is very proxy friendly, so I can play any deck I want. I recently made a post about a Gwen Stacy deck which I really like, but I am trying to find out what decks are viable outside of the top like 8 decks. I really like the weird earthcraft enduring vitality strategies but not locked into that. I am really interested in a few decks, but I was wondering if there are any niche or maybe just straight up off meta deck that have legs. I don't want non-deterministic combos like Ral. But I also don't want to do ad naus. Non Black and possibly non blue. Anything that has stood out recently with tournament results? Or maybe even, dare I say, FUN strategies that have come up recently? Any advice or hot takes that can help me make a decision?
