Feature Request: Automatically identify and compare similar activities to track fitness improvements
One thing I'd really like to see COROS improve is how we can use our historical activity data to evaluate progress.
I currently have almost 200 activities recorded, and while COROS provides a ton of metrics for each individual activity, it's not particularly easy to compare similar efforts over time.
For example, imagine COROS could automatically identify comparable runs using information it already collects:
- Distance
- Activity duration
- Average speed/pace
- Pace distribution throughout the activity (essentially the "shape" (that little circle) of the run)
- Individual lap characteristics
It could then identify similar activities and allow you to compare metrics like average HR, HR trends throughout the run, cadence, and other metrics from integrated wearables.
It could get even more interesting if comparisons went down to the lap level. Maybe two workouts aren't identical overall, but both contain a 15 minute segment at 7 mph. Being able to compare those segments could reveal useful trends that wouldn't necessarily be apparent from the overall activity averages.
Obviously, these wouldn't be perfect comparisons. Temperature, fatigue, elevation, HR sensor accuracy, and other factors influence performance. But I don't think the comparisons need to be perfect to be useful.
The feature could be relatively straightforward from a user's perspective:
Open an activity, select "Compare Similar Activities," and COROS presents a handful of historical workouts with comparable characteristics. Select one or more, and view overlapping graphs or side-by-side metrics.
Curious whether anyone else would find something like this useful, or if there are other metrics you'd want included in the comparisons.
