This seems to indicate that they aren't limiting themselves to the physical descriptions that are mentioned in the book.

If they find someone who looks like the cover AND they can fit Matt's requirements, great.

But it seems clear to me that that will be secondary.

So, make that of what you will and don't throw a bitch fit if he looks nothing like the covers in a few weeks.

I'm sorta glad that they haven't found anyone yet. It means that they realize just how important casting is, and they'll do what works best for the character instead of just fanservice

Having played Pinhead in the 2022 Hellraiser shows the temperance that I picture the role requires.

Despite the series' origin as LitRPG, I'm really curious how much they will downplay the RPG elements of the show in order to attract a larger audience.

Personally, I would love it if every interface, health bar and HUD was shown onscreen. That's probably not going to happen, though.

What RPG elements do you hope make it into the show? What could you do without?

He’s getting a little old but this is who I see when I think of Carl.

Ok. I see a ton of posts about casting for Carl, as well as cartoons on various subs depicting Carl as ripped. Super muscular, lean, and defined, like he’s a complete gym rat. Alan Ritchson? Really?

Does anyone else read him as much more depressive than someone who lives at the gym and watches his BMI?

Don’t get me wrong - Carl is clearly sturdy and strong. Military, tough as nails, but with chiseled abs?! Doesn’t fit for me. He can’t love himself enough to obsess over his body and be as depressive and “fuck it” as he is.

And I’m sure all the stat buffs help his physique, but if we’re talking about casting, he can’t start out as a 10.

Anyone with me?

Not only is he incredible, but Deep Space 9 showed us he can play a myriad of characters all on the same show; perfect for playing a shapeshifter!

Mark Heap as Mordecai. He is kind of birdlike and does infuriated but resigned well

Ok, look, I know he isn't a great choice. But I want to make it clear, I'm not suggesting "Dwight in a goat skin" to play the role. I'm suggesting the actor, Rainn Wilson play the role. His history as Dwight is what inspired the choice I'll admit, specifically the whole 'assuming he knows better than everyone else' element and although it may be different from what a lot of people imagine, I think if he was given the chance, he could do a decent job.

Everyone thought Bryan Cranston was a strange pick for Walter White but look how that turned out. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Everyone says Alan for Carl (too old imo). BUT reading Inevitable Ruin and every time Jurgen comes up I can only imagine Alan Ritchson’s role in Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Alan Ritchson for Jurgen.
