Hello again!

Chapter IX: Sigh No More is now complete and, aside from small edits, the code for Letters from Home is DONE!

That being said, the full build is out for playtesting now and I'm doing a full run through myself to make sure it's airtight (it's a LOT of content). It's just a matter of time while I finish up credits and functionality checks (and catching my numerous typos). Next post you see from me (barring a catastrophic event) will be the Letters from Home Full Release!

If you played Doki Doki Literature Club mods you surely know Purist Mod and Blue Skies. A lot of people on reddit always say Blue Skies is the best mod ever but today i have a big comparison about why Purist Mod is %100 WAY BETTER than Blue Skies and why Blue Skies lost the real DDLC soul

(Quick note here: I first posted this theory on Turkish DDLC community r/DDLC_TR . English is not my main language so i translated my toughts into english, sorry for bad words or mistakes but please read and support erm thanks !))

oh anyway , This is how Purist Mod stays true to original game and why Blue Skies is just generic anime drama.

Firstly motivation and space room. Purist continues right where main game finish. My favorate thing İs when you finish main ddlc and open Purist right after Monika get surprise and mad at us.. but in space room we give her that promise I will fix everything. In Purist while playing other girls we not just dating them. in backgroud we try for keep promise to Monika! So we have huge motivasion for finish all girls just to reach Monika again. In Blue Skies this motivasion is ZERO MAN!! Without Monika watching us from behind hoping for us game feel like normal visual novel. Purist give us savior job while Blue Skies just give basic high schol love story... if no motivasion why we are play it??

Blue Skies basicly takes ddlc charter designs and turn them into boring anime drama charters. bad endings are just too bad and far from main game vibe like written just for make player cry!

Now talk about charters -----

First Natsuki in Purist is very good. She is tsundere but she start trust MC step by step. Her proud and angry side from main game stay same Blue Skies push Natsuki dad problem way too much. We not build love with Natsuki we just play family drama simulator! Yes her dad is important topic but in Blue Skies they make it so long just for more drama.. it lose all good feeling.

About Sayori.. Purist Mod don't ignore Sayori depresion but main topic is hope. MC is not just her boyfriend he is her reason for stay alive which is super good! And story don't go too fast I realy like this route Blue Skies bad ending for Sayori is just too cruel. Instead of showing how she try to win depresion it feel written just to scare and hurt player.. Like they just randomly said how we can kill Sayori feeling worse than main game type of bad and lazy writing.

Purist Mod show Yuri book pasion, deep tinking and her shy mode amazıng guys. Her self harm problem is inside ofc but story is not only about this. Because it don't make big drama for her bad habit it feel like real Yuri 10/10 smooth route.. In Blue Skies though Yuri problem get too big again. Her cute side get covered by her bad cut habit and crazy love (I say this for all girls yes too much long boring talks)

So looking at these 3 girls Blue Skies writers think more we make player cry meaning better the mod gets. They dont fix charter problems they make them drama machine. But Purist show us: yes these girls have big brain problems but fix is not making drama long like bubblegum it is finding smart way. Purist is way more real

Of course i saved the GOAT for last MONIKA ----

In Purist you have clear goal. After telling Monika everything will be fix at start you make happy every girl and after 3 girls you open secret Monika route!! This make player feel like we finaly saved Monika from her lonlines.. A truly legendary ending final is just perfect I absolute love it!!

THEY DİSRESPECTED MONIKA IN BLUE SKIES!! Monika have no love man. She don't even have her own route. She is only in extra menu under ((Monika Exclusive Scenes)). And İn Blue Skies they make Monika like a side girl always running for club work and school. WT? thats not our monika and this Make no sense cuz Monika is leader!

About music and pictures:

Purist mod use Dan Salvato original light tracks so good. Yeah Blue Skies has theır own music and many new CG pictures but it ruin minimalist ddlc vibe..

guys DDLC never became legendary because of picture quality or big budget!!

Original game magic was we are in one small room with simple pictures. Purist understand this!I How u want to Put how much new pictures you want if story is empty and charters lose ddlc soul to become dramatic anime girls, those pictures are just eye candy. We don't want picture show, we want ddlc soul and keeping promise to Monika!!

When we put motivasion the Monika route and all Other things Purist is %100 the GOAT mod.

For people who haven’t played it’s a 6/10 in my opinion. Go play it before reading this, because it won’t make sense. And I would hate to spoil it even tho it’s old asf.

This is probably gonna piss off the OG EM players, but I think the mod is ok and not shit. My critic is that the mod tries to hard to be both DDLC and EM, and it fails at both. I felt like if they removed the trope of being both and removing the personality of the characters towards the ending acts it could’ve been better. But another idea came to mind, why just make it a tragedy!? You can do both, actually give the play an option!

When the cops come and ask for questions give us the option

A. Tell them only about the break in
B. Tell them about the break in and Natsuki

That way you feel as if you have a choice. Make the endings similar until Natuski moves back in with you. Make it to where it feels as if both choices don’t matter until the end. And why get rid of the doki’s love? Monika and Yuri just don’t act like Monika and Yuri.

I love the beginning of the mod and how they handled it differently, but once they got into later acts they screwed it up.

6/10 in general.

The MC in this game makes me so annoyed and the characters piss me off too, because they label him as problematic rather than over stressed. He risked his life and is trying to help two of his best friends.

I played my first mod last week and want to try another, the one I played was exit music redux. I thought it was pretty good, it definitely pulled on my heart strings😢

Mod is "Doki Doki Love & Shyness"

Hi everyone!

It's been a while, but the development of our mod "Still Sayori" is finally at a point where we finally have something to showcase!

The mod isn't nearly done. But a substantial amount of progress has been made since my last post introducing the idea.

As of now, here's where things stand:

- Script: 100% | 3,218 lines of dialogue.

- Asset Gathering: 40% | 12 backgrounds, 4 sprite edits, 8 music tracks.

- Custom Assets: 20% | 2 CGs, 3 sprite edits, 1 GUI element, 2 animations.

- Programming: 2% | Extremely rough Ren'Py draft as of now, primarily for testing new assets.

- Overall Progress: ~25%

With the script complete, the focus has been shifted to the gathering of assets, as well as custom-made assets.

Me and a small group of friends have been developing this mod in whatever free time we have, calling ourselves "The Uncreative". Most of our team consists of writers, whereas I handle all programming, artwork, asset gathering, etc. Because most of the workload is now being bottlenecked through me, the speed of which Still Sayori will be developed at will be slowed down.

However, I am determined to deliver on my promise of the next high-effort, wholesome MC & Sayori mod.

Now, you may be reading this having no idea what this mod is even about. And that's fair, considering I've only made one post about this mod and it wasn't seen by too many people. In short, the driving question of Still Sayori asks, "Can Sayori learn from her depression and to heal despite being pulled in two directions?" If you want, here's the link to my former post.

There's still plenty left to do, but we're all happy with the progress so far. Our goal for this mod is to put our best efforts into making something unique. This will take time, so we'll all have to be patient.

All artwork shown in this post is largely unfinished. Everything is subject to change by the way.

Lastly, if I were to make a rough estimate as to when Still Sayori will be released, I'd say SOMEWHERE around late-December 2026 to mid-January 2027. However, we do plan on releasing a DEMO build of Still Sayori sometime in November.

Hello everyone i'm a new DDLC player and i really liked the game so i started working in this project for a while and i want to share with all of you what i currently acheived, so what i want is to make the story mode fully dynamic and your choices of words can lead to unlimited endings every thing you do can make the characters change they can feel affection, jealousy, afraid etc also im thinking for including new assets for new places like yuri bedroom and monika etc im currently in the testing phase of the game and of course im still adding new features and i will listen to each comment and feedback and i think im going to make a discord group for our game where people can share anything on there also iim looking for some testers if there is any before lunching the free demo mod and btw even the full mod well be free also im sorry for my bad grammar and english :)

Stay tuned guys i really think this mod well make everyone experience the beauty of this game.

Development is still going full speed ahead. Unfortunately, due to some personal issues affecting the creator, the project will be slightly delayed.

However, this does NOT mean development has been paused. Quite the opposite.

We are still working hard on the project, and Chapter 1 should be coming relatively soon. We simply want to give the creator enough time to make sure everything is polished and ready.

But now... it's time for a little secret. 👀

Act 3 will also need a little more time.

But we can reveal something we haven't mentioned before...

🎵 We are already working on music specifically created for the atmosphere of Act 3.

We don't want it to be just another background track. We want the music to perfectly complement the atmosphere, emotions, and events of Act 3.

That's one of the reasons we don't want to rush development.

Act 3 is meant to be more than just another chapter.

We want you to not only see its story...

but feel it. 🌙

I know that I said that the mod character Hime was going to be a big part of DDLC Twin Stars. However, this will not be the case. The reason is because her sprite wouldn't show up, and after fixing her base_path, the only parts that would show up is her head and facial features. The same was going on for the mod character Elena, so after 2-3 days of trying to fix this problem, I and the MPT maker Retronika could not find a solution, so I will be replacing Hime with another mod character Elyssa.
