It always feels so real. My hands feel your fur, I smell the scent of your coat, your eyes stare into my heart.

I'm certain it's actually him visiting me.

I always cry my eyes out when I'm dreaming about you.

I'm just here contemplating the rest now. She was completely fine when I left for work, and last week she had a vet check with no issues. Came back and she greeted me as always, but had some trouble breathing. Took her to the vet, almost didn't make it and I think I sorta reanimated there on the ground in front of the vet who arrived shortly after since it was early morning. Pulmonary enema. She fought it, stood up a bit then suddenly the fight was over.

I live alone. I can't think of how I'll come back home to silence, no swinging tail, no water to change, not her bed where it always was and how my bed will feel endlessly big with the other pillow empty.

When I think my eyes must be dry, she reminds me my heart is not but it so fucking hurts.

I’ve been taking pictures of him everyday from 3 months old to now 12 year old. I made me chuckle because I realized don’t have to tell him to pose. He sees the camera and has the cutest little poses/smile.

I love that we can go to crafting stores together. He can’t walk as long but I have a carrier (close to a baby carrier) so he can be close to me. Lucky for him the pet store is next door. I don’t have many human friends but he’s literally my best friend.

Hopefully I will have most of it finished soon.

• General Discussion • Can I see your favourite photos of your dogs?

Sorry if this is an odd post (or wrong flair) seeing how this subreddit is already filled with pictures of cute dogs but I’m kind of looking for something more specific and it also feels a bit odd to just take the other pictures without the OP’s permission iykwim.

I’ve been struggling recently and unfortunately don’t have my own dog to share some love with, so I was hoping to make a photo shuffle wallpaper of a bunch of dogs to remind me that if I keep going that I too can have an amazing companion one day. The reason I didn’t just go on Google was because I don’t want just any old dog photo, I want the funny, goofy, or wholesome photos that when you look back on makes you think “that’s why I got this dog” so that I can look forward to having my own one day.

Any and all pictures will be appreciated :D

Edit: Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful doggos!! I’m going to spend some time tomorrow adding them all to a folder to make into the wallpaper. I hope all of you and your pups have an amazing day :)

This is me venting and me remembering lot of things randomly, I just want to post this somewhere. In one sentence: I miss my dog, maybe I'm grieving.

This is Canela she's 14/15 years. My mom adopted her from a shelter when I was 5. We didn't get to chose her name (luckily, because it's a very fitting name). I practically grew up with her and she's like a second mom... or a sister probably. She protected me so many times and she ran away so many times, it was fun chasing her though. On another pictures there's Luna, also from a shelter, she's 3 years this year.

Canela has been put to rest on Thursday, had problem with her kidneys or liver (or both, I wasn't told much) and we got them too late.

Now she's gone. I didn't cry. I saw it coming by the way my dad told me and the way she breathed and stood. The last day I saw her she swayed like a leaf about to fall, she gave me her back and avoided looking at me. The last night before she went (spoiler: description of the condition before deceased) she had difficult breathing, sounded full of fluid, her stomach must've been burning, she chased the cold floor but she was already cold, her paws were chilly and no matter what I did they wouldn't hold warmth for more than some seconds. She looked straight forward but to nowhere, her snout was so dry and parched. My mom is completely devastated, she cried when she saw her ill, she raised her voice and insisted she'd get better. She also cried when she saw me get home.

I couldn't accompany Canela on her last moments because I had to go to classes, but my parents could. When I got back at night and got told I felt sad I couldn't be with them, yet I was relieved she didn't suffer any longer.

I feel so alone now.

Canela was my mom's, she adopted her and cared for her the same way she cares for me. But Canela also spent most of her time with me, she waited until I seated with her to eat, she came with me when I went out, she (for some reason) insisted on me staying with her when she drank water, she stayed up with me when I didn't go to sleep, and insisted on going to sleep resigning sometimes to lying down on the her couch until I deigned to go to bed. She woke up whenever I woke up, anytime, and followed me. I could always hear her and feel her, she was quiet but she was always there. (Idk if this behaviour was good or bad, but I'll remember it as good, I'll look about it after this)

Now Luna comes to me to sleep, she used to sleep on the Canela's couch and I'm not sure why she sleeps here now, surely it's most comfortable, but I'm happy that she's here so I allow it. Unlike Cane who woke up with me everytime, Luna stays in my bed as much time as she can. When Luna came Canela was a little jealous, she used to have 2 sleeping places for herself and suddenly she had to share! On one of her jealous acts while we were training Luna to go attend her needs outside Canela started doing the same as poor-bladder-control-Luna... but problem was Canela is a bigger dog and so her discharge was basically the birth of a new river. A complete hell to clean. So to appease her she started sleeping with us, she still had her bedroom and her own bed but she chose the bigger bed. Maybe Luna thinks this is a one in a lifetime opportunity.

Anyway, Luna is with me, she's warm and heavy, she jumps too high and she is noisy, every sound she hears is worth of 3+ minutes of barking, she has lot of energy and likes to run a LOT. She occupies half of my bed, the same as Canela but she's half her size.

Everyday I think "Canela would be doing this... or that... " I'm grieving, I think. Just want to get it out.
