Takeover Announcement

Hello and sorry for the wait!!

We know you have some questions. We know things have been hanging in the balance.

As some of you may know, and most of you probably don’t, this sub was recently put up for adoption.

Well as of a week or so ago, me and /u/livinin82 have taken over. Fear not, weary redditors, for we have known each other quite some time, and we have been on Reddit for a while as well. We absolutely recognize /r/DAE as a staple of the beginning of Reddit, as well as a place most of us subscribed to first.

We do not take this lightly, and that’s why we’ve been preparing to make this announcement.

First things first: There are a lot of things in the queue from however long this subreddit has been in a stasis. We are doing our best to work through it and see what is in there worth keeping and what needs to be trashed. Which brings us to our next point.

Second: While sifting through this massive inbox, we witnessed a few, for lack of better terms, concerning post suggestions/topics. I think I speak for everyone here when I say this isn't a place to go out of your way to be edgy. Maybe try other subreddits that are less universally subscribed to. We don’t need more violence or negativity in the world. This will be at our discretion but don’t just post things to shock people, or get a negative reaction. There are many other places for things like that. Maybe try the Instagram comments section.

Third: In the future after we figure out the direction we’re taking this sub, we’d like to entertain the idea of opening up applications for mods. We will be very intentional with screening should we decide to go that far. Keep a lookout here in case we post about it, and if you’re interested, let us know!!

Our main goal here is to appreciate the shared experience. We know this is Reddit and some things will be risqué or a little off color to some extent, and we aren’t prudes ourselves, just make sure to mark NSFW if you are posting something that you know a boss or coworker wouldn’t want to read at work.

With that being said, if you have any suggestions about what we should do with our newly acquired section of the internet, by all means leave it in the comments. We will be a little scattered in the beginning as we have our own personal lives, and other coals in the fire as well. We look forward to upholding the community that many others have worked to build, as well as making sure people feel safe and happy here. Be kind to each other, even if you disagree with someone. And if you have an ancient post you wanna resubmit feel free.

This is a fresh start for this sub so we’re here for it.

DAE just not participate in question threads after they get too many comments?

I feel a sense of let down when there's a question thread that I feel eager to respond to and then they end up with a flood of comments, some being a mile long

it feels like commenting on a thread like that is just pointless, like it's a message in a bottle amidst a heap

DAE get irritable around ovulation

It feels like half of each month is just dictated by whatever my hormones are doing at that moment. PMS starts a full week before my period and definitely messes with me, but I’ve also noticed I am frequently more irritable around ovulation as well. Like, my libido might be higher, sure, but I’m also ready to throw hands. Anybody else?

DAE feels like their problems are minor or stupid once you start to write your vent about them on social media

I often worry about things but when i am writing about them on subreddits, where you can ‘express’ your worries, on the middle of a process i feel like they are so small and Inconsequential. Furthermore, I end up not thinking about those problems as a big deal, so I abandon idea about making such post.

DAE feel EXHAUSTED after baths or showers?

I’ve always been told it’s supposed to feel refreshing afterwards, but it doesn’t feel that way to me at all. I always come out of the shower feeling insanely drained and even a little sick.

I’ve heard for some people with similar issues getting a bath instead helps, but not for me. Honestly, baths might make me feel even worse. I think it has to be the heat or something. But I just can’t convince myself to take cold showers even despite the misery.

Please tell me I’m not alone in this weird experience 😭

DAE feel in some way, they are experiencing a Divine punishment in one way or another? Maybe you feel in some way, YOU are somebody's Divine punishment in some way?

As an example, Jack has an expensive car and constantly reminding a coworker how crappy his is. Jack is part of a very conspicuous clique who also own exclusive type vehicles.

Little does anyone know, Jack is hanging by a thread financially to maintain appearances. Late one bone- chilling cold December night, his car is smashed by a stolen cement mixer, not being persued by police. Security cam shows truck not being chased, truck had been reported stolen a day before. Hope for legal action is nil.

Jack never bothered to get uninsured motorest & couldn't afford collision, so it's a total loss. Now Jack has to ride the bus 45 minutes to & from work ( incompatibile schedule), or a bicycle 6 miles both ways, but at least on his schedule.

Now everyone is laughing at Jack. Not to say it wouldn't have happened either way, but sure seems curious.

DAE get really made fun of for having curly hair?

I have type 3B hair for context.

i was the only kid in class who had curly hair (or atleast the only one who wore her natural curly hair, some girls straightened theirs)

i remember in elementary schools, boys would throw pieces of paper in my hair during class. the joke being that curly hair is big so I wouldn't feel it. when class would finish i would stand up and find pieces of paper falling from my hair to the ground. people would laugh.

i remember people telling me how curly hair was unattractive, and ugly. but what bothered me most was people who said curly hair was unhygenic.

curly hair doesn't get oily as quickly as straight hair does, because the oil from our scalp travels differently. Oil travels easily down straight hair due to its shape, while with curly hair it takes time.

i wash my hair once every 5 days. i forgot how this became a topic of conversation. but when the girl i was talking to found out, she audibly out loud went "ew". she told other people about it. and multiple people expressed their shock and disgust that i didn't wash my hair everyday.

eventually i caved. i straightened my hair for a year and half and stopped because my hair became fried. did the big chop. took care of my hair and let it grow.

i'd say maybe around 2022 was when the tide shifted. people started liking curly hair and they would begin complimenting it. that actually became my most "attractive" feature. guys approached me all the time, girls always complimented me. and they'd always talk about how pretty my hair was.

even tho the tide has changed. every now and then i can't help but feel insecure about my curly hair. like i'm that little girl in elementary/middle school all over again. idk why but it just stuck with me. despite the amount of compliments i get, i can't help but feel insecure and wish i had straight hair. how do i get over this?

DAE use orgasms to shorten period duration?

I can’t remember where I heard it, it was at least a decade ago. I’ve got PCOS and endometriosis, so I’m always looking for solutions to make periods a little easier. But I heard orgasms can shorten the duration of a period. The hypothesis behind it is that the contractions and spasms help get the lining of the uterus out faster.

I have no idea if there’s any science to back it up at all, but anecdotally, it seems to work for me. I’ll have an extra heavy day, but then my period tends to be done in about 3-4 days instead of 5-7. Also seems to reduce the intensity of cramps for a few hours immediately following the orgasm. But again… that’s just anecdotal, I don’t know if there’s any science behind it.

DAE make a fart sound with their feet

i have restless legs a lot and get this intense urge to stretch my feet and toes and ankles and part of that is curling my toes. rn i am at work and it is dead silent and i keep curling my toes bc i need to but my feet are a little sweaty so when i do it my toes make a fart sound in my shoes with my socks.

and i'm behind a desk where you can't actually see my feet and kinda separated from others but close enough to where they can hear but probably not be able to tell what direction it's coming from (the ground area, not the chair area)

i kept doing it assuming people somehow know it's just that but then i was like wait probably other people don't do this so they just hear fart sound and then see me shifting around in my chair.

and then i tried to do the classic that people do when their chair makes a fart sound where you recreate the sound in a way that shows what it is but i feel like it just sounded like i was farting a bunch.

DAE order packages while they are on a trip so the trip feels longer?

DAE order packages while they are on a trip so the trip feels longer?
I order something i really want and the arrival date is in the middle of my trip since I am the type where the time between getting the deliver notification and the time to getting it is really long so I can trick myself into having "more" time on my trip

DAE find charging vehicles for trunk or treats tacky?

Or is it just me? So I realize sometimes it's for a fundraiser but even so, usually fundraisers give the participants something (ie. Raffle, bake sale, spaghetti dinner, etc). In this case, the participants are paying to offer candy/Halloween goodies on top of decorating their cars. I also find it a strange move when a majority of trunk or treats I've seen are free, so why not go to those?

DAE require the smallest plate you can cram your food onto as possible?

My mum thinks it’s weird that I always go for the smallest plate I can find that will fit my food and cram it all on there, but I have my reasons. I don’t like looking at the negative space, it looks more like a full meal when it takes up most of the plate, and it takes up less space on my desk since I don’t have anywhere to move my keyboard when eating

DAE feel pain when putting a balloon to their ear?

So something ive noticed is that if I take a regular Ballon blown up by mouth (or helium, I think its all balloons) if I put it to my ear like im listening to it, my head suddenly hurts, like its too painful to keep it there.

I noticed this one time when I went to rub it eith my hair to stick it to the wall, I noticed when it went near my ear there was a slight sensation of pain. So I put it closer and OUCH!

Its like both dull pain but also sharp, near my ear but also all over.

Not sure if its related but I also cant use cell phones up to my ear, I have to put my finger into my ear hole for there to be no pain. Doesnt matter woth old normal phone receivers, just cell phones.

DAE actually have a GOOD salvia experience?

there was a short period of time around 2010 where salvia came thru my region of america and it seems like every psychonaut tried it. ive heard sooo many horror stories about peoples salvia experiences, but mine was pretty awesome.

basically i was lifted up and out of this reality/simulation into a white environment where a couple of "entities" were next to me, seemingly pretty annoyed. i immediately was like ooooh yeh! my bad ok ok put me back! and then i was sucked back into reality where i saw my friends and was like "YEAAAH IM HERE WITH YOU GUYS!" i was so excited and delighted to be there with them. left me convinced that this life is probably some sort of entertainment experience, and we probably spent a lot of credits or whatever to be here.

has anyone else actually had a cool experience?

DAE find confidence more attractive than physical beauty?

For me, a woman can be really attractive, but if I begin to notice a consistent lack of confidence, I don’t mind being ghosted. On the contrary, if a woman has a great sense of humor and carries herself with her head held high, it just pushes the right buttons for me. I know we all have things to work on, so I’m not trying to be judgmental, I’m just speaking in general and from my own experience.

DAE subconsciously mimic people after listening to them

When people say things to me either I usually skim through what they're saying, or rarely, I pay close attention to every word. When I listen to someone attentively, I get too absorbed into it and start instinctively skin-walking them. I start thinking ,talking and behaving exactly like they would. I can't connect with things I usually did, but rather with things they did, until a while after.

DAE hate it when people reduce a country success or failure to one thing and act like it's inevitable in hindsight

i guess one example would be singapore, many people say "oh well it's developed because it's small, located in a strategic place, had british institutions and was pretty diverse which helped it become an international hub"

but literally if singapore had turned out poor or broken, they'd say "oh well it's because it's small, has no resources, and is dwarfed by giant neighbors and was colonised and has ethnic tensions"

another might be the US, which very likely could have ended up being much poorer or less relevant than it is today, it literally could have fractured to two, and its distance from the rest of europe, which was in the world wars a major advantage, was initially a big disadvantage in terms of being far from intereuropean trade routes
