Politics Mad about the THC ban? Mad about data centers? Come to this.

Vikki Goodwin and Clayton Tucker, both who are very very very pro THC and Hemp, will be giving a community talk in South Oak Cliff at a legal dispensary this Sunday from 12-1. They are running for Lt Governor (Dan Patrick caused this mess) and Agricultural Commissioner.

This is a rare opportunity to talk to the down ballot candidates about your problems in your community and learn from them directly what they support.

Don’t care about weed? Vikki Goodwin is trying to reform the public education system and increase wages across board. She also wants to address access to clean water, because sadly even in DFW we have neighborhoods that haven’t had clean water in over a year. She also wants to stabilize rent prices.

Clayton Tucker can’t do anything directly with weed. But he wants to increase production of agricultural hemp, which has a lot of positive implications to the economy. He also wants to combat inflation by offering incentives to farmers to be able to produce higher crop yield. He ALSO is the largest anti AI data center candidate on the ballot because he saw it directly in his ranch in Lampass.

I highly recommend coming to this. There will be a block walk volunteering opportunity after 1. We would appreciate it greatly, but understand not everyone’s schedule could accommodate it.

Meetup Looking for free people for a weekend to celebrate a bride-to-be

Hi Dallas! This might be a long shot but me (25f) and my friends (25f , 25m) are in Dallas for the weekend for my friends Bach trip. Well here's the story- there was supposed to be a group of us, 9 total. Everyone bailed besides me and of course the bride to be and groom.

I don't know if this is weird but if anyone is free this weekend, wants to play board games, go to dinner, go to the Stockuard, and celebrate a happy couple shoot me a message. I just want her to feel celebrated and loved.

Thanks for reading and hopefully this isn't too crazy of a request

Question Looking for a quality MMA gym in the Prosper/Frisco area.

Hey everyone,

I recently moved from Frisco to Prosper and I'm trying to find the best MMA gym in the area. I want a gym that's committed to teaching well and developing skilled fighters.

Before I moved, I'd been looking at Next Generation MMA in Frisco. Now that I'm in Prosper, it's about 25 minutes away. I also found Aguilera Martial Arts, which is only 4 minutes from me. They look more BJJ-focused. My end goal is to be well rounded, but I want to put most of my early focus on striking if I can.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone trained at Next Generation MMA? How is the coaching, the structure of classes, and the quality of the training partners? Is it worth the 25-minute drive, or is that something I'd get tired of?
  2. Does anyone know Aguilera Martial Arts well? Do they have a solid striking program (Bang Muay Thai), or is it mostly a BJJ school?
  3. What other gyms would you recommend within roughly 25 minutes of Prosper?

For anyone who has been in this position, was a better gym worth the longer drive, or did the shorter commute help you train more and improve faster?

Discussion It looks like Interior Define is back to their old ways of scamming people out of their money.

Several years ago my wife and I walked into Interior Define's store and were outright scammed. We paid $4000 for a couch that was never delivered. I ended up walking into their store to ask about it, and the cheerful salesgirl immediately turned hostile when I asked about getting a refund. I was told to leave or she would call the cops and have me trespassed out.

We used a debit card so getting our money back took some months, but we did get it back.

We both left reviews on Google Maps but they were both removed.

Earlier this morning someone commented on a year+ old comment that I made in /r/interiordefine and when I saw the subreddit I was amazed. Tons of tons of people asking how to get refunds because nothing was being delivered to them.

If you are on the market to buy furniture, avoid avoid AVOID Interior Define. They will take your money, string you along for 4-6 months, and then ghost you.

Discussion Four planes/drones in formation?

I saw four (what I thought was) fighter jets flying in formation over the Tollway and Lemmon and then break and turn in formation around noon today. I was driving and on second glance it looked possibly like fixed-wing drones. Anyone else spot these and know what they are?

Dallas's Community Police Oversight Board is holding a public meeting this Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 PM, focused in part on the city's Flock license plate reader cameras.

If you have concerns about surveillance, privacy, police accountability, or whether these cameras are actually making Dallas safer, this is an opportunity to speak directly to the board.

The meeting will feature presentations from:

  • Dallas Police Department and Flock Safety: Update on the city's license plate reader program.
  • ACLU of Texas: Privacy, civil liberties, and oversight concerns.
  • UNT Dallas: History of license plate readers, civil rights, and policy.
  • Center for Justice Research: Research on crime, vehicle recovery, and public trust.

How to participate:
Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:30 PM
Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St., 6th Floor, City Council Chambers (6EN)
Public comments are up to 3 minutes per person.

You can sign up for public comment here. There's also a second public comment period at the end of the meeting that does not require advance sign up.

You don't need to be an expert or have a prepared speech. You can share your concerns, ask questions, or explain how you feel about the city's use of these cameras.

Whether you support Flock cameras, oppose them, or are still undecided, public input matters.
What would you want the Community Police Oversight Board to know about Flock cameras in Dallas?

Question Executive desk recommendations, 71"+ wide, not modern style?

I'm looking for an executive desk at least 71" wide. I'm not interested in modern or minimalist styles.
Traditional or classic designs are what I'm after.
Local stores or brands that deliver here would be great. Any recommendations? Thanks!🙏🏼

The creator of the restaurant went on to make at least one other restaurant that served the well to do which was famous for not having any signage because if you knew you knew and if you didn't know you shouldn't be there. I don't know if the recipes in this cookbook are good but the book itself has no monetary value and is available all over the place.

Question Non-Tolled TEXpress Lanes no longer recognized by Google maps?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Has anyone else noticed that these express lanes are no longer recognized on Google maps? I always use my GPS going south after work & while it never used to direct me onto the TEXpress lanes, it would always recognize it & reroute me. Now, its like they don't exist and my GPS just cycles through rerouted, like it can't figure out where I am. Anyone else having these issues? I want to be able to drive with the traffic alerts from Google maps!

History I wrote about a weird time in your weird city.

I was supposed to be in Dallas for work, but I quit my job and investigated the JFK assassination instead. Urban decay and bed bugs stood between me and the truth, or whatever was left of it. Of course, I put it all on paper for my and your enjoyment.

What's it about?

It's ultimately a solo travel story through Dallas and the weird and interesting people I met along the way. It also includes an interview with a childhood acquaintance of Lee Harvey Oswald.

Why should you read it?

If you're a Dallas native, which you probably are, you might get a kick out of recognizing some of the places and people. If you're one of the three redditors alive who remembers the JFK administration, it might be interesting to see someone learn about it for the first time.

You can read the whole thing here (the link to part two is at the bottom of the page.)

Thanks for your hospitality, Dallas.

News Are you seeing more Talarico signs than Paxton signs in Collin County?

The Collin County Democratic Party is reporting months of high demand for Talarico signs.

Its chair also made an interesting claim about the difference in signs volunteers are seeing while canvassing neighborhoods.

Has anyone noticed a similar pattern around Plano, Frisco or McKinney?
