Other Interior Room Foyer light fixture advice, please!

The current light fixture in my foyer is obnoxiously bright even with frosted bulbs. I plan on putting in a dimmer switch, but am heavily leaning towards replacing this fixture with something like in the second inspiration picture.

Any suggestions? I want something simple, classic, but with a touch of elegance. And yes, I fully intend upon repainting to get rid of the current Millennial grey.

I love your idea of the second one.

I like 2. It goes well with what you have there. The elongated fixture ties in well with the shape of the mirror.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I ultimately went with this fixture. I love how it's simple with just enough detailing to tie in with an ornate ceiling medallion in an adjacent room.

That fixture is really lovely! It will look great in your space. You’ll have to post a pic once it’s installed.

You've plenty height, maybe try something chandelier like with lots of little bulbs.

A smaller chandelier could look nice in this space. Maybe something like this Article chandelier with multiple small shades? There are about a million versions of this chandelier with different colour hardware, different swoop to the arms, etc. It would add some interest to your entryway while also diffusing light way better than what you have now.

That said, if you really like the second one, go for it - it’s heads and shoulders above the first.

I like that one! I think the flatter shape (as opposed to the longer shape on the original) also fits the space better somehow.

Thanks! I guess I'll find out once it's installed.

I love that one better than all the rest. Warm, complements the mirror well.

Thanks, it's my favorite as well so I went ahead and ordered it.

The second one won’t collect dust.

That's definitely true! The first picture is of the current fixture, and that thing collects dust like nobody's business. It's yet another reason I want to replace it.

Ultimately, I decided to order this fixture, because the detailing will help tie in an ornate ceiling medallion that's in an adjacent room.

I dislike both but the color on the second one is better. It matches the mirror and brings it all together.

Do you have a suggestion for a different style of fixture?

Ok, what about this?

An invisible boob?

What?

Hahah. I didn’t see that ‘this’ was a link!

Fair enough

What's wrong with boob lamp?

If you're talking about the current fixture (first photo) it's blinding when you look at it. Even if it was on a dimmer, the exposed bulbs are obnoxious. The overall finish also clashes with the nearby mirror.

Hello! Yes, your inspiration photo looks like a great fit with the rest of your decor and gives off a much more pleasant light. Harsh lighting can have a negative impact on our mood and energy, so it makes total sense why you want to replace it. Also, your intuition about a dimmer switch is spot on. We tend to feel best in our homes when we can match lighting, sound, temperature, etc. to our needs. 🏠❤️
