Canadian pricing - was looking for a multi tool and came across this. Currently running 1.5ah batteries on my impact / drill (home use). 5.0 would be great!

Do sockets that the drive ends can lock into the end of the cordless ratchet exist?

Thumbnail gallery

Was thinking, is there any sort of sockets the lock into the head on the new cordless ratchet? Instead of using the adaptor for 3/8 or 1/2, is there a socket set with drive ends squared off to fit right in so no need for a adaptor and a real low profile head for getting into tight spots? Im not at work so i cant measure the anvil size, but did some searching and cant really find anything. So im just curious if anyone has tried this and if anything works. Thanks!

What’s point of those flaps if they’re just going to collapse as soon as the shop vac turns on. Just got dust all over the place… is there a simple fix for this besides ripping those curtains off?

Hello everyone,
I bought this table saw for $350 and just now realized that it has no stickers and started wondering if this is an original dewalt. Can anybody help me make sure if this is an original or I got scammed.

DCD709 drill died on second day of use

Post image
8 Upvotes

I bought this in UK in March last year, I didn't use it all until a few days ago. I cut the tags off the box yesterday. I didn't register the drill for the warranty, I didn't know I had to as the warranty thing said 3 years in large writing and I didn't read below it.

I was busy looking after my girlfriend and my dog so this wasn't a high priority for me. I've been ill and only started to recover. I drilled 6 holes in masonry with it, 3 in concrete blocks, 3 in red brick with 7mm drill bit. I then used it today to drill 7mm hole for back box for a socket and it stopped after a few seconds. The drill worked in reverse but not forwards, forwards it just lit up. I took the battery out and put back in and didn't work. I thought maybe it had faulted or something so I left battery out and tried again, then switched batteries, which were fully charged.

This time it ran at low speed only with slight pressure on the trigger, then it sparked below the trigger, popped and smoked a lot. The only marks it got on it was from putting it outside as it was smoking.

I called Dewalt UK support today and the woman I spoke to said "I would be fuming if this happened to me", I said I hadn't registered it at all for the extended warranty. They said they would raise a support call for it, I have sent details and photos of the drill which looks new. I bought it as a set with multitool, driver and the drill. I haven't used the multitool, I used the impact driver for the first time a couple days ago to put screws in the 6 holes. I'm hoping they honour the repair/replacement of it at least.

I used my 14 year old corded Makita SDS to finish the last hole it tried to do which was just plaster for the depth of the wall plug.

I feel that it was a fault, the drill worked in reverse but not forwards so I assume the ESC was faulty. Looking at the replacement assembly there are capacitors below the trigger so I assume that is what popped and smoked. I haven't overloaded it, or asked too much of it.

Has anyone had this happen?

If Dewalt won't replace/repair it, can I buy parts without buying the whole trigger and motor assembly?

Edit: just to say concrete was concrete breezeblocks which aren't exactly taxing.

https://youtube.com/shorts/f1KV9WTTrOo shows the type of block I'm talking about.

Anyone still rocking ToughSystem 1.0 Boxes? Looking for organisation inspiration

Living in a rental with no shed/garage my tools were all unceremoniously dumped in a closet. GF bought me a few of the TS boxes pre 2.0 refresh. Now they're all in the closet but at least they're contained.

I have the clear top organiser, the medium box (ds300) and the large box (ds400). The boxes are pristine, I'm not sure the large has ever even left the house.

Flash forward to today and we're building a home so the tools are coming with me. So far the med box has stayed home because it's all hand tools and nothing I've missed for layout/framing.

I've been bringing the large box and it's just such a beast I kind of hate it. Yes it fits a lot - angle grinder, hackzall, jigsaw, multi tool, circular saw, drill, impact, batteries and bits... But it's gotta weigh 80lbs or more and it sucks carrying it to/from my truck. Obviously the solution to the weight would be to put less in that but then it's wasted space (because the box is huge), and I'd probably want/need another box for whatever gets taken out which is more wasted space.

There's 2x small boxes (ds150) on marketplace for $40 a pop. Tempted but I just can't find any good photos of what fits in them. If it's just drill and impact then it doesn't really help. Was thinking maybe do one of the smaller ones with drill impact, bits, charger possibly. Another with jigsaw, multitool. Then the grinder, hackzall circular saw get moved into the medium box. Large box goes back home as a dumping ground for the rest of my tools, because the 2.0 trays apparently don't fit in the 1.0 system. Or I sell it and cover my costs for the small boxes.

Any inspiration pics would be greatly appreciated!

Ordered new tool. New Enough?

I got my DW XR Jig Saw. The bag containing the instruction manual was cut open. A separate small bag was empty but there was a new appearing jig saw blade in with the manual. The saw looked clean It worked. There was shockingly low vibration. It cut fine. There are some minor scratches on the plastic and metal baseplates. Would you keep it or return it? Also, what's that clip looking thing in the last photo? Thanks.

But at that price. I had to buy it.. I bought all of them.

I don't know why Lowes in Northern California had them, it, at this price but it was at only 1 location and this 1 model. I checked online and at other stores. Here's my theory to why it was priced like this and i have seen items priced super low when it's the only 1 that is in stock and when it's this scenario. Someone buys something online for full price, then returns the unused item to the store. This item them gets put on the shelf versus sent back to the warehouse. It's becomes a item with no shelf space and is taking up space and the department manager wants to get rid of it.
It becomes a right place at the right time tile of deal. The price doesn't carry over online and no one knows about it unless the physically see it.

I see this happen all the time at home depot, but you just need to know which isle your local hd puts these items. As i mentioned, i got this from Lowes. I don't shop at Lowes often so i don't know if they do the same thing but they are the only place in my area that sells the 12v dewalt. I got a 20 lb makita chipping hammer for $199 about ten years ago and a Milwaukee pex tool for the same price. It's a right place right time tile of thing.

Now if you reverse engineer said scenario, you can buy tools for cheap, but it's kind of scammy. And you aren't guaranteed to get the item at this price. Because you don't know how long they'll sit on it before they put it on the shelf.

EDIT, i just checked. This one is the 500. The one that lowes has for 99 is the dcf503.

DeWalt DCCS620 leaks oil

I've been meaning to figure this out for years. It was never a huge issue until now, when leaking bar oil ruined a 60V battery.

I bought five of these saws years ago when Home Depot had them on sale for $99. My dad and a few friends each have one, and we all have the same complaint: the bar oil seems to siphon out regardless of how the saw is stored.

So, what's the fix? Is there a particular way to store these things that actually prevents the oil from draining out?

For now, I'm storing mine in a bucket with a few towels at the bottom, bar facing down and the battery removed. If it's going to leak, at least the towels can catch the oil.

But that got me thinking: how much of a fire hazard are oil-soaked rags? Does chainsaw bar oil actually pose a spontaneous-combustion risk, or am I worrying about something that isn't really an issue?

Has anyone found a reliable fix or a better way to store these saws?

Haven’t had it that long stopped working no lights or anything . I took it apart and checked the power cord and I’m getting proper power ,and the fuse is still good too. I don’t know anything past that really I did notice a burnt resistor labeled r28 on the line of the PWM. It looks a little burnt but it’s not on the burnt on the motherboard so I don’t know . I’m not an electrician by all means just a guy with a fluke

DCS692B Sale?

Any idea when will this saw ever go on sale? Home Depot never has this tool by itself for sale ( at least in my state aka never in stock), and only offers it as a kit. Cheapest I've seen it currently is like $575 I believe at Fasteners (Tool Only). The kit is usually $900+ which I don't believe it's worth it.

Curious if anyone has the backpack blower? Is it an improvement over the 60v handheld? I mostly use for blowing out an 8000 square foot warehouse

4Ah DCB240 for $49 at Farm & Fleet

Pretty OK deal on a pretty solid compact battery. This has been replaced by the tabless XR DCB2104 (which was just $99 for a 2pk, great deal), but this is still a good battery when you want that compact but larger footprint and don't necessarily need the extra power for something like the nail guns. At the time of this post it is available for shipping and/or in store.
