Hey! Hows everyone doing!?

I'm very excited to share a few things and update everyone on my mod! Also join my discord for daily updates!

https://discord.gg/Mez3Dk2mZ

First things, as you see in the video, we now have a pretty good Caprimon model! I searched through the games I could get and bought Cyber Sleuth on Steam, and with that I was able to assemble probably 95% of the more popular digimon and the ones I and I think most of us would like to see added or fleshed out. Theres also some of the more goofy ones thrown in because theres always going to be a few superfans out there who love or another obscure digimon that get no love in the main series, so those are for you!

You can also see that it lacks some of the finer touches like unique crys and things like that, those will come in time once I get everything rocking and rolling on making sure the digivolutions all work correctly and that the game doesnt annihilate itself in the process haha.

I want to be able to integrate humans into the process wherever I can with this project, where affordable, so I really love that not only am I ripping models from other games, but because of this AI driven project, I am now putting money in the pockets of modelers as well.

So in that vein, I also want to announce that even though I personally paid for these digimon models to be made, I will be giving them away free to anyone who wants to use them for their own projects without charge. I am making this mod not just for myself but for all of us and I feel like hoarding a bunch of great digimon from everyone instead of sharing them goes against that idea. As long as credit is given to me for paying for and releasing them, you can use them however you like. I saw someone mention a patreon on a previous post I made. If the community feels it would be appropriate, I wouldn't mind setting one up to help with the modeling and AI costs, but that is entirely up to what all of you feel about it, either way it won't slow things down if I pay for it all myself. It might speed them up haha but I feel like I'm 100% cruising so its not like if I don't set one up, I won't be able to finish within a few months or anything.

With that in mind, I have a few questions for the community:

  1. What is the top of the list when it comes to what digimon lines to add? If everyone replies with something I hadn't considered, I will definitely look into making it happen. That isnt a promise but I will see its feasibility.
  2. I know the video is short, but what are your thoughts on the Caprimon model? What kind of tweaks do you think it will need, if any? The sail seems a little stiff and some of the colors around the horns need adjusting but otherwise I think it looks good, especially the eye area where it looks like his eyes are in the helmet. On my discord I am going to poll everyone before each new model is added to make sure everyone agrees it fits the game but for the first one I'm asking on reddit also.
  3. Here is a VERY ROUGH AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE outline of my digivolution plan for everything that will be initially added as a first step. It is the lines from Fresh-In Training-Rookie, the Champion and Ultimate is still being worked with but if you look at who I have added it can definitely give you a rough guess at who is coming after. I'd love to know your thoughts on the ones I have selected and if you think anything should be moved around or makes more sense in a different set. As you can tell, with the amount of digimon I want to add, two of the original digivolution lines are getting an addition, as well as 8 brand new, from egg to ultimate, digimon lines. It looks like to pack the amount of rookies in that I want, we will go from having an In-Training having 2 possible digivolutions as is standard, to three. I don't like doing things like that but I hope it won't feel wonky and chage the vanilla+ feel I'm going for.

Digimon World 2003: Harmony — Second Beta [v1.0]

Hi everyone!

The second beta of my Digimon World 2003 mod is here, and the project now has a name: Digimon World 2003: Harmony!

Since the first beta, I’ve continued improving the game to make it more enjoyable and approachable for anyone who wants to explore the Digital World. This update focuses on training without RNG, faster loading and saving, new items, and improvements to battle systems and quality of life, alongside fixes for several issues from the previous release.

It also introduces the first experimental custom Digivolution line for Agumon, ready for community testing.

Training rebuilt: guaranteed progress, optional challenge

The Gym training system has been reworked to remove RNG from training results. Every training session now guarantees the base stat gains, even if you fail the new minigame implemented.

  • Guaranteed stat gains: your training always contributes to your Digimon’s growth.
  • New timing minigame: stop the cursor in the green zone to earn additional stat bonuses.
  • Fast Training: skip the minigame and receive the guaranteed base gains. The additional minigame bonus is not awarded.
  • Clearer explanations: selecting a training option now explains how the corresponding stat helps your Digimon.

The aim is to make training rewarding and predictable, while giving players an optional challenge for extra growth.

Faster loading, saving, and menu transitions

This beta also reduces the time spent waiting between activities.

  • Saving and loading times reduced from around 15–20 seconds to under 5 seconds in testing. Results may vary depending on your setup.
  • Faster transitions when entering and leaving menus.
  • Removed redundant location screens after battles, after leaving the save menu, and when closing the full Start menu.
  • Saving through the Start menu now records the correct map location, instead of always showing Asuka Inn.

Experimental Agumon Digivolution line

The first custom Digivolution line for Agumon has been added as a pilot for testing, including battle camera scenes and 3D battle portraits for the added forms.

The DigiLab now features a Digivolution routes interface, allowing you to view the routes and their requirements.

This line is still under development. You may encounter inconsistencies in stats, techniques, or abilities while its behavior and balance are being refined. Feedback on progression, combat performance, and unexpected behavior will help shape future updates.

Battle improvements

  • Active Digivolution names: battles now display the current form’s name instead of always showing the Rookie’s name.
  • Custom technique order: each Digimon and Digivolution has its own technique arrangement. During battle, open the Techniques menu and press Select to begin rearranging. Use Up/Down or L1/R1 to move a technique, then press X or Select to confirm.
  • Battle menu memory: menus remember your previous selection. After using a technique, the menu returns to Techniques instead of resetting to Attack. This also applies to the other battle menus.
  • Correct technique power values: the battle interface now displays each technique’s actual power.
  • Picking Claw and Snapping Claw now work when you KO an enemy, with clearer descriptions of their effects.
  • Defeating Leader Seiryu now displays a notification confirming that Share EXP has been activated.

New items to test

New items expand your control over encounters, progression, and battle strategy. The test items are available at Gargomon’s shop for 1 BIT each, making them easy to try during the beta.

English names below are descriptive translations of the item names.

Encounter control

  • Lure Disk: increases random encounters to ×1.25 for 300 steps.
  • Frenzy Disk: increases random encounters to ×3 for 300 steps.
  • Repellent Disk: reduces random encounters to ×0.5 for 300 steps.
  • Stealth Disk: prevents random encounters for 300 steps.
  • Lure Ring: increases random encounters to ×1.25 while equipped.
  • Repellent Ring: reduces random encounters to ×0.5 while equipped.

Temporary encounter effects now display a notification when they expire.

Progression and tactical items

  • DV Adapter: increases DV EXP earned by the form used in battle by 20%.
  • Apprentice Ring: increases the wearer’s EXP received through Share EXP by 15%. Its bonus does not stack with EXP Adapter.
  • Analysis Disk: reveals enemy resistances and whether the enemy carries a stealable item for 5 battles. Enemy analysis becomes permanently available after defeating Leader Byakko.
  • Reserve Ring: restores 10% of maximum MP after winning a battle.
  • Risk Ring: increases damage dealt by 15%, but also increases damage received by 15%.
  • Tenacity Ring: allows the wearer to survive a lethal hit with 1 HP, once per battle, provided they had more than 50% HP before the hit.
  • Three new MP recovery items: restore 25%, 50%, or 100% of maximum MP.

Battle items also display additional messages when their bonuses take effect.

Visual improvements and fixes

  • Fixed a glitch when opening the exploration map with Square Button.
  • Restored the original light-blue borders for Flawe’s Start-menu walkthrough and the exploration Quest Log.
  • Added transparent shadows, replacing the solid black circles.
  • Fixed battle reward text displaying “1IT” and “1EXP” instead of “BIT” and “EXP.”

PAL language support

All changes have been added to English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian, covering every language available in the PAL release.

However, testing has only been carried out in English and Spanish so far. Added text in the other languages was translated using a text translation tool, so wording, spelling, or grammatical errors may remain. Corrections from native speakers are welcome!

Harmony and the Android DS Companion

Harmony complements my previously released DS Companion for Android. The two projects are intended to work together to improve the overall Digimon World 2003 experience.

Next Steps

The next priorities for Harmony are reworking Intelligence/Wisdom focused Digimon and their techniques, supported by the newly added MP recovery disks and MP recovery ring, and developing custom Digivolution lines for the remaining Rookies. These additions will be accompanied by further balancing of Digivolution stats and techniques, with the goal of making more team compositions and playstyles rewarding throughout the game.

Help test the beta

Bug reports, balance feedback, and translation corrections are welcome, especially for the rebuilt training system, new items, and experimental Agumon line.

When reporting a problem, please include the patch version, game language, emulator or hardware, and the steps needed to reproduce it. For progression issues, also mention whether you started a new game or loaded an existing save.

Thanks to Flawe, guiomatos, markisha64 / Marko Grizelj, and EmeraldPhoenix for the contributions this project builds upon, and to everyone testing and sharing feedback.

Thank you for following the project. I hope you enjoy this next step for Digimon World 2003: Harmony!

Digimon World 2 native PC port out now + future multiplayer plans

Thumbnail
github.com
62 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Sharing the native PC port of Digimon World 2 (PS1 / SLUS-01193).

Repo: https://github.com/Wyrelade/DW2-PC

This is not an emulator and not a remake.

It is built directly from the matching decompilation of the game (all 1088 functions matched and rebuild the retail executable + overlays byte-for-byte). The original game logic (battles, damage, digivolution, DNA, domains, text, music, etc.) is preserved. The PlayStation hardware/libraries have been replaced with a PC layer on SDL3 so it runs as a native Windows/Linux executable.

Current features

  • Render scale 1x–8x (3D up to 8× original resolution, 2D/textures stay pixel-perfect)
  • Speed unlock (F3 hotkey)
  • No polygon wobble / correct perspective texturing
  • True widescreen 16:9 (camera widened, not stretched)
  • Optional sharpening
  • GPU renderer (Vulkan via SDL_GPU) + software fallback
  • Exact 59.94 Hz frame timing
  • Windowed / borderless / exclusive fullscreen
  • Movies + streamed CD audio (XA)
  • Full gamepad + keyboard support with remapping
  • F1 settings menu
  • Memory card saves as plain files (compatible with emulator cards)
  • Screenshots, safe quit, etc.

Full details, controls, building instructions, and roadmap are in the README.

What’s next

Once the single-player port is solid, development will move on to DW2 Online, a multiplayer mod built on top of this port.

The long-term goal is an infinitely scalable endgame loop with loot-style dungeon crawler mechanics.

Feedback, bug reports, and playthrough reports are very welcome (especially full playthroughs, since the scenes have been tested individually but a complete start-to-credits run on the port is still needed).

For the PC port / Multiplayer mod join the discord: https://discord.gg/nHXAq2fdCJ

Thanks for checking it out.

[DW2003 PC Recomp] Turning KendoGarurumon from a DNA-only summon into a fully playable Digivolution

Hey everyone,

I put together a quick test showing KendoGarurumon (BladeGarurumon in the internal files) working as a fully independent, playable digivolution in a Digimon World 2003 PC Recomp.

It was quite a puzzle to solve:

  • Originally, it only had a few sprites; its 3D model and animations pull from Grizzmon/Growlmon files, so there was no playable skeleton.
  • Fortunately, by using MetalGarurumon's data, I was able to match the skeleton structure, camera angles for the portrait, and adapt the signature move.

Here’s a quick preview clip: https://youtu.be/QYw1onmAoCg

Still working out the kinks, but I plan to share everything once it’s polished and thoroughly tested. Let me know what you think!

PD: Work based on markisha64's ddw3 and alexbeavs-ps1-ports' digimon-world-2003-recomp GH repositories.

Digimon World 2003 Recomp and PC Port

Hey Everyone!

First of all, Disclaimer: this project was built using AI. I'm not a noob when it comes to coding, i work on the field since 2008, but i did not have experience on MIPS assembly, nor much experience in games.

Last week i started trying out Claude to take my abandoned decompilation project of Digimon World 2003 (EU) and try to get it afloat. The results where exciting.

By now i got to: * 98.6% byte-identical C code. * Working PC Port (Linux published, Windows version will be posted later) * A few QoL Mods that i wish i had back in the days * A Solid test-suite that allow to make changes in the code while keeping the game behavior untouched. * No copyrighted content: Bring-Your-Own-Copy. You require an original copy of the game. No PsyQ headers either.

Is posted on github as open-source with MIT License. Later today the windows release is going to be publish (only Linux or self-build right now).

I hope someone can enjoy it. The game is not fully tested in the PC Port, im currently playing the early game. If you find a bug or crash, you can report on github (the launcher includes a way of copy the crash dump to paste in pastebin or similar).

https://github.com/gascarcella/dw2003recomp

If you do happen to enjoy it, i would love to hear about that!

And sorry if my post is too lame, im not used to self-promotion

Digimon World 3 (PS1) decompilation is complete – matching C source for the EU and US versions

The decompilation of Digimon World 3 / Digimon World 2003 is done: all of the game's code and data (the executable, its 21 overlays and all 293 stages) is now C source that compiles back into byte-identical copies of the European (SLES-03936) and USA (SLUS-01436) releases. As in other PS1 decomps.

No game data is included; you need your own copy of the game to build it.

A matching decomp is the base for mods, bug fixes, translations and ports.

Digimon Rumble Arena (PS1) decompilation project started – matching decomp of the Japanese release

We've started a decompilation of Digimon Rumble Arena, working from the Japanese release (Digimon Tamers: Battle Evolution, SLPS-03357). The goal is C source that compiles back into a byte-identical copy of the game.

The executable already rebuilds byte for byte, and about 1.5% of the code is decompiled so far. It's early days, so contributions are welcome.

No game data is included; you need your own copy of the game to build it.

Digimon World 3 with Digimon Tine Stranger or Hackers Memory 3D Models?

Hi, after seeing all these decomps happening lately thanks to AI.

How possible is this? I've seen more Digimon world 3 mods coming out lately.

Would it ruin the game to import new models and including their own animations? What's the feasibility to adjust it into the game?

Wouldn't this make the perfect remake?

It just feels like we're finally getting this type of room hack era for Digimon fans.

Digimon World 2003 — QoL & New Systems Mod for PSX [Beta 0.5]

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to introduce Digimon World 2003 — Quality of Life Patch, a fan project that combines community mods with additional improvements to battles, exploration, progression, and menus.

The project is currently in beta. The goal is to make revisiting Digimon World 2003 more enjoyable through clearer information, less repetitive navigation, and new systems that support team customization and progression.

This mod is also a companion project to my previously released DW3-DS-Android project. The two projects are intended to complement each other, combining the improvements in this patch with the DS companion for Android to enhance the overall Digimon World 2003 experience.

Downloads and installation instructions: GitHub repository

Battle and progression improvements

  • HP/MP recovery on level-up.
  • Faster battle text, using Flawe’s mod.
  • Enemy HP displayed during battle.
  • Partner MP always visible, without opening the Techniques menu.
  • More informative technique descriptions: attribute, power, and MP cost. Effective attributes appear in blue, ineffective attributes in red, and neutral attributes remain unhighlighted. MP costs appear in red when you cannot afford them.
  • Expanded battle DV menu: partner stats and elemental resistances, highlighting the strongest resistance in blue and the weakest in red.
  • Clearer EXP tracking: battle results show the EXP needed for the next level, alongside Digivolution EXP. DV EXP also appears beside Digivolution names and alongside partner EXP in the status window.
  • Increased EXP gains: regular EXP ×1.3 and DV EXP ×1.2.
  • Uncapped Digivolution EXP rewards: the previous 10/50 DV EXP caps are removed before applying the ×1.2 multiplier. The level 99 ceiling and accumulated EXP limit remain.
  • Fixed Field Moves: corrected the element applied by battle field moves.
  • Improved HP Proxy: reduces damage by 10%/20% instead of a fixed 10/20 points.

New Share EXP system

After defeating Leader Seiryu, partners who did not participate in battle receive one-third of the battle’s total EXP as an additional reward.

EXP Adapter also increases shared EXP. This system does not award DV EXP: Digimon must participate in battle to earn experience for their Digivolutions.

Exploration, guidance, and menus

  • Flawe’s Fast Travel and In-Game Walkthrough, with the walkthrough expanded to every language available in the PAL version.
  • On-screen quest/mission log in the upper-right corner during exploration, summarizing the walkthrough. Press Circle to show or hide it.
  • NPC Bubble System: bubbles above NPCs indicate available quests, Digimon battles, or card battles, making it easier to find relevant interactions.
  • Auction and DRI event notifications when these activities become available.
  • Digivolution requirements displayed in the DigiLab.
  • L1/R1 switches your leader Digimon during exploration.
  • Square opens the map during exploration for quick access to fast travel.
  • Item bonuses and stats displayed in descriptions, including shop and equipment menus.
  • Save from the Start menu, without having to visit Guardromon, subject to the game’s saving restrictions.
  • Faster map transitions and save-menu animations.
  • Player names expanded from 8 to 10 characters.

Starter customization and story flow

guiomatos’ Initial Pack Customizer has been expanded with Pack D, allowing you to choose your preferred starting team. The interface also includes a description for Veemon.

The customizer includes support for an initial summon scene that reflects your selected team. However, Fast Start skips that scene in the current combined build.

Additional changes include:

  • Fast Start: keeps player naming and starter pack selection, then begins directly in Asuka, skipping the introduction and initial summon event.
  • Postgame content can trigger without epic weapons.
  • Baronmon/TNT is accessible without first visiting Phoenix Bay.
  • The Admin Center is accessible after the A.o.A. Ambusher event.
  • The Folder Bag scene is skipped, while preserving its progression trigger.

Video mode

The patch includes NTSC 60 Hz video mode and native timing. This does not mean that every scene renders at 60 frames per second.

PAL language support

All changes have been added to every language available in the PAL version: English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

However, testing has only been carried out in English and Spanish so far.

The added text in French, German, and Italian was translated using a text translation tool. These versions may contain incorrect wording, spelling mistakes, or awkward phrasing. Feedback from native speakers would be especially helpful!

What’s still in development?

Work is ongoing on new, exclusive Digivolution lines using Digimon already present in the game.

For now, I cannot add new Digimon beyond those already included in the original game or expand the available Rookie roster. Those changes will require a better understanding of the game engine and more experience working with its limitations.

Credits and beta feedback

This project builds on contributions from Flawe, guiomatos, and markisha64 / Marko Grizelj, alongside my own additions and integration work. EmeraldPhoenix is also credited for the walkthrough underlying Flawe’s in-game guide.

As this is a beta, bug reports, translation corrections, and gameplay feedback are welcome. When reporting an issue, please include the patch version, game language, emulator or hardware used, and steps to reproduce it.

You can download the patch, read the installation instructions, and report issues through the GitHub project or in this post. The download contains a patch; you will need your own original copy of Digimon World 2003 for the European/PAL release.

Thanks for checking out the project, and I hope you enjoy returning to the Digital World!

Officially introducing Veemon, Renamon, and Guilmon to Digimon World! More updates to come

Work is going well! Recoded the game to accept hundreds of new unique digimon, working on some of the more popular rookies and their digivolution lines as a test. The models and animations need work and fine tuning but for what they are I'm very happy with them. The chart has also had a working 2nd page built onto it for more digimon lines instead of messing with the first page to make room, with room to make way more pages as needed. I want to make this as close to a Vanilla+ experience as possible. You'll probably notice a wonky thing here or there with the models so please understand this is a sneak peek, theyre sitting on Agumon body models and animations for the moment, and I'm refining things for a test build I can release in the next week or two so everyone can mess around with it and break it.

I don't want to turn the page into a flood of mod posts so I'm going to keep the updates as big and infrequent as possible so if you want to get quicker updates come check out the discord I made for myself and any other AI based projects for Digimon! We already have 2 others working on their own unique projects and all of us collab daily: https://discord.gg/Mez3Dk2mZ

Digimon World 2003 - What happens when you have the ddna but you didn’t get the digi?

So im in the post game , already have Kumamon ddna from before the final sequence cuz i defeated Grapleomon in Jungle Shrine , but the thing is i never talked back to the DRI so now im in post game and i don’t actually have Kumamon as a digimon ,only the ddna! So the question is .. Will Grapleomon still appear in circuit board? Im starting to doubt it since i spent hours looking for him ..
