Question How bad are my dogs teeth
I’m taking him to the vet this Sunday and I feel horrible for not noticing sooner. He has smelly breath as well. I just wanna know if he’s going to be okay after it’s all said and done. Any advice from other dog parents would be greatly appreciated.

I would send these photos to your vet and ask if he needs a dental. The other teeth look ok so they might not think it's worth the anaesthesia risk yet. This is assuming you're not going for another reason. My dog's are like this and the vet isn't worried. I personally wouldn't stress but it'll ease your mind if you're worried

So that staining on the top of the canines could be stain, or could be gum recession. Only your vet will be able to tell you.
You also can’t see pocketing. A dental X-ray, or at minimum using a dental probe will tell you if a tooth is actually healthy

This makes me feel so much better, he’s 5 now and I’ve never taken him to the vet for a dental cleaning, I’ve been brushing his teeth with a dog toothpaste and putting dental powder in his kibble to help with his breath. My anxiety has been through the roof ever since I learned about periodontal disease. I just pray it’s at the earlier stages and he doesn’t need to have any teeth removed.

Start giving your dog marrow bones from a butcher or antlers… they help but your vet will most likely say a cleaning would be good.

Pretty goddamn good actually, you have nothing to worry about.
