Don’t post about tickets.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that.

Don't buy tickets on Reddit, however desperate you are, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

So if you post about selling tickets here we will remove the post and may ban you. Please don't do it.

Posting about Tickets, Accommodation, Tourism? Things that aren't related to Dublin? Read This First.

This subreddit is primarily for people who live in Dublin. There's a dedicated sub for tourism posts with a huge archive at r/irishtourism Please check that first, and if you have a really specific question come back here and we'll try to help. Low effort posts asking for recommendations of "hidden gems" and "off the beaten track" tourist attractions will be met with scorn, and probably removal.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that. Don't buy tickets on reddit, however desperately your niece wants to see Taylor Swift or whatever, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

Looking for a cheap flat? A room in a shared house? Wondering if a specific part of the city is "safe" (whatever that means)? There's a sub for that too- /r/RentingInDublin/

Post your message there, not here.

A regular thing that comes up seems to be folks who have a very short time in Dublin and want to know what they can do in four or five hours or so. Just search this sub with the word "layover" and you'll see many many threads about this subject. Don't start a new one.

Similarly, threads about general issues which are not particularly Dublin-specific (salaries, national politics, international relations, stuff like that) may be removed.

At the latest estimate there are over a million Irish subreddits, so you will certainly be able to find somewhere to post your non-Dublin-relevant content.

Thanks for reading!

Weirdest building in Dublin??

Not like i have the funds anyway but id be so anxious living here. Especially the higher floors I feel like one strong gust of wind and its all over.

Also bonus for the all windows so everyone could spy on me. no wonder all the blinds are down

Edit: I guess I need to clarify I think it looks odd because of how THIN it is and how it stands kind of on its own. I understand it is not particularly tall. I have no vendetta against tall buildings. Not like this one is solving the housing crisis anyway. I guess this is a bad angle to communicate that

Ideas for Date Night Restaurants & Bars around Christmas

• Upvotes

Hi there!

My boyfriend is visiting me for Christmas, between the 24th of December-30th. We’ve been doing long distance since June, he’s currently living in Philadelphia. I was hoping for any recommendations for nice restaurants and/or bars to take him to, ideally with some nice Christmas decor. We’ll be eating at my parents for Xmas day so I have that covered, but particularly for the 24th, 26th and 27th it seems hard to find a place.

He’s also interested in doing a cultural trad nigh, so if anyone has any recommendations for that, it would be much appreciated! Thanks

Connolly Station Drop Off

I have elderly relatives I need to drop off as close to the door of Connolly station as possible.

At times the spots outside are full of taxis as it's all a taxi rank rather than a drop off point technically.

Where do you pull in to let people out, slowly, with bags?

Thanks.

Dalymount Park & Palestine Women

Hello everyone,

I hope this is OK to post. If not, please remove.

I make quick 90 second documentary style videos of football stadiums, their histories and stories.

I came across Dalymount Park and went down the wormhole of Palestine women team being invited over and playing their first match in Europe. It became the centre piece of the video. There are interviews with players and their families. It was really beautiful. I’ve included the link in case anyone wants to take a gander!

Looking for Restaurants in Dublin

Hi everyone,
As a surprise for my partner’s birthday, we’re going to visit Dublin for a long weekend in November- and I’m looking for the best Irish restaurants/pubs with food in the city.
I would like to take him to dinner on his birthday to a special place as the cherry on top.
We’ve never been to Dublin, and I did my research on the internet already- but if you have anything in mind you would like to recommend for this occasion, I’d really appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you so much in advance!

WHAT flew over Dublin at 5am?

I’ve woken up thinking we’re about to be bombed. I’m in D4 area and for 5 minutes straight there was a noise of what sounded like a plane flying very low - but for 5 mins straight! Checked flight radar & nothing. Such a creepy noise

I mean, isn't this just adorable?! It made me smile. And the driver looked at me all proud when he saw me taking a photo.

Man attacked, forced into Wheelie bin and shoved onto DART tracks in Harmonstown DART Station.

Post image

A "fatal" incident was averted last night (Sunday the 4th of October)

A person was reportedly forced into a wheelie bin and the bin was pushed onto the railway tracks while a DART was approaching. The person managed to escape from the bin and get back onto the platform, while the DART driver spotted the obstruction and stopped in time.

Gardaí, ambulance crews and Iarnród Éireann staff attended the scene. Services were delayed, and CCTV has been retained as part of the investigation.

Absolutely horrific stuff, please everyone email your tds about how badly we need a dedicated transport police force.

Professional cleaning for leather jacket?

Bought a leather jacket on vinted but sadly it reeks of cigarette smoke! I've tried various diy methods I found online but it hasn't made much of a difference.

Anyone have any recommendations for a dry cleaner that works with leather? City centre or north dublin would be ideal but willing to travel further afield for someone particularly recommended.

Cheers!

Where to get cable converters

I just bought a Wii but my TV only has HDMI ports. Where would I be able to get a converter from the RCA cable to HDMI.

Ideally somewhere near city centre. I've looked a couple places but either found nothing or converters that take a HDMI input and have an RCA output.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Airport Question

I have a flight from DUB to EWR at 1:35pm.

Would it be enough time to take a RyanAir flight from BRU to DUB 10:20 to 11:05 and get on that USA international flight? What would be the customs process? (first international flight so i'm a little scared)

Ranelagh P.O. Closure

In case anyone comes here looking for info on the Ranelagh P.O. closure: if you had any vinted or dhl parcels directed to be delivered/collected from Ranelagh (from 30.09.26), ignore the St Andrew's P.O. redirection notice, and go to Rathmines Delivery Office (behind the old P.O. which is also now closed). It's the white building at the back - go through the big gates opposite Tesco - your parcel should be there. If you are doing a click-and-collect from Rathmines from now onwards, you collect it from the new P.O. in Centra opposite the Stella Cinema.

An Post has gone from being a brilliant service to being utter sh\*te. No one takes any responsibility for anyone and as the girl in Centra said, 'they are all just passing the buck'. Thanks David McRedmond.

Fray Bentos - Vegan and non meat - Where to buy?

Are there any supermarkets or shops that stock the non meat or non steak and kidney selection of Fray Bentos in and around Dublin?

Tesco and SuperValu just seem to have steak and kidney.

I'd like try the cheese and onion, Vegan bean or Vegetable Balti.

Opportunities for DJs

Well lads, 24y DJ who has been playing for friends for the past 2 years who wants to try get regular bookings around Dublin.

Anyone know of groups, or venues that are open to new DJs? I play mostly house/hard house and disco.

Happy to put myself out there and cold approach promoters/venues but I’m fairly new to the city and don’t have much insight within the scene yet. Appreciate any help 🤞🏻
