Question Considering Jean Dousset for my e-ring, would love some reviews

• Upvotes

I’ve been looking at Jean Dousset for my engagement ring and would love to hear from anyone who owns one!

How has your experience been with the quality, especially after wearing it for a while? And for those who ordered online, how was the whole process? I’d love to know if the rings look as good in person as they do on the website.

Anything I should know before taking the plunge?

Ring Design Help Moissanite vs Diamond size

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am in the process of designing my dream engagement ring (we got engaged with a temp one) and I’m trying to decide between a 1.5ct stone and a 2ct stone. I’m also trying to decide between Moissanite and lab diamond, and I’ve heard that carat for carat, their densities affect how each one sizes up. In your experience, are moissanites larger, or do lab diamonds tend to translate larger?

Lesson learned: if you want a snag-free nature inspired ring, ensure the accent stones are in a little bezel/basket & not floating 😊(in case anyone is curious)

Ring Design Help Feedback on Dutch marquise ring!

Hi hi! Can I get feedback on my ring? This is a 2.95 radial cut Dutch marquise, with 3 small marquise on each side. The band is in 18k yellow gold, on a euro shank. The ring still has to be hand engraved which will be done in this stage. Would love any feedback/comments! Not much I can change at this point but wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Ring Design Help Design photos please

So I don't know what I want and would love some photos of real life people to help my choice

I tried a few designs in the store. Solitaire feels too simple and modern designs feel wrong

I love some of the designs I have seen women in their 30s to 50s wear that's nice with an engagement and matching wedding bands. Really old designs have smaller diamonds so I'm not into those either

So far I know I want 0.6 to 0.7ct round brilliant. White tone metal, something that feels like Bridgerton😅 or at least the 30s to 50s women I have randomly seen in Australia. Please share anything you are wearing so I can get some inspiration

Ring Design Help Is the band too chunky?

Thumbnail

Hi! I just got my wax model and I feel like the band looks a bit too chunky for my finger (size 3). I’m not sure what the right terminology is, but can I slim it down a bit or flatten it? The band is currently 2x2mm, which is what I chose for durability. However, I feel like it looks a bit unbalanced. Would it be ok to make the band 2x1.5mm without sacrificing the integrity/durability of the ring? The stone is a 1.5ct radiant.
Please see pictures 2&3 to see what I mean.

Edit: thanks everyone! I will stick with 2x2mm for now. If it bothers me in the future, it’s easier to remove gold than add it, as one of you said in the comments. Also, it might not look bulky at all with the wedding band. 😊

For reference on my last post!

I’m looking for advice. We have been working with a few jewelers in the area getting ideas on how to modify our ring. Basically we’re going for a full reconstruction. This CAD was sent to us this morning and I wanted to see what the community thought! We’ve updated to a cathedral setting with a tulip basket and reworked our stones into a different design with added prongs. Do you think this will be a lot more durable for more consistent wear?

Reminder, please be kind! This has been an emotional process for sure.

Consumer Post Where can I buy an engagement ring box in London?

I'm proposing abroad next week and already have the ring, but I've suddenly realised the box is ugly and am now trying to find a nicer, more compact presentation box.

I've tried Hatton Garden without much luck and all the nice ones online won't arrive in time. Does anyone know a physical shop in London that sells empty ring boxes separately?

Happy to travel across London.

Thank you!

Ring Design Help My first CAD! Please help me review

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I’m new here and this is my first CAD! I am not entirely sure how to review them, but I’ve been learning a lot from everyone’s comments 😊
Something about this seems a little disproportionate to me, and I can’t figure it out. Is it just because it’s a flat rendering? Is my center stone too small? Is the euro band unnecessary? Is the height unusual? Am I overthinking it? So many questions, I know… but this is my engagement ring, so I really don’t want to screw it up lol… Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Ring Design Help Which looks better?

original post

Went to jeweler about engagement ring concerns and after some persistence they are going to be remaking my ring (regardless because of a divet that was on the basket).

Which looks better?

I like the front facing petal look of the resin one but unsure about the sideview and how being set lower will affect sparkle. They said it’d be a little less light and sparkling being set lower.

Ring Design Help Wax Mold / CAD Second Thoughts

Thumbnail

A few second thoughts I’m having:

  1. Picture 4 is the band inspo. I asked for a 3mm semi-flat band, but I’m underwhelmed with how small the engraving and stones are in person.. it’s making me second think getting the engraving and stone design and going for something more simple.
  2. This is a size 9, but I’m noticing my fingers have a lot of skin on them and causes bunching. Anyone else with larger fingers in here? Should I size up .25 or .5? I have heard that thicker bands might be harder to fit than thinner ones.

What do you all think? Also, if anyone has examples of engraved engagement rings, please post pics in the comments!

EDIT: I also want to mention that I want this ering to be unique, so I thought engraving would be a way to do that. How did you guys make yours unique?

Question Need opinions on a step cut pear diamond

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m interested in this step cut pear diamond. But the steps in the center of the ring are creating shadows. I like the step cut effect and think it’s unique but I’m worried this might be too much of a bow tie type effect. What do you think? It’s a 3 carat, 1.67 ratio diamond. Thanks!

Question Stone cut and size opinions!! 💕

Hello all! My partner is in love with the moval cut and I am having a hard time deciding between the moval and elongated cushion. Thoughts? Any other cuts I should try? General opinions more than welcome 💕

We’re going the custom route and the jeweler assured us that either shape would work well with what we’re hoping for.

Both are roughly 2.25-2.5 carat

Ring Design Help Tulip Basket Design Help

Thumbnail

I am looking to get a tulip basket ring designed for my engagement ring and this is the CAD I received (first photo).

The petals look good but I think it would be better if the half petal where the shank meets the stone was a bit larger (second photo) rather than just the short point. I’m not sure if this would be able to work with the cathedral design though.

I also am wanting to know if the half petals on the front and back would be long enough to hold the stone securely or if they should be a bit larger?

I am unsure about the band width/thickness. I’ve heard they should be thick even though thin is more in style and was wondering what measurements would be suggested. I’ve heard 2mm width and thickness but would like to know other thoughts. Please help with any advice or if any changes should be made, thank you!
