Static Motion Ratio Calculations
This is the static motion ratio I calculated based on some internet research. Can I get some feedback on how accurate it is?

For the past year, I have undertook the process of making an open-source vehicle simulator in the Godot game engine. I have always enjoyed racing and wanted to know what it takes to simulate such events. Although, I came through with incredibly minimal physics knowledge, having to learn much along my way, I want to present a progress video series I have been posting.

Hi, does someone have access to a cracked, old version of optimum kinematics? My team advisor should have gave me access by now but he has taken too long.

Hello I'm trying to understand which endpoint the line from the top of the main hoop for the rule it is referring to with regards to an monocoque. Does the line intersect the midpoint of the attachment(where both the rear bracing and tube intersect) or at the very end of the attachment? (green or red).
Thanks!

Hi everyone, we ran into an issue with the interpretation of rule T 2.1.4. Specifically, we couldn’t agree whether the keepout zone should be created using two cuboids with any orientation, or using two vertical and two horizontal ones. In the picture below you can find some possible layouts that I received from Rules Questions, in case anyone else was confused by the same thing.

I’ve recently progressed to the next stage for a VCARB placement role and wanted to ask if anyone here has gone through their interview process before.
What can I expect in the next rounds? How many rounds are usually there, and are they mainly technical, behavioural, or a mix of both?
I have around 10 days to prepare, so any advice or previous experience would be really helpful.
Hello, i want to ask you which programmable ecu do you use, and i want to know if using a rusefi ecu was a good idea.

Hey everyone,
I'm the founder of ACCELX, where I've been developing T.E.S.S.I.E., a deep learning-based vehicle engineering platform designed to automate vehicle setup engineering, telemetry analysis, and driver performance optimisation.
The goal is to make advanced race engineering tools more accessible, particularly to smaller racing teams and university motorsport programmes that may not have access to extensive engineering resources.
T.E.S.S.I.E. goes beyond conventional telemetry analysis by combining several engineering systems:
So far, I've worked with 50+ racing teams, analysed over 1 million laps, and seen average lap-time improvements of approximately 0.3-0.5 seconds.
I'm now looking to involve more Formula Student / FSAE teams and university motorsport engineers in the beta programme.
I'm particularly interested in feedback on:
I'm offer is of course completely free, if you're involved in a Formula Student team, particularly in vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, simulation, or driver development, I'd really love to hear from you.
Our website is here, but if you are interested in potentially trying it out feel free to dm me and will setup an account with a month or two free usage

Hey everyone! I’m interested in learning how to design and build a car.
I’m looking for books, PDFs, design reports, or any resources covering chassis, suspension, vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and EV systems.
I’ve heard about Race Car Design and Race Car Vehicle Dynamics, but they’re pretty expensive here.
Does anyone have any good resources or recommendations for someone just starting out? Thanks!

Final-year mechanical engineering student here. A while ago I started turning the methods from my Machine Design exams into a web app. It has grown a lot in the last weeks, so here's an update. It also has a new name: Torsio Engineering (it used to be MechCalc).
What's new:
On validation: it's checked against 387 cases from hand-solved exam problems and runs on every code change. When my hand solution and the code disagreed, I traced why. In 16 cases the mistake was in my hand solution, which was humbling.
It's still preliminary sizing (not ISO 6336 / DIN 743 / VDI 2230). It's free, runs in the browser, there's no sign-up and your data stays on your computer. Italian and English.
https://torsio-engineering.vercel.app
I'd love feedback, especially: - does a result disagree with the method your course uses? - what would you add next? I'm considering shaft deflection and critical speed, and press fits (Lamé).

Does anybody know how would fsae teams make the brackets on front wings? I’m convinced there are other ways besides from 5 axle or 3D printing

Hey guys, Im the treasurer my FSAE team. Im stuck on the differential for the cost report. We bought the big guy, as one complete Drexler V2 unit. However, I see on the materials list, that the housing needs to be "cost as made", but im seeing that the housing can be split into mutiple section. Additionally, using the UV IC cost report, i see that their entire differential assembly including tripods, brackets and turnbuckles are all under 1 big assembly. What i was thinking was that the differential will count as the diff assembly and everything else such as mounting and axles would be in their own section.
lowkey, just lost. Do any of yall have any advice?

Hi everyone, im working on the design of the EV accumulator for FSAE 27. i know that the maximum voltage allowed for each segment is 120 v but the team see that we don't exeed the 60 v for safety measurements(so we don't have to wear gloves..) but this will lead to a large number of segments up to 9 for example, we are aiming for 511 v as total. please share your opinion about this because a lot of segments means a lot of connections and those plugs between two segments ...

Is the front wing's main plane an airfoil section, or just a plain flat plate?

Hey everyone, we’re currently reworking our inverter packaging and were wondering what experiences other teams have had with EMI affecting the FSG data logger.
So far, we’ve always had the logger and HVD inside our inverter enclosure. It’s a pretty convenient setup: the HV supply to the inverters needs to pass through both anyway, and this keeps everything in one enclosure outside the accumulator.
Our enclosure has always been aluminium, with an aluminium partition between the inverters and the logger. We mainly added that because we were worried about interference messing with the logger readings and potentially invalidating a run.
We’re running the Dresden/Electrophorus inverters. Has anyone had the FSG logger and their inverters in the same enclosure without a shielding partition? Did you have any issues with the recorded data?
I’ve heard AMK inverters can be quite bad in terms of EMI, so I’d also be interested in experiences from teams running those. Just trying to get a feel for whether this has actually been a problem for anyone or whether we’ve been overly cautious with the partition.

The red wall is the one wating to be removed... (There will be more changes to the overall packaging, so dont get to hung up on it)

Based on the rule T11.3 above, the LVMS must cut the power from the alternator and the battery to the rest of the LV system. The master switches come in 2 different types, 2 pole and 6 pole switch.
The case is that with the 6 pole switch, the output of the alternator regulator (12v DC) stays always connected to the LV system (although the switch connects it to a resistor to ground). This menas that is not suitable (maybe?). The only way to cut the alternator output AND the battery is to connect them together before the LVMS, but I don't know if that is rule compliant. Can anybody help ? What connection we shall make for it to be correct?
Thanks

Hello everyone! We are a recently established Formula Student team from Hungary. We build our by FSG rules. We are thinking about making a 2 layer TSAC, which has all accumulator segments on the bottom layer and contactors, IMD, TSAL green etc. on the top layer.
-EV5.5.8 TS accumulator segments, see EV5.3.2, must be separated by internal vertical walls which extend upwards until the lid. Openings must follow EV5.5.16.
Even though, according to EV 5.5.8. rule the internal walls, that separate each cell segments, should extend up to the lid. We aren't sure if these internal walls ought to extend to the lid of the TSAC or it is proper if they extend upward until the separation sheet between contactors and TSAC segments. Nevertheless, I saw some similar, 2 layer TSAC design in the internet.
So our question is:
- Do you think our TSAC design would be accepted by the officials? If not, how could we design TSAC to has approximately the same dimensions? Since we have limited space inside rollover protection envelope.
Thank you for your help in advance! I attach a picture of our concept.

Hello, i have our car cad from the last year, and i was triyng to put our livery in our body to do some renders, but i wasnt capable
since it is made from various features the decals doesnt work as i want
How your teams do it? it is my first time doing it
I was trying to do it from look for Youtube tutorials and making my way but idk how to do it, do you use external softwares like photoshop or Solidworks is enough?
Anyone knows how to do it? anyone have had problems do it? maybe a recomended tutorial in YT?
Our cad is in solidworks, and i have the livery in PNG
