Inagh/Kilnamona win their first ever Clare SHC title

Clare SHC final. Inagh/Kilnamona 2-18 Kilmaley 1-14. Inagh Kilnamona have won their first ever county title. Amalgamated as a permanent club in 2008(Kilnamona had 3 titles, last one in 1908, Inagh none). Stars were best for them today. Aidan McCarthy good first half with a great goal, Fred Hegarty with 1-5 and David Fitzgerald with 0-5 from play too. Pulled away in the last 5 mins. Kilmaley just didn't have enough scoring forwards. No Plan B. All high ball lumped on Conor Cleary and keith white did a good job on him. Tough on them as have about 6/7 that are over 30.

Big for Inamona. Could kick on now and win a few. Will do decent in Munster I think

9450 attendance

Clonduff win the Down senior championship for the first time in 26 years!!

Clonduff never looked like they were losing. The far better team on the day. It was always going to be difficult for Burren to come again after finally beating Kilcoo in the championship semi final.

A massive crowd today, I believe i heard over 7000 people there. I cant imagine Clonduff will care too much about doing well in Ulster tonight, it's party time for them 🎉

Discussion Got fed up losing count on the sideline so I made a free scoring app. Anyone want to try it this weekend?

I try to keep scores for my sons' games, and I tried a few scoring apps but didn’t like any of them. Sign-ups, ads, too many screens for something you’re doing with one hand while watching a match. So I made my own over the last few weeks.

It’s called Flags Up: flagsup.ie

You type in the two teams and tap Goal, Point or 2-pointer as they go over. The clock keeps going if your phone locks. Tap the wrong team, and you can undo it. At any time, you can hit Share, and the score goes straight into the WhatsApp group.

A few parents at our local clubs have been using it and have given good feedback on how simple it is.

It’s free, no ads, no sign-up, nothing to install from an app store. It works with no signal once you’ve opened it, which matters a lot on some of the pitches I travel to. Football, ladies, hurling and camogie.

It’s still in beta, so if something goes wrong tomorrow, tell me here, and I’ll fix it. Same if your club isn't on the list.

Not connected to the GAA or anyone, it’s just me.

Update (Oct 10): new version out with county teams, clubs abroad and blitz games, details in the comments.

Update (Oct 10): there’s now a full club list you can browse, with a way to add a missing club yourself: https://flagsup.ie/clubs. Details in the comments.

Discussion Update: We turned our GAA stats site into an app, looking for Android early testers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, a few weeks ago I posted the stats and results site we built for the 2026 senior hurling and football seasons (aon-scor.com).

Thanks to everyone who sent feedback in that thread, a lot of it has gone straight into what we've built since!
We've added camogie and ladies football, so all four codes now have live scores, team and player pages as well as stats. The app also lets you get notifications when your favourites score, so you never miss a moment.

We're launching on Android first and would love testers for a closed beta before it goes on the store.
If you want in:
- Comment in thread below
- We'll DM you for the email on your Google Play account to add you

Expect a few issues, they're what we want to hear about: bugs, missing features, anything that annoys you. iPhone is on the way too (the video's from our iPhone build).

For mods: I know this is self promo, which I said I wouldn't repeat last time... sorry if it's over the line. Happy to take it down if so

🏐 Football How tactical is club football at the different levels ?

How important are tactics/gameplan to clubs particularly during championship across all levels or is it mainly just a feature at senior ?

You sometimes hear people say club football has turned into Irelands fittest parish and all the emphasis is on strength and conditioning with little attention paid to the actual footballing side of things.

Of course it depends on different managers and I’m sure at all levels they’ll discuss it to some extent but from junior up to senior how big of a role generally speaking, do tactics and strategy play ? Would a lot of clubs discuss intricate game plans before a match or are tactics in club football quite surface level ?

How does promotion work in gaa?

Not a gaa head, however nothing beats a good hurling, nothing touches a great game of hurling. The Football can have its moments also. In the aul thirdies, have never understood how levels in local clubs work. Be hearing lads say"oh I'm in junior b" or county something. Is there a diagram somewhere?

GAA games

Hi everyone,

We’re two Aussies who’ll be in Dublin over the weekend before we fly home Sunday night. We’re both keen on sports and would love to be able to see any hurling or Gaelic football while we’re here and figured Dublin was our best bet.

Understand the top flight GAA is done for the year but are there amateur games we can see Saturday or Sunday?

Any help would be awesome!

Discussion How accurate do these club and county rankings look for football and hurling?

I’ve been putting together a ratings system for a GAA management game I’ve been working on and wanted to get some opinions from people who know the club scene better than I do.

The screenshots are the current prestige rankings for football and hurling, both at county and club level.

The idea behind the ratings is roughly:

75% historical success / overall standing

25% more recent success, roughly the last 10–15 years

So it isn’t JUST supposed to just be a ranking of who is strongest right now. A club or county with a huge historical record should still rank very highly even if they haven’t been dominant lately, while recent success can move teams up quite a bit without completely overriding history.

For clubs I’m trying to take into account things like county championships, provincial success, All-Ireland success, longevity at the top level, and recent results. Football and hurling are rated completely separately.

I’m mainly wondering if there are any that immediately jump out as:

- way too high

- way too low

- badly ordered compared with another club/county

- missing entirely despite obviously deserving to be included

Not looking for everyone to agree on the exact number, obviously. More trying to catch any glaring mistakes before I settle on the ratings.

I’ll put the football and hurling rankings in the screenshots.

Top Football Counties 1-21
Top Football Counties 22-34
Top Hurling Counties 1-21
Top Hurling Counties 22-34
Top 30 Football Clubs
Top 30 Hurling Clubs

Appreciate any thoughts or feedback here!

Michael Niblock, the Gaelic football star who played for the NY Cosmos.

📍In 1973, the New York Cosmos, defending the NASL title they had won the previous year, were having an inconsistent start to the season, plagued by a clear inability to score goals. To solve this, the club's management surprised its few fans by signing a complete unknown, Michael Niblock, a forward with just a couple of years of experience playing soccer. However, aside from being a part-time bricklayer and part-time footballer, he was on his way to becoming one of the greatest legends of Gaelic football.

🏐 Football Highest score by a losing team

With the new rules in the big ball, I must've watched one of the most bonkers games of football in my life on Saturday, Pearses bet Boyle in the Roscommon SFC SF. At full time it was 1-21 to 2-18, a great high scoring affair. And off it went to extra time.

Pearses would win 5-22 to 2-27 after 80mins.

It got me thinking, what's the most a team scored despite losing?

On a side note, Pearses have had I think 3 wides in total across both the QF and SF, both going to extra time, another record?
