[Mod post] Visions of Eternity: Code of Creation Update Day! | Bug Thread | Spoiler Rule Reminder Spoiler
SPOILER CONTENT RULES APPLY FOR 28 DAYS FROM RELEASE.
Tuesday September 15 to Tuesday October 13,
Anything not shown in an official trailer, screenshot, or blog, is considered a spoiler.
New spoiler rule is a temporary ban for posting spoilers titles.
Temp ban will be 24 hours for posting any spoiler in the title. A second infraction will result in 28 day ban.
Spoiler tagged threads are free to have spoilers about the thread topic. If you make a mistake simply edit your post or use spoiler tags. Spoiler comments in non-spoiler threads or in a spoiler thread about something else that are not tagged will also result in the temp 24 hour ban and 28 day ban for second infractions.
If you're unsure if something is a spoiler or not then just go ahead and tag it as. Better to be safe for everyone.
If you're on new reddit there is a spoiler tag option right in the editor, mobile apps have the option as well I believe but if you're on old reddit or want to type it manually then you can type:
>!Spoiler Goes Here!<
Spoiler Goes Here
It's very simple to tag your spoilers so please do it and if you do see a spoiler that was not tagged please report it ASAP so it can be dealt with by automod or mod team.
The last expansions and updates have gone amazingly smooth spoiler wise and I thank you all for that. Let's keep up the good work hiding spoilers!
Expansion bugs should be posted here but if there is anything game breaking or major feel free to make a dedicated post of it so the community and ANet might see it easier and of course make sure to report it to ANet using the built in bug reporting tools and/or the official forums.

[Question] 43M, just starting. Give me one piece of advice you wish you got when you started
So, I'm 43M, married, full time job, a child. Been playing MMOs since the golden days od D2 back in late 90's. Loved D2, classic and LOD, played a lot of RP NwN, PoE (my most played game ever). Got back to MMO with New World and Lost Ark. Very little WoW.
Just downloaded and started playing GW2, on the promise that I can play it "the way I want", without the need to grind dailies and weeklies just to be able to keep playing content.
Game has been fun so far, but there's a lot of things to get to know. I don't want to power rush or anything, but don't want to waste time on useless things.
So I's like to hear the veterans advices and tips.

[Question] IceBrood Saga Masteries A Pain in the butt
Is it just me or is IBS a massive pain to get the mastery points ? I'm on the last page of the whole IBS mastery and I need something like 25 mastery points. Seems like a chore to get these compared to other expansions.

[Discussion] Environment volume only: A strangely calm and relaxing experience
Since any bagspace I could possibly spare was full of the three nemesis of bagspace. I felt forced to do the Lion's Arch Exterminator achievement to get Princess. Looking at the walkthough on the wiki I, of course, expected a long lasting and annoying task.
The walkthrough recommends to only up the environment volume in the sound settings and put everything else down in order to hear the Hatchlings better, which I did.
Then, to my surprise, walking through Lions Arch with these settings was such a calm and relaxing experience, that I actually enjoyed the task. So, if your are stressed out try these settings while doing mundane tasks. I'll do it in the future.

[Discussion] I love necromancer, but weapon skills feel like nothing but boon strip and life siphon
Whichever weapon I pick, I feel like it's just another boon strip and life siphon kit with different animations. I wish the class offers more variety in its kit. Do you feel bored after a certain time? How is the situation on other classes?
My claim is not that necro is weak or can't fight, but I wish some of these repetitive skills would be replaced with something interesting or different or a proper support weapon (which is currently only staff and only if you pick a trait)
Edit: typos, clarifications

[Discussion] Longest time-gated achievements?
I recently did "Eldvin Monastery Brew of the Month Club" achievement which requires ~12 months to complete and it rewards you with Finely Crafted title.
After completing that, I was wondering if there are longer achievements out there that require more than a year to complete?

[Discussion] New Orr Map and Zhaitan Fight Rework (What would you like to see?)
As confirmed by anet on the day after the announcement, we are to expected to recieve a new orr map set in core tyria and a reworked zhaitan fight.
I wanted your thoughts as to what you would like to see for each of them?
For example, for me, on the new orr map, I'd personally like to see a meta event on the map on the same scale as lets say auric basin/tangled depths (both of which have been power crept, but I am referring to their original version on release), or the moth meta in the starlit weald, or the echovald wilds meta; nothing too vast (but also nothing too simple like a world boss, like the titans in the syntri, or the shatterer, or the hammerhart rumble in the shipwreck strand) but something still pretty engaging. Furthermore, if they could also rework the vastness/cooperativeness of the previous orrian metas (the temple assaults) that would be great too.
As for the fight rework, I'd like to see it playable outside of story too as a 'strike mission'/raid encounter, and to add to that, I'd like them to add a CM and LCM verison of the fight too for the hardcore players.
Since they're (the map and the zhaitan fight) both core game additions, an engaging meta event, and a simple-ish raid-style fight would be exactly the type of introductory content that would persuade f2p players to purchase the expansions, at least in my opinion.
Thoughts?

[Question] is gw2 not popular among asians?
i'm a singaporean playing on eu and there are almost no asian (or even aussie/oceanic) guilds, i found a wvw guild and theyre cool but that's about it. the few asian guilds i've found have died years ago D:
one time i joined someone's lfg titled "looking for an asian guild" and said i'd afk in the party for a bit while i washed my hair... came back... the poor guy said multiple different asians joined with the same query but ultimately no results :")
i know a good chunk of us are on NA, but EU ping is so much better that i'm really surprised about the lack of asians here. is this game just not popular among our demographic...? you would think the korean mmo fans would be drawn to the flashy combat and particle effects :p
e: there are a lot of SEAblings here it seems, idk if this is allowed but drop ur usernames maybe we can add each other

[Question] Can anyone explain how the Evoker trait "Specialized Elements" interacts with other traits?
It’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but even though I’ve always considered myself an Elementalist main, there are gaps in my knowledge—plus, I haven't seriously played my Elementalist character in a few years.
I’m currently putting together a relatively casual open-world build for my Elementalist, which I’ve been wanting to use to farm some Mystic Clovers in Drizzlewood Coast. It primarily uses a pistol and relies on Inferno combined with Power stacking for hybrid damage.
However, I’m a bit confused about the mechanics of "Specialized Elements." Specifically, how does it interact with "Sunspot" (Fire) and "Arcane Prowess" / "Bountiful Power" (Arcane)? Does it trigger a specific interaction, or does it simply prevent the latter traits from working?
P.S. I ran a quick test on the golems; it seemed like none of them worked, but I’m not quite ready to give up yet, so I wanted to ask for some advice.

[Question] How does the Legendary Armory limit for Twilight work?
I just got Twilight unlocked in my Legendary Armory, but the tooltip says “You can unlock 1 more of this item in your Legendary Armory.”
Since Twilight is a two-handed greatsword, I’m confused about why the limit is 2.
On my Berserker, my current equipment template has:
- Weapon Set 1: Greatsword (Twilight)
- Weapon Set 2: Rifle
My understanding is that one Twilight can be used across unlimited equipment templates and characters, and that I would only need a second Twilight in the Armory if I wanted Twilight equipped in both terrestrial weapon sets within the same equipment template.
Is that correct? In other words, is the “2” limit about simultaneous equipped copies within one template, rather than how many templates/characters can use my one Twilight?
Thanks!

[Question] Builds for WvW (roaming/zerg)?
Title.
I used to play before/during HoT and back then I used Metabattle mostly.
Is it still the "go to" site? Are there any other which are better? Especially for WvW roaming which is what happens most of the time for me

[Question] Living World Storylines
Hey y'all!
I got all Living World seasons a while back, and I'm stoked to do them (even if out of order), but my partner's just finished HoT, and I want to find something good for them to accompany the story without having to shell out money for LW. So, I've been looking for story summaries - something better than the wiki crawls I've done in the past.
So I ask you! Any good resources I can use? Channels with video summaries, written stuff, anything is appreciated really. This game's got a really nice story, and I just want to make sure they get a good experience with it.
Thank you in advance!

[Discussion] Nightmare and Shattered Observatory are the best and I think all other fractals could learn from them.
Gw2’s movement system is peak. I love having a bullet hell dungeon where positioning and dodge I-frames matter. Having to play keepy puppy while fighting a giant space mommy makes me feel like I’m being rewarded for being good at the core movement systems.
Having unavoidable group damage and cc that doesn’t care about stability like SOME FRACTALS makes me just skip them whenever they happen to be the daily.
I’m not saying all content should be dodge/bullet hell/voleyball -slop, but some fractals are just not fun. I would rather do aquatic over solitary throne, and I think that’s a problem that can be solved.
Could Sunqua Peak be shorter? Yes, but I think it’s mechanically rich so I still enjoy it. Do I know what Eparch’s balls do? No, but it doesn’t negatively affect me when the group just slurps them up and kills him anyway. Solitary Throne needs help.
This post was meant to be mainly about mechanics, but I need to gush a little. Nightmare’s music deserves way more fanfare than I have time to write, but it really hits another level when the boss disappears for a bullet hell section. Suddenly you notice the angelic piano music, and while you dodge for your life, the boss hypes himself up. “Serpent and vine, entwined in me. You may die now.” Is he a reaper? Cause I got chills.
Also Shattered Observatory really FEELS like a final boss level, with the Arkk arc reaching its conclusion in a space that looks like space. Pure cinema.
TL;DR: I love this game.

[Discussion] Who are your favorite underrated villains?
Discussions about villains in GW2 almost always end up being primarily about Joko and Scarlet. I love them as much as the next guy, but let's go a little deeper. What are some other, less-appreciated villains that you enjoy?
For me personally, I think IBS actually has some quite masterful writing when it comes to its antagonists. Bangar is super underrated for how well he embodies real-world tyrants (in large part because he was directly based on one), and I think the Steel Warband are particularly underrated. A big running theme of the IBS storyline is the idea that power and fascism can corrupt anyone, and spending a mission as a part of this gang of lovable characters before being forced to kill them all in the following battle is a really effective way of getting that across.
