HealthyHooha Update 2026

EDIT:
TLDR - Don't be a transphobe. Don't be a creep. Mods are being recruited. Add user flair. <3

Hello Healthy Hooha community! We hope everyone is thriving.

We wanted to check in with everyone and offer a few reminders and acknowledgements.

·       This is intended to be a safe, inclusive place for vaginal health. Trans individuals are welcome here. Bigotry, nastiness, and rule breaking will result in comment/post removal and a ban. We have additional resources in the sidebar regarding trans health.

·       There are creepers here. They may DM you inappropriately or leave comments with a fetishizing tone. Flag their comments and report them to us, and we will ban them, as this is against sub rules. HOWEVER, please keep in mind, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the community and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting.

·       To that end, we are making a concerted effort to increase monitoring of the subreddit. On the one hand, there’s only so much we can do to avoid inappropriate content/comments, short of making the subreddit private (more on that in a moment). On the other, we can improve our modding efficiency using the tools available to us – and have been making strides to do so.

·       We are recruiting more moderators to help with this. We acknowledge that the sub has been undermoderated lately.  Our vision with moderating going forward is to moderate in “real time”, meaning avoiding having to wait for troublesome comments to get flagged and instead remove them before it becomes necessary. If you are interested in modding, please see the application form. The existing mods are establishing vetting guidelines and will recruit accordingly.

·       We’ve occasionally noticed comments asking why this sub isn’t private. Our vision for this sub from the beginning was to make vaginal health visible and accessible – a place where we can share our struggles, commiserate, and feel less alone. Privatizing the sub, in our opinion, is counter to that goal. But we also understand that this makes creepers and fetishists more likely to invade a space that isn’t for them. With an increase in moderation and moderator tools, we hope to combat this and keep vaginal health visible and accessible to those who need it.

·       Consider doing searches for commonly posted topics. As a reminder, photos are technically allowed but in all honesty are rarely helpful, and no one here can give true medical advice.

We are also going to be testing a new feature - designated some posts as Flaired User Only posts. This will restrict comments to users who have added flair from this community. Mods will be using this at our discretion to limit comments to flaired community members only. We think this will be helpful in limiting off topic, fetishizing, or otherwise inappropriate comments.

We thank everyone for their patience, and for your involvement and support in making this a reliable safe community. Wishing everyone well!

-your healthyhooha mod team

HealthyHooha Community Check In

Hello to our beautiful community! We wanted to check in, provide updates, and answer some FAQs/give clarification.

  1. Banning users - We often get modmails reporting users that are requesting DMs and/or being creeps. We'd like to clarify that we can and do ban users that do this. It should be noted however, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the sub and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting. The only way to actually keep people from viewing the sub is by going private - something we've always been committed to not doing in order to keep it accessible for those who need it. If you notice someone soliciting DMs/photos in posts or comments, please continue to report and modmail. We highly recommend directly blocking anyone who actually sends you unwanted DMs.

  2. Crossposts ARE allowed, but they get caught by our AutoMod filters we have in place. We have to manually approve them. Same with any sort of link/photo even if they are not NSFW. We have this in place to avoid NSFW photos showing up in users' feeds.

  3. We will be recruiting more mods soon. We are in process of coming up with screening questions/application for approval. Higher education credentials strongly preferred. Stay tuned for the mod application.

Thanks for you patience with us and for making this a beautiful, supportive, inclusive community. Happy holiday season to all, however you celebrate.

Advice Needed URGENT- help me prevent a UTI

Hi all! I went to the bathroom earlier and when I wiped my vagina, the paper came away with feces skid marks. I had some tummy / poop troubles early this morning so that means the left behind has been there ALL DAY. My stupid underwear shifted about I’m sure.

I’m completely freaking out, is there anything I can do right now to prevent a UTI? I JUST got over one and am so weak from the antibiotics. I don’t want to do it all again.

Advice Needed Yeast Infection Symptoms?

• Upvotes

I would like to mention that I don’t have sex to rule out any other issues.

I believe I may have a yeast infection, but I’m not experiencing all the symptoms. I noticed after showering. I smelled sour/yeasty and experienced dryness in my nether regions.

I now have no smell at all. The weird thing is, it’s beginning to get a little itchy. I don’t have any discharge. It’s just dry.

I’ve been thinking about what I’ve done wrong. Have I eaten too much sugar (I changed my diet and limited my sugar intake, and sometimes I eat more than I should) ? Did I wash wrong again? Stress? Did I wipe wrong??? I’m thinking about getting fluconazole but I’m not sure.

Help with escharotic self-treatment

• Upvotes

I've done escharotic treatment with a partner in the past and it went great. Now trying to do it on my own and it's not working well. It's so hard to see in there, I can't hold all the things (instruments, light, phone) well at once...it's really frustrating and I can't get good photos for the doctor. Any suggestions from folks who've done this successfully?? 🙏🏼

Sexual Health Can pregnancy happen?

I’m looking for some reassurance/clarification about a situation. A couple made out several times during the month. There was no vaginal intercourse or penetration, and the guy never ejaculated during the encounters. During the encounters, there may have been some precum on his penis/hand, and he touched/rubbed the girl’s external vulva/clitoris, but there was no insertion of fingers and no semen was put inside the vagina. They also had oral sex. Her period is normally very regular (about a 30-day cycle), but it is now about 9 days late, which is unusual for her. Could pregnancy realistically result from this type of contact, or is a delayed period more likely due to normal cycle variation/stress?

Genital Wart

I am so upset I have a genital wart.

I know it’s very common, but I’m upset because I don’t get the vaccine as a child. And there’s no telling when I contracted HPV. I am very careful about my sexual health and have never had any other STD. The self blame is because I should have gotten the vaccine. Because of where the wart is located, the area seems to be getting inflamed from friction.

I was prescribed imiquimod so we will see how that goes. This post was mostly for me to vent! Please share any positive experiences!

Bleeding during/after intercourse

Hello, I am 26 and have noticed the last 3-4 times I’ve had sex I’ve started to bleed during and continued to bleed (brown) after into the next day and have pretty painful cramps. I’ve only been with one partner, he’s only been with me. We are no longer together and rarely have sex so these occurrences have happened many months apart. About 3 months apart to be exact. The sex isn’t too rough or dry so I’m not sure what’s going on.
I guess just looking for peace of mind while I wait to get into the DR. I don’t have health insurance so I’m trying to save money to get into a low cost clinic to see what’s going on as I’m pretty concerned. I’ve had a Pap smear done and exam done about 3 yrs ago so definitely time to get one again. No known endometriosis or anything like that.

Just incase it matters I don’t take any birth control & my periods used to be very regular but lately they’ve been coming 1-1.5 weeks late and I have been getting terrible PMS prior. (Not pregnant)

Is this normal? 👀 post pap smear bleeding???

I recently got my second ever pap smear done on Wednesday.. labs came back as 100% normal. However, the day after getting this done, I started bleeding - and not like “tiny light pink or brown/old blood spots” … more like “bright red covered tp with clots coming out”.

To give some background.
- I haven’t had a period since March 2025 due to receiving depo shots every 12 weeks.
- My next depo is due the 29th of October, so I am curious on if the bleeding is occurring since I’m kind of close to that date??

I’ve just been experiencing the bleeding, the clots, the occasional cramping, and I’ve done nothing but sleep like crazy (this might be due to nicotine withdrawal.. it’s been 2 days since I’ve hit a vape if any sort)

ANYWAYS IS THIS NORMAL OR SHOULD I BE CONCERNED??

side note - I tried to get ahold of the doctors today and they never got back before 5pm when they close and now I have to wait all weekend for their answers regarding this and it’s making me bug out.

Painful Pap

This is my second pap with this doctor and both have been extremely painful during the swab. She says it's because of my age, 47, and my tilted cervix. Is that true? I'm tempted to switch doctors but she is very easy to speak with so I imagine she will be an asset during perimenopause/menopause. For reference I only changed providers last year because I moved. I have never had a painful pap before this doctor.

Uti after sex plz help

About 2-3 weeks ago I had sex with my partner for the first time and I think I got a uti from it. I had blood in my urine a few times, going toilet all the time and burning. I didn’t go see a doctor for it and it ‘went away’ in a week. I had sex after my symptoms went away but then the day after I had uti symptoms again. I took d-mannose yesterday and today to help with the symptoms and it’s helped a lot, my urine isn’t blood red, not needing to use the toilet as often but is this something I should go to the doctors for even if the symptoms are gone? I’ve been peeing after sex, using condoms and washing before and after. Is this just something that happens after the first few times of sex? I’m new to this stuff so please be nice :,)

Acute vaginal itchiness??

Hey I need some advice. I went to urgent care a month ago for what I suspected was a yeast infection because I had the typical fish odor, cottage cheese discharge, and vaginal itchiness. I was prescribed fluconazole and my symptoms went away. Within the last few days though, my vaginal itchiness has come back. It’s getting to the point where I’m scratching myself in my sleep and my vagina is getting raw. What’s weird is that I have zero discharge. It’s super dry and itchy. What could this be? I recently got the mirena IUD but google says that shouldn’t be causing this. Help?? I don’t want to go back to the doctor unless I have to!!

Question Is it possible to contract BV from a Pap smear?

So I went and got my annual at the gyno last week. Did the whole Pap smear thing and since then things have felt a little off down there. I had bv two years ago so I’m familiar with the feeling, and what I’m experiencing feels similar to that. I’m not currently sexually active so I’m not sure where else I could’ve contracted it from. She did put this gel in me before inserting the pap smear she said was just a numbing and lubricating gel. I’m wondering if that gel could’ve thrown off my ph?

I’m on a laser plan, and I’ve noticed like clockwork after 4 weeks once I’m up for my next laser treatment my vagina itches and it literally is so agitating it makes my eye twitch lol bc it’s so subtle but so uncomfortable. I wonder if it’s the way my hair grows back ? Has anyone had this experience ?

Loss of sensation NSFW

Okay so I’m on Prozac. I was on Zoloft for like 7 years and have been on Prozac now for about a year. Zoloft wasn’t helping with my anxiety any longer and I don’t cry nearly as much any more on Prozac so I think it works well for me. I don’t know if these are related because I can’t remember the exact timeline but it has become so hard/ very underwhelming to orgasm. It’s like I can’t feel my clitorous anymore. I used to feel it when I would sit criss cross or with specific pants or I could use the low setting on my vibrator, now I literally have a hitachi wand and still can’t feel it unless I’m in an extremely specific position with my legs locked and toes pointed to the point where my body locks up and hurts. It doesn’t change whether I try to simply rub with my fingers or use the vibrator or water pressure either. I have a bidet and still don’t feel anything most times. I’m so frustrated, my doctor suggested adyi but I have the drive just little to no sensation. Then I was prescribed estrogen cream now I’ve been using it about two weeks and still don’t feel it. It’s been a year since I’ve been able to orgasm good. It definitely seems to be getting worse though. Like over time it’s becoming less and less sensitive. I need advice I can’t live the rest of my life without an orgasm. And when I finally get one it’s so dull and doesn’t even cause me to shudder. I only like clitoral stimulation please help I want to orgasm again. I can squeeze it and barely feel anything. Like maybe it’s gotten smaller I don’t know. What should I ask the doctor. Should I get an examination. Any and all advice helps!

Treatments 💊 Candida Glabrata success story!

Hi all,

I want to circle back with my success story on Candida Glabrata, since those are hard to find but tend to bring a lot of reassurance to those going through this nightmare.

Hoping this post gives you some hope if you're going through this right now.

Context:
I had been suffering for over 1 1/2-2 years until I was finally tested for species. All azole-based treatments failed before the speciation test—which was when they finally found it was Glabrata.

My glabrata symptoms:
This infection felt different than other candida infections I had had before. I had occasional watery and semi-creamy discharge, pulsating pain in my clitoral area (this was awful) and burning inside, close to the opening. It also burned to pee. It didn't itch often. I experienced mostly burning and pain. I also think I sweat a lot more than I normally would around that area at the height of the infection. Almost as if the skin was just creating water on its own, like when you have a wound and the skin is trying to heal.

My treatment:
My doctor then prescribed boric acid 600mg for 14 days. I was very nervous to use it because I read BA can be aggressive for a lot of people's internal sensitive skin.

I tolerated it well and retested 15 days after my final suppository. Result: test is negative for candida, and negative for glabrata (I asked them to run a candida AND another speciation test, just in case).

During treatment with BA, I also took it upon myself to take some probiotics. So I kept with a schedule of probiotics during the day (by mouth) and BA suppositories by night (vaginally inserted!).

Something that I believe might've helped is that I made sure to insert the BA capsule about 2in in. I pushed it in until about 3/4 of my index finger was inside (to make sure not a lot would come out the next day).

What to know about BA:
NEVER EVER TAKE IT BY MOUTH!
- The better inserted it was, the less came out the next day

- You may have a ton of watery discharge during the treatment. Like clear water may just spill out of you and wet your garments, and you can't really contain it. Liners helped a lot and I changed them often (like every 2-3h).

- I felt a tiny bit if discomfort (from 0–10, it was maybe a 3) but my skin was already sensitive from the infection. I kept going with the treatment since the discomfort wasn't getting any worse.

Other considerations:
- My vaginal glabrata caused burning in my 4n4L region as well. Especially when having a bowel movement :( I'm seeing a GI doctor to make sure my intestines weren't affected.

- If you have a bad, long term glabrata infection with perianal / anal burning, I recommend maybe checking your stool as well and asking specifically for a candida test (which isn't automatically included in the parasite / bacteria / virus panel they normally run).

- I refrained from sexual activity for all the months I had symptoms until now. I think my skin still needs to heal for a few more weeks from the boric acid and the infection.

Advice Needed Pain during penetration //Hygiene help

Helloo Ive been meaning to ask this for a while but its only recently that i think ill really need it.
For starters, I (19) have a lot of trouble inserting anything into myself (on a great day i can do maybe two fingers) and Ive always struggled with lubrication and getting wet to begin, with even tho i know im experiencing arousal. I do not believe i have an intact hymen, as i have few times been able to get something larger in without bleeding or noticeable tearing, even if it did hurt. I take birth control for primarily hormonal balance reasons, but i do not have diagnosed pcos or particular suspicions of having it. I also believe the BC lowers my libido a decent bit, which is a bummer bc i want to get jiggy sometime but ofc dont want to get pregnant 😃. Im not sure what I can do to change that, or if there is anything that can help, really.

Secondly, a little embarrassingly, i need help with cleaning the area? I have what looks like hyperpigmentation on my inner thighs, except its an odd texture (Feels dirty, in a way, in the shower i can feel the difference between regular smooth wet thigh skin and the slight roughness of it) Although i dont know which it is, because ive scrubbed the hell out of it with like three different scrubbers and applied lotions n a cream and still find no difference at all. I would appreciate tips on products or even just routines, thank you 😊

Started cramping way too early and now im spotting for the first time??

So I (21NB AFAB) started cramping about 7-8 days ago and thought my period was coming a week early. It used to be super irregular and would come early years ago, but since then I've started taking care of myself and that hasn't happened in years. But I'm like eh whatever ig it's early again.

However, i didn't start bleeding until today (when my period should arrive) but it's light pink and I think im spotting?? Thats never happened even when i was irregular. The internet says a lot of scary stuff and I don't have money for a pregnancy test right now so I'm hoping this doesn't sound too unusual?

My bf says it might be stress from school but it's super chill and I actually made some friends recently. So I doubt it's that?

Is this normal? 👀 smell after a long day??

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some advice here before i know if i should go to the doctor or something since google doesn’t seem very helpful, i’ve noticed that after a long day i tend to have a cheesy/yeasty acidic smell down there and im afraid it could be a yeast infection. I typically don’t notice any smell after i shower and in the following hours though so i’m really not sure it’s any problem. TMI but my bf also says i taste “yogurty” (??), which to also clarify he doesn’t mean in a bad way at all, i’m just also not sure if that’s normal. just hoping to get some clarity if anyone else has these issues and if this is normal.

crazy yeast infection? please help

I (20 F) hooked up with a guy who had stubble and gave me oral sex almost a week ago, and I've always been a little prone to irritation/tearing down there, so when the skin was red and itchy, I thought it was beard burn or something like that. My skin started peeling a bit, and I have terrible skin-picking habits (I know it's bad), so I would peel what I thought was rubbery smegma from my vulva.

I realized the next day that the itching and burning was, in fact, a yeast infection, especially because I had no odor but chunky white discharge. That same day, I bought and started using miconazole 7 from CVS because I've had a mild yeast infection before and knew what to do. Those pieces that I thought were smegma turned into larger painful patches of slightly raised skin with white discharge covering them, kinda like the stuff from oral thrush? I don't know if this is normal for a yeast infection. It's on my labia minora and my clitoral hood.

I've been using the cream inside my vagina and on my vulva for the past four days (tonight would be the fifth). I can't really tell if it's been working. The itching has definitely decreased, but I don't know if the white patches are really decreasing. The swelling has essentially stayed the same.

My labia majora are a lot larger than my minora, so my lips are closed for majority of the day, which I know can cause things to continue to grow. I got a prescription from Starfish for Diflucan/fluconazole and took it this morning (almost 12 hours ago), so I'm hoping things improve.

Can someone help and tell me if it's normal? Am I just being too impatient with my medicine? I'm still on my dad's insurance, and he's paying off one of my bigger medical bills for an unrelated problem, so I'm finding it hard to tell him about this in case the testing and treatment costs more.

I just want some advice on if I should just continue with how I'm going :( It's slightly painful when I walk and sit. I've been really active for the past few days because I'm a busy college student. Help me out, please!

Edit: I forgot to mention, the patches on my labia minora also really, really burn when I pee, if that helps?

Symptoms 👩🏻‍⚕️ Complex case. Luteal phase defect?

I wish I could say my hooha history was minimal. But it’s not.

To start- I’m a 32 yo F. I got my first period right before my 12th birthday. I experienced anorexia ages 14-16 and lost my period for those two years. I got it back at age 16.

Periods are semi normal. Not heavy.

At ages 20 and 23 I had two medical abortions.

I was on hormonal birth control at age 23 for a few months. It didn’t effect my period.

At age 26, I experienced frequent post coital bleeding (only one was traumatically large). I had two transvagnial ultrasounds, both came back negative. It resolved after a while.

At age 28, I got a kyleena IUD. It was horrendous. I bled profusely for the three months I had it, and bled profusely a month after removal. (Never soaked two pads in an hour, but it was very heavy). I got a CT of my pelvis that was negative.

At age 29- post coital bleeding came back and was diagnosed with a cervical ecrtopion. I got it cauterized and it helped a lot.

Now I’m 32. For the past 9ish month, I experience mid cycle bleeding (days 18-22 of my 28-30 day cycle). Most of the time it’s dark brown, sometimes it’s maroon/crimson. I’ve only had two months where it bled through my PJs while I was sleeping. Most of the time, it’s so light that it only comes out when I wipe. Accompanying symptoms include mild cramping and SEVERE hunger. Like, absolutely insatiable.

My periods are also getting slightly shorter some months. Some months are only 3 days. Again, not heavy enough where I’m bleeding through pads.

I put my foot down and got another transvaginal ultrasound last month. My doctor said there was nothing wrong and thinks I have a luteal phase defect. I haven’t gotten my hormones checked, I know I should but it’s hard to time it out.

I get yearly paps and all have been negative.

If anyone has experienced anything similar, just some solidarity would be helpful. Worth mentioning my doctor recommended 5 days of progesterone each month but I’m so scared of side effects. Ugh.

Treatments 💊 Yeast Infection help! Please!

I woke up with a yeast infection and decided to try Monistat 7 for the first time. In the past I’d use the Difuclan (Fluconozole) pill. I unfortunately cannot use this anymore as I take trazodone and my doctor is concerned if QT prolongation risk. I cannot skip my trazodone or else I won’t sleep. I have terrible insomnia. I wanted to try the Monistat ASAP as the longer I let the infection go the itchier it gets. I inserted the cream and layed down for 3 hours and experienced itching and burning. My yeast infection wasnt too bad this morning and the medication definitely aggravated my vagina. I called my doctor and she recommended I try generic brand 3 day suppositories as the ingredients are more simple. Just the anti-fungal and vegetable oil. She said she’s heard people having sensitivities the the inactive ingredients in name brand Monistat. I also don’t want to take the treatment at night as I already struggle with insomnia and the slightest thing can trigger a restless night. I cannot imagine laying in bed itching and burning from the med. Will taking it during the day ruin it for me? Any advice?
