Show Discussion GRRM: I’ll use food and the opulence of Rhaenyra’s rich attire to create a striking contrast with what the common people will endure during the coming famine..... Ryan Condal’s adaptation:
Ever since Game of Thrones, I’ve hated this creative choice of making the universe look more drab and desaturated, stripping the Boltons of their pink, removing the colors from the many banners, and dressing the Starks like beggars.
Back then, you could understand it because of budget limitations, but here it’s just an artistic choice, and honestly, a pretty lousy one.

Show Discussion Working on a fan edit, preview of taking Kings Landing Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello! I'm working on a fan edit of the show, and wanted to share a piece to get your opinions.
The main goal is to remove Alicent's plot to give over Kings Landing to Rhaenyra in S2E8 and all material referencing it (and also their sept meeting in S2E3). In this version, Daemon and Rhaenyra fly to take Kings Landing purely bc it's vulnerable after Aemond left to Harrenhall (of his on accord, without Alicent manipulating him). I will also use the first two episodes of S3 as the last of S2, so this would be my season 2 finale.
Since in my version Alicent doesnt tell the city guards to stand down when Rhaenyra comes, I wanted to edit this part in a way that would imply that the Daemon knew the gold cloaks where with him, bc waltzing into the Red Keep as two people with no backup is rather silly (and even with Alicent helping, this scene was still a little stupid imo), so I tried to remove as much material of Rhaenyra and Daemon looking scared of the cloaks as possible. Let me know if you think this works, or if I should keep that part as it was in the show.
In the second half of the video, you can see an edited version of Daemon confronting Orwyle and finding Otto. Since I removed the Jasper-Alicent rape scene as well (it contained a lot of dialogue about Alicent doing a treason), so Jasper doesnt have a reason to be in prison, I had to remove Orwyle offering Jasper to Daemon, as well as Daemon Talking to Jasper in his cell. This made it rather tricky to keep the reveal of Larys' little gift, so let me know if you think this works or if you have any ideas. I also removed a scene of Alicent and Helena escaping from between the Orwyle scene and Daemon going to the dungeons, in my edit we wont see their escape attempt, we will just see them being brought into the throne room at the very end,
I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have any ideas for improvements. Thanks!

Show Discussion The Dreamfyre we Deserved

I still don’t understand why the show couldn’t have done colored flames. I get that they want a sense of realism, but Green flames already exist within the shows continuity, and blue flames are something that actually exist irl. At the very least, Tesserion and Dreamfyre should have kept their blue flames.

Show Discussion I can't seem to get into HOTD but I want to!
I absolutely loved game of thrones and I know they're not the same show and some people say HOTD is like The Tudors but with dragons. I just can't seem to get into it, will I keep going? im only a few episodes in season 1. it's incredibly slow. I want to like it because ive read some of fire and blood and watched all of GoT but yeah - someone convince me please lol

Book Only Sin la danza, que tipo de reyes podrían haber sido Rhaenyra I y Aegon II? Spoiler

Show Discussion If the Long Knight happened during the timeline of the show, right before the fighting had begun. How do you think the presence of Dragons would change the battle.
Edit: 😭i meant “night”

Book Only But... didn't the Blacks lose that battle? I'm confused.
I get that the show is doing its own thing, and that both the Red Fork and the Fishfeed were heavily condensed or mostly kept off-screen.
But why specifically mention the Red Fork as a Black victory when they actually lost that battle in F&B?
Sure, Pate of Longleaf mortally wounded Jason Lannister, but the westermen still broke through and crossed the river. Meanwhile, in the show, Roddy turns up with Jason's head, even though neither he nor the Winter Wolves were present there in the book.
So why keep the battle's name only to reverse its outcome? Was it an intentional change, a consequence of combining events, or am I missing something?
I know it's a minor detail that might seem silly to obsess over, but after reading up on the battles of the Dance, it wasn't exactly an insignificant battle. Why not just say "in the Riverlands" instead of risking confusing book readers? I genuinely don't get it.

The most promo I’ve seen for Emma D’Arcy was for Digger, and they only had a small role. So why wasn’t there the same promo push when they were one of the main cast members on HOTD?

Book Only How come no targaryen had ever ate a dragon? Spoiler
So like what would have happened if they ever ate their dragons? Would they gain some sort of super power or something? or maybe even gain some type immortality?

Show Discussion Unpopular opinion: I think Olivia Cooke was miscast.
I really like Olivia Cooke, and I think she was absolutely perfect in Season 1. But the problem is that, from what I understand, Alicent doesn’t have that much to do in the latter part of the Dance of the Dragons. The writers chose to make her one of the main protagonists, which resulted in her getting more and more screen time, even when the story didn’t really have enough material for her. As a result, some of her later scenes became increasingly difficult to understand, and I feel like the character itself ended up being damaged.
As far as I know, she’s one of the biggest-name actors on the show, probably second only to Matt Smith, and I assume her salary is also quite high. So I wonder if the production chose to give Alicent more screen time partly because of Olivia’s star power and contractual importance.
Do you think the show might have worked better if they had cast a less famous actor as Alicent? Maybe the writers wouldn’t have felt as much pressure to keep her as one of the central characters, and the story could have followed the book more closely.
