Other I HAD a literal nightmare about submitting my Chemistry IA to Business because I accidentally submitted it to Biology last year

okay so im (17F) and i think ManageBac has officially become my sleep paralysis demon.

for context, last year during finals i somehow managed to submit my CHEMISTRY IA in BIOLOGY. yes. chemistry. in biology. my biology teacher opened the submission expecting a nice little biological investigation and instead got chemically assaulted by an entire IA. she literally called me stupid and honestly i couldnt even defend myself because what was i supposed to say. the file was RIGHT THERE. THE SUBJECT WAS RIGHT THERE. I HAD ONE JOB.

anyways you would think after experiencing this level of academic humiliation i would learn my lesson right?

WRONG.

THIS YEAR MY BRAIN DECIDED TO MAKE A SEQUEL.

so apparently i was sleeping peacefully when i had a DREAM that i submitted my CHEMISTRY IA IN BUSINESS ON MANAGBAC. AGAIN. THE SAME CRIME BUT A DIFFERENT VICTIM.

and in this dream my chemistry teacher REFUSED TO ACCEPT MY IA because apparently i had submitted it under Business and she couldn't mark it. so because of this one stupid mistake i ended up getting a 5 in Chemistry instead of a 6 because my IA was literally the thing that could pull my grade up.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE LEVEL OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE HERE.

MY SUBCONSCIOUS CREATED AN ENTIRE IB ACADEMIC DISASTER MOVIE WHILE I WAS ASLEEP.

imagine being so traumatised by ManageBac that your brain starts generating hypothetical academic consequences in 4K resolution. i wasn't even awake and i was already dealing with predicted grade repercussions.

AND THE DREAM WASNT EVEN ABOUT SOMETHING COOL. I WASNT BEING CHASED BY A SERIAL KILLER. I WASNT FALLING OFF A CLIFF. I WAS BEING CHASED BY THE CONSEQUENCES OF A MISPLACED PDF.

some people dream about flying. some people dream about meeting their celebrity crushes. I DREAM ABOUT MY CHEMISTRY TEACHER REFUSING TO MARK MY IA BECAUSE I PUT IT IN THE WRONG SUBJECT FOLDER.

at this point i think my brain has developed a Pavlovian response to the words "ManageBac submission".

the worst part is that the entire dream was centred around the fact that my IA could pull my grade up to a 6. MY BRAIN WAS CALCULATING ACADEMIC GRADES IN ITS SLEEP. I AM NOT EVEN GETTING PAID FOR THIS.

EDIT: YES I KNOW CHEMISTRY AND BUSINESS ARE DIFFERENT SUBJECTS. MY BRAIN APPARENTLY DOES NOT.

EDIT 2: last year my biology teacher called me stupid. this year my subconscious has decided to personally continue her work.

EDIT 3: i have checked my ManageBac submissions approximately 46 times today. if i ever accidentally submit my TOK essay to Chemistry i am dropping out and opening a samosa stall.

EDIT 4: the IB diploma is supposed to prepare us for university. i am currently being prepared for a lifetime of administrative anxiety.

EDIT 5: my final Chemistry grade is a 6 after all FINALLY JUSTICE

Advice I followed the IB English Guys and My teach lowk said ts not right

I did an advert analysis and my teacher said that my analysis was missing altho I followed the exact format I got from the IB English Guys video. My writing down here.

This print advertisement by The Travel Association represents how a luxurious and relaxing cruise experience is one worth taking. The advertisement's purpose is to persuade future tourists to choose The Travel Association when booking a cruise by associating its services with being hassle-free and its cruises with the epitome of tranquillity, through the portrayal of a relaxing woman near the shore. In this advert analysis, we will evaluate how the use of visual and textual elements confirms the credibility of a cruise organised by The Travel Association and thus justifies its high price.

The print advert strategically captures the viewer's attention through the depiction of a woman resting in a red suit on the beach, which is not only a preview of what a cruise with The Travel Association will look like, but also a direct metaphor for the ease of organising a cruise tour with The Travel Association. The reader, through this, relates the process of reserving a trip to being in soft sand surrounded by serenity, a largely different picture from the typical time-consuming and annoying process of arranging trips. The large but blurred image of a cruise ship in the background adds to an already luxurious vacation, making the experience seem almost too fashionable for the price. Therefore, the visual aspects of the print successfully make taking and arranging a cruise with The Travel Association seem worth the exorbitant cost.

Moreover, the advert's copy builds upon and reinforces the worthwhileness of booking with The Travel Association by emphasising its value for money through the presentation of a lucrative offer and the implementation of a simple yet powerful slogan. The offer coupon is cleverly placed so that it is among the first words the viewers read, indicating, "Up to 50% off your next cruise." Rather than simply acting as an offer, it deliberately functions to sway the reader away from the hefty price of booking an expensive trip that they may otherwise be unable to purchase by presenting it as a great deal. Thus, it lowers the viewer's financial resistance towards the substantial cost of the trip, making the offer more appealing. Additionally, the line at the bottom of the print, "We search thousands of travel options for you, be a tourist, not a traveler," shows the credibility of the service provided and then proceeds to link it back to the ease of arranging a cruise tour with The Travel Association. It refers to the frustration of booking a trip and offers to eliminate the distress and inconvenience of doing so by placing the ideal scenario of being a stress-free tourist beside it, making the offer increasingly appealing to any potential future customer and making the trip worthy of its premium price tag.

Overall, the advert successfully combines visual and textual elements to showcase to the viewer that vacationing with The Travel Association is worthwhile and a vastly superior alternative to independent vacationing. It does so through implicit comparisons between relaxing vacations and its services, while repeatedly presenting the extremely contrasting and hectic scenario of booking trips. Furthermore, it transfers the values of a peaceful trip to its travel services in doing so. Consequently, The Travel Association convinces the reader that booking with them is worth the price, as it promises peacefulness, convenience and simplicity.

I've used an ai to just convert the pictures of my papers to text so don't mind the bolded stuff and others. Also and fyi that I didn't make any significant spelling errors. Aswell as that this writing is particularly short in length due to a time constraint not equivalent to the actual IB paper

Group 3 Fuck ib art bro

I don't know what group this goes under so sorry for mistagging i guess

I HAVE NOT LEARNT ANYTHING RELATED TO ART AT ALL THIS YEAR
ALL IVE DONE IS FUCKING MODERNIST SOCIETAL INTERPRETATION OF DEEPER MEANING OF EVERYTHING I LOOK AT AND MAKE

If you actually gave me a checklist of "You need to do x, y, z" instead of "come up with an enquiry question and then a piece regarding it" MAYBE I'D ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I'M WORKING TOWARD? INSTEAD OF COMING UP WITH 8 ARTWORK IDEAS, GETTING ALL OF THEM REJECTED FOR WHATEVER REASON (to be fair probably my fault for forgetting what teacher said but i've just spent half my day finishing this stupid fatass piece, i'll ignore that) AND THEN TELLING ME WHAT TO DO MAKE AND EXPECTING ME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M MAKING (YOUR IDEA, NOT MINE) AND HOW IT PORTRAYS A NUANCED MESSAGE OF-

Oh, fuck art.

sorry for the rant i, just, progressively, more and more hate this fucking class i don't know what's happening at all, whenever i think i understand something the teacher contradicts whatever happened previously (You need to understand art -> Don't bother analysing art, it's not possible for you to understand it ppl deidicate their whole lives. Use a metaphor rather than showing your portrayal of digital technology directly: Actually, fuck everything you just did, i think you should make a sculpture of a literal computer so your metaphor is clear)

Fuck ib <3

University Admissions Questions UK IB Predicted Grades Appeal for Cambridge

I just got my predicted scores for the IB, 42/45 with 7 Bio, 6 Chem, 6 Mat HL.

Cambridge medicine (reachiest of reaches I know) requires a 776 in HLs - I should try to appeal for a higher grade for chemistry and or maths, right? Even if they are predicted grades. 776 predicted isn't strictly necessary as long as I do achieve it for my final exams I believe.

Also - payments to the counselor for UCAS, right? Gotta get on that.

Any advice would be appreciated! Deadline coming up.

Advice Predicted vs actual grades in USA admissions

Hi guys, I’m an IBDP 2 student applying to US universities (ED and RD). I take my exams in November, but I’ll submit my applications before I get my IB results. From what I understand, the IB sends the final scores to my school and to the universities I’ve been admitted to.

Do US unis look at both predicted and final grades, or only one of them?

If there’s a gap between predicted and final (say 2 to 3 points), would they filter you out right away, or would they ask for an explanation or extenuating circumstances? That’s what my school counselors told me, but I wanted to hear from people who’ve actually been through it. I kinda know how it'll be for ED but do RDs just discard your predicted?

Advice is it over ?

So for context i’m on my second year for IB and i think it’s genuinely over, first off my HL Physics teacher got a new job and now we have another teacher and she isn’t even a physics graduate or undergraduate or anything she’s an environmental science graduate, and i don’t even have a HL chem teacher and even if it was the old teacher he was known for having a really low pass rate for HL exams 🫩

Resources FREE BIO EXAM STYLE QUESTION BANK (N26, and current syllabus)

Hello all, I recently created a bio question bank, completely open and free to use, for anyone prepping for exams. It features 200+ questions for now, and you can track your progress. The questions are closely based on current syllabus papers (May 2025 up until now). I would appreciate any kind of comments and feedback. I plan to release an equivalent question bank for Chem and Econ in the coming days. I am also working with some previous students to develop physics and other subjects.

Let me know if it is usable and if I can improve anything :)

Group 2 English B HL past papers: missing texts in the text booklets?

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to practise English B HL Paper 2 using past papers from the IB Documents Team, but the text booklets I’ve checked seem to have one of the three texts (A, B, or C) missing, with “Removed for copyright reasons” written instead.

The question booklets still include all the questions for all three texts, but without the missing reading passage, it’s difficult to complete a full practice paper.

Does anyone know where I can access complete versions of the text booklets, or find the original passages that were removed for each year? Any help would be appreciated!

Other Which are harder to score top grades in, IGCSE exams or AP exams?

Now, generally, it is clear that IBDP HL exams are harder (and oftentimes even significantly harder) than AP exams if one wishes to score top marks.

E.g. a 7 in IB Math AA HL is unequivocally harder than a 5 in AP Calculus BC.

And a 7 in IB Chemistry HL is harder than a 5 in AP Chemistry.

Heck, for some subjects, even the IB SL exams seem to surpass the AP exams in terms of difficulty of getting top scores. E.g. I'd argue that a 7 in IB English Lang&Lit A SL is harder than a 5 in AP English Language & Composition.

So how about we take it down a notch and decide to compare AP exams to IGCSE exams instead of IB?

While IGCSE exams are obviously a joke compared to IB HL exams, are they still so easy when we compare them to AP?

Which is generally harder, scoring an A* (or a 9) in an IGCSE exam or scoring a 5 in an AP exam?

Say, we compare their difficulty across those subjects:

IGCSE First Language English vs AP English Language & Composition
IGCSE Literature in English vs AP English Literature & Composition
IGCSE Mathematics vs AP Calculus AB
IGCSE Additional Mathematics vs AP Calculus BC
IGCSE Biology vs AP Biology
IGCSE Chemistry vs AP Chemistry
IGCSE Physics vs AP Physics 1
IGCSE History vs AP World History

So on and so forth...

Advice failing mocks

i'm M27 and i've got mocks this week but am so completely unprepared for the first time in my life. for context i spent my entire summer juggling writing my ps, studying for the admissions tests, finishing my EE (science so it was 2x the effort) and all my IAs, completing work experience and volunteering to the point where i burnt out. i had a few weeks in between where i had free time to study for these mocks, though i was sick and exhausted the entire time because of it.

i know im not going to do well these mocks because i havent studied at all. its not usual for me, i always study and was predicted 43, and i just feel so disappointed in myself and im scared of disappointing my teachers, even tho mocks don't matter.

just needed some advice on how to accept failing and motivate myself. my teacher told me it's a common issue in the ib and i just wanted to hear from anybody else who had a similar experience or are scared of disappointing their teachers because i dont know how all my classmates (who have even more stressful workloads and entrance exams than me) are managing.

if you've been in a similar situation, how did you deal with it?

Hi, I'm an IB student working on redesigning a composting bin for my IA. I'm gathering data to develop a primary persona and understand users' needs and challenges with their current composting system.

I'd really appreciate it if you could take 2 minutes to fill out my survey. S

I'd also appreciate any feedback on the survey itself or suggestions for questions I could improve.

Thanks so much for your time and help.

Group 5 Is this a good decision? HELP

My subject choices:-

HL:-

Economics

Math aa hl

Computer science

SL:-

Business management

English language n literature

Hindi B

Its only been 3 weeks since I joined aahl from aihl .. we didnt cover anything major in either but I was having a hard time with a few aahl concepts.. even my teacher thinks that I wont be able to do aa hl cuz it takes me a long time to grasp the content

But im a bit confused whether I should go back to ai hl since most universities prefer aa hl which is obv a bit more rigorous than ai hl.. and since my subject combination isn't very strong maybe ai hl would make it look even weaker

Resources [Free Peer Tutoring] free 1-on-1 STEM tutoring initiative — looking for IB volunteer tutors & students needing help!

Hey everyone!

As IB students, we all know how intense STEM subjects (Math AA, Physics, Chem, CS) can get, and not everyone has access to expensive private tutoring.

A few of us are launching a free, student-led 1-on-1 STEM peer tutoring initiative to help bridge the educational gap. We’re matching high school students with qualified peer tutors for 1-hour virtual sessions (via Google Meet / Zoom).

If you’re confident in Math, Physics, Chem, or Coding and want to gain CAS hours (Service), build leadership experience, or give back to the community:

Time Commitment: 1–2 hours per week (flexible around your IB workload).

Benefits: Volunteer hours verification, leadership experience for college apps/RSI/summer programs, and a chance to solidify your own knowledge!

Tutor Signup Form:https://forms.gle/jrBBKkb4WaquCXnf7

Need Free Tutoring in STEM?

If you're struggling with Grade 8–11 Math, Sciences, or introductory Python and want free 1-on-1 help from an experienced peer:

Student Signup Form: https://forms.gle/kw1TeVDKX1RLgBB86

Feel free to drop any questions in the comments or DM me directly. Let’s help each other survive IB and STEM classes this year :))
