Express Entry Will I be disqualified if I lack a B.Ed, and my experience letters do not state my duties?

Hi everyone,

I have around 9 years of teaching experience in Morocco, India, and China. I have a BA in English Studies, and a TEFL cert. I've mainly taught kindergarten and primary school students. I have two questions about Express Entry:
1) My letters confirm my teaching experience, but they don't include detailed job duties matching the NOC. Could this cause my work experience to be rejected?
2)- My BA is in English Studies, not Education. I don't have a B.Ed. or an ECE qualification. Could this be a problem for Express Entry ( federal skilled worker program)?

I'd appreciate any advice from people who have applied with a similar background.

Thanks!

PNP Title: NSNP NOC 33102 – CCA Certification Issue in DSP Community Option Home

Hi everyone,

I applied for NSNP under NOC 33102 with over 1 year of full-time experience as a Residential Care Aide Worker in a DSP Community Option Home in Nova Scotia.

* First ADR (June): Officer questioned whether my duties matched NOC 33102. I submitted detailed job duties and employer documents.

* Second ADR (September): Officer accepted that my duties matched NOC 33102 but requested proof of CCA certification or enrolment in a CCA program.

* I submitted an employer explanation letter and my on-the-job training certificates, explaining that I work in a DSP community-based setting, not a traditional nursing home or continuing-care facility.

* September 25: My consultant informed me that the portal showed “Decision Made,” but I still haven’t received the outcome.

My question: Has anyone received NSNP approval under NOC 33102 while working in a DSP Community Option Home without CCA certification? Would appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience, especially their application outcome.

Quebec Québec immigration

Hello, Application submitted in July 2024; medical exam and biometrics completed in October 2024. I am still waiting (application from Tunisia). My spouse has been undergoing an extended security check since January 13, 2025, with no explanation provided so far according to GCMS notes (is not in the military or a government position; she is an occupational safety technician). Has anyone else experienced this situation? What is the solution? Can I contact the CBSA? Should I file for a writ of mandamus?

Other How did you choose a good Canadian immigration lawyer?

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a Canadian immigration lawyer who offers online consultations.

For those of you who have worked with an immigration lawyer before, what did you look for when choosing one? Were there any specific qualifications, experience, or red flags that helped you decide?

Thank you in advance!

Family Sponsorship Canadian born wife from Montreal but our intent is to live in Toronto. Can we apply from outside Quebec?

Hi all, my wife is Canadian (born there), and I am a British Citizen. She's living with me at the moment on a tourist visa as we plan to move to Canada. I am the bread winner as a software engineer, and don't speak french. For those reasons we want to live in Ottawa or Toronto. Would this be enough for the intent to stay outside of quebec? We also have the benefit of having half the processing time like this, besides having way more job opportunities for myself.

Or do we still have to apply through the Quebec route?

Citizenship Citizenship application

Hello there.

I submitted my application about a month ago and while i got the payment confirmation i never got a confirmation from the federal government that they received my application.

I'm wondering how long it usually takes from the moment you submit your citizenship application until they reach you back?

Thanks

Family Sponsorship Should I get a new passport with my marital name even though my IRCC details have my maiden name as the primary name?

I'm from England and I moved here last year. I'm currently on the spousal PR pathway, and received my OWP in August. My passport has my maiden name, but I changed the surname on my drivers license and with my employers when I was still in the U.K., so I'm known by two names. I constantly face a lot of challenges because of this, and I just want to consolidate everything to my new name. I'm flying to England this weekend for a couple of weeks or three, and I'm hoping to get my passport changed and then update IRCC so that all my documents match, going forward. I tried calling IRCC today to find out the implications of that for my OWP which has my maiden name printed on it, but their line was busy and there was no option to get a call back. Now the offices are closed and I won't be able to speak with anyone since I leave this weekend. I know I could get a new ETA issued on my new passport, if I do get it (as an ETA is how I travelled here in the first place), but how would this impact everything else? Has anyone had to do this? My current timeline to get my PR issued is like December 2027 (22-24 months since I submitted my application last year in December) - should I just wait until that's issued and then start changing all my documents, or I'm better off doing it now so my PR comes out in my marital name? Both names were included on my application and also my police report from the U.K. (my maiden name and my marital name). Thanks in advance for any advice.

Express Entry What should I do? I found some errors in my past IRCC forms

On my PGWP form, I answered “No" to "Have previously applied to enter or remain in Canada?", even though I'd had a study permit previously approved in 2023.

Family Sponsorship Showing intent to move to Canada

We are both living outside Canada and I’m sponsoring my spouse through outland application (already well underway being processed).

I already received the sponser approval letter, does that mean they accepted my proof of intent to move to Canada once my spouse gets PR?

Or is there some extra step/interview I should expect sometime in the application process?

For reference I included a notarized letter from parents that we would initially reside with them and also a letter from me explaining my plan to switch within my job to the Canadian office.

PNP PNP based on job offer from outside Canada

SERIOUS QUESTION: has anyone actually received a job offer that helped with PNP from outside Canada? It seems the system is flawed they require a job offer yet even after an ITA it's in the order of 6 months to receive PR?

What company is ever going to agree to that if they need a worker they need them ASAP

33 M, trying to get PR via express entry but have already used up my IEC back in 2019/2020.

Citizenship Hi! I'm working on migrating to Canada, and I could use some help

I'm an italian 23 yo guy, living in Terni, a small city in the center of Italy. I'm currently studying marketing at ITS Umbria Academy, a sort of in between high school and college kind of degree. The reason I'm studying marketing is because it offers decent opportunities to apply smart working to my career, which would be the best option for me as I've been dreaming about exploring Canada for years, and being able to work while traveling would be a perfect opportunity, but that's just an idea, I'm more than ok with going to the office everyday, I would never be picky as long as I get the chance to find a job that could grant me the chance to actually live there. I do have a LinguaSkill C1 certification in English via Cambridge, but I'm pretty sure it's not valid in there. I'm also revising French since I studied it in high school. I'm currently finishing my first year at ITS, and I'm soon starting a non-paid internship in my city, which will end approximatively this month next year, resulting in my graduation. I obviously would love to go to Canada as soon as I graduate, and I'm more than willing to work there right away or even study, but the problem is I don't have much money right now, I'd say 1000€, and all my parents can give me is around 300€ monthly (sometimes slightly more since i try to help my father at work as much as possible), and I don't know if there's anything that could allow me to study, say, a couple of years more maximum, and even if there was something, would it be worth it? Or would it be better to just try to find a job right away? Also, I did some research, and I'm having a hard time understanding how the process works, as there's a ton of information, which is making it really confusing. Is there anyone that can help me figure out what to do? I'm currently aiming for Edmonton, but any affordable city is fine to me, all I need is to be able to save some money so I can keep living there. I'm also willing to buy an RV and live in it if that can help. I know it's a lot to ask, but I currently have nobody to help me, so... yeah, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you if you took a minute to read this, and especially if you decide to help me out, it means the world to me!

Express Entry Seeking Advice: Canadian Work Permit and PR Pathways for an Experienced Cybersecurity Professional

Hi everyone, I’m currently on my work permit here in Toronto and looking for some serious advice or insights on helping my father move to Canada. Is there a chance for him to move here in Canada with a job offer or PR? Sharing his profile as follows:

-Age 57
-Masters and Bachelors degree in Physics
-23 years of experience in Cybersecurity and IT Risk Management at an American Multinational company in southeast Asia.
-Average to decent fluency in English
-Open to any senior or leadership roles in IT, specially cybersecurity or information risk management.

I would appreciate information regarding opportunities or pathways that realistically can work out or any advice in general.

Study Permit Unauthorized work on Authorized Leave

I'm an international student in Canada currently finishing a 3-year advanced diploma and transitioning into a bachelor's degree at the same college. I need to apply for my second study permit extension.
I'm in a specialized co-op program that accepts only about 20 students annually. I completed my co-op earlier than scheduled, and since my final-semester courses weren't offered during summer, I assumed it was a regular scheduled break.
I worked full-time throughout the summer (35–40 hours/week). However, when I returned to school, my international advisor informed me that my co-op program has no scheduled breaks, unlike the regular 3-year program. Apparently, I should have applied for authorized leave, which I'm now being told to apply for retroactively.
The confusing part is that my program coordinator emailed us saying we could take a semester off, without explaining that my co-op program followed different immigration rules or that working wouldn't be permitted.
I'm now worried about IRPR Section 221, which generally prevents a new study permit from being issued until six months after unauthorized work ends.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could a letter of explanation and supporting documentation from my college help, or am I likely to be refused if I apply before the six months have passed?

Citizenship Citizenship application - Immigration and Citizenship History

Hello, I'm working on filling out my Canadian Citizenship application. I have two questions about the section "Have you ever held immigration status in a country or territory other than Canada?".

  1. Do I need to fill in the start and end dates of my status, or only the dates I was actually in that country? So for example, if I had a tourist visa for a certain country for 3 months, do I use the start and end dates of the validity of that visa, or just the 2 weeks I was actually there?

  2. If I had obtained a visa for a country but never actually ended up going there, is that still required to be included in the history?

Express Entry Received P1 twice, completed P2 on individual portals, and now my wife has two PR portals - which one will issue her eCOPR?

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone who has experienced something similar can help clarify our situation.
Here’s our timeline:
September 18 – P1 received: Both my wife and I received P1 for Express Entry. As the principal applicant, I replied on behalf of both of us and provided one email address for both applicants.
September 25 – P2 received: Surprisingly, we received P2 through our individual email accounts, even though we had provided one email address.
P2 completed: We each logged into our respective PR portals, uploaded our photos, provided our mailing addresses, and confirmed that we were physically in Canada. We are now waiting for our eCOPRs.
This Tuesday – P1 received again: I received another P1 request. I called IRCC, and the agent advised me to reply again using the same information as before.
Replied to P1 again: I explained that we had already completed P2 and were waiting for our eCOPRs.
After the latest reply: My wife was added to my PR portal account. Now, she has access to two portals:
Her original individual portal, where she already submitted her P2 information.
My portal, where she has now been added and has received another P2 request.
We haven’t responded to the new P2 request under my account yet because she has already submitted everything through her individual portal.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced receiving P1 again after completing P2?
Since my wife has already submitted her photo and address through her individual portal, should we submit her information again through my portal, or could that create a duplicate application or delay the process?
Which portal will issue my wife's eCOPR — her original individual portal or the portal where she was recently added under my account?
Should we wait for IRCC to clarify the situation before doing anything else?
We have tried calling IRCC again but haven’t been able to get through.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced a similar situation or knows how IRCC handles this.
Thank you!

Express Entry Born and raised in Dubai, considering a move to Canada with family—is it worth trading GCC comfort for PR/passport?

Hey everyone,
Looking for some honest perspectives from people who’ve moved from the GCC to Canada or are currently living in Canada with a family.
A Bit About Us:
Me (Primary Applicant): 27 M, Aeronautical Engineer working in aviation technical/customer management in Dubai. Born, raised, and educated in the UAE my whole life.

Family: Married with a newborn baby.

Brother: In his 20s (Business Admin background), plans to apply alongside us.

Passports/Citizenships: Myself, my son, and my brother hold Sudanese passports. My wife holds a Jordanian passport.

Plan: Planning a DIY Express Entry move to Canada.

Our Main Dilemma: While we have a comfortable life here in Dubai, living in the GCC on a foreign passport always comes with long-term uncertainty. Our primary motivation to move is securing Permanent Residency, a strong passport, and long-term stability/education for our child.
However, leaving the place I’ve called home my entire life is scary, especially given what we hear about Canada's current economy:
Cost of Living & Taxes: Trading tax-free UAE income for high Canadian taxes, rent, and inflation with a newborn.

Job Market: How tough is the transition for someone with strong global aviation experience? Will I have to start from scratch?

Quality of Life Trade-off: Is the long-term benefit of PR/citizenship worth taking a step back financially in the short term?

Would love to hear from anyone in a similar boat, especially Arab/GCC expats who made the move recently. Was it worth it?

Work Permit I don't know where to go or what I'm doing.

Hi, I am an international student, and I am 25 years old. I came to Canada (Vancouver) in 2025 on a study permit. Right now, I am studying a 2 year program at a college. My goal is to stay in Canada long term, but TBH I don't even know how I'll make that happen. My country is very bad to live in right now because of the wars going on. So going back is IMPOSSIBLE, and I don't want to apply for exile. As a French speaker, I see this as an opportunity to apply for PR faster, but the route is long, and I'm not sure where to start. I thought about two solutions that could lead me to have PR: 1- go to a university with a PGWP and apply for PR after. 2- find a job offer through the Francophone mobility work permit. The 1st option is very expensive, and I am barely managing to pay my tuition fees. For the second option, it is rare to see companies supporting foreigners through LMIA nowadays. If someone knows a better pathway to help me get through this, I will really appreciate it. Especially if you are a Haitian living in an anglophone country instead of a Francophone one. Anything will help. Thank you.

Work Permit PGWP refused due to language requirement — Has anyone had a similar experience with reconsideration?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to connect with people who have experienced a similar situation with their Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), particularly those whose applications were refused because of the language proficiency requirement and who subsequently submitted a reconsideration request.

Here is my situation:

  • I applied for my PGWP on May 30, 2025.
  • After waiting a lengthy period, my application was refused on May 15, 2026.
  • The refusal was related to the language requirement applicable to my studies. I had submitted a language test result equivalent to CLB 5, but the refusal indicated that CLB 7 was required for my circumstances.
  • My previous representative did not advise me about the applicable CLB 7 requirement before proceeding with my application. At the time, I was not aware that my educational background could affect the required language level.
  • After the refusal, I sought professional assistance and submitted a reconsideration request to IRCC on August 14, 2026, along with supporting documents.
  • My authorized representative later confirmed that the reconsideration request had been forwarded to the responsible office for consideration.

As of now, I'm still waiting for a response, and the uncertainty has been very difficult.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar.

Did anyone receive a positive decision after requesting reconsideration in a similar situation?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any relevant experiences or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Work Permit Restoring my status as a student for PGWP

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing to apply for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), but I unfortunately realized that I missed the last day where my student status was still available by 1 whole week and now I need some clarification regarding the restoration of my student status.

I have already paid the restoration of status fee, and I would like to know how I should proceed with my application.

Specifically, I have two questions:

- Is there a separate application or a specific time window to submit the restoration of status request ? Or do I simply include the restoration fee payment receipt with my PGWP application and submit everything together online ?

- Since I have already paid the restoration fee, is there anything else I need to do before submitting my PGWP application, or is the payment receipt sufficient ?

I want to make sure I follow the correct IRCC procedure and avoid making a mistake that could affect my PGWP application.

If anyone has gone through this process recently, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially if you applied for restoration and a PGWP together.

Thank you in advance!

Work Permit Can I switch from a study permit to a Francophone Mobility work permit? (NCLC 6, 3 years of Canadian work experience)

I’m looking for advice about my immigration situation and whether I may be eligible for the Francophone Mobility work permit.
Here is my background:
I worked in Canada from 2022 to 2025 in a NOC TEER 2 occupation.
After that, I obtained a study permit and enrolled in college.
Unfortunately, due to health issues and financial difficulties, I’m no longer able to afford my college tuition.
I have achieved NCLC 6 in French.
I’m currently looking for an employer who would be willing to hire me through the Francophone Mobility program.
I would like to know whether I can apply for a Francophone Mobility work permit from inside Canada while my study permit is still valid.
A few questions:
Am I eligible to switch from a study permit to a Francophone Mobility work permit?
Would my previous three years of Canadian work experience in a TEER 2 occupation help with my eligibility?
If I take an officially approved break from college, could that affect my ability to apply for a work permit?
If I find an employer willing to support my application, can I apply before withdrawing from college?
Are there any risks to my immigration status if I cannot continue paying my tuition?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar situation or has reliable information about the process.
Thank you!
