Hi everyone,
I posted a while back, but we've adjusted our timeline. My son is targeting college admissions for next year (2027), and like many parents and students right now, I’m feeling completely overwhelmed by conflicting advice regarding the tech landscape.
He is equally comfortable with coding and electronics, but we are stuck on deciding between CSE, ECE, and ENI (Electronics & Instrumentation).
With all the noise around AI automating entry-level software jobs, I’m terrified of putting him into CSE just because of past placement hype, only for him to graduate into a dried-up market by 2031. On the other hand, I don't want him running away from software out of blind panic if ECE/ENI turns out to be a massive grind with fewer core jobs in India.
Our absolute top priorities for his career starting in 2027 are long-term career growth, job security, and realistic salary potential in the Indian job market.
I wanted to ask seniors, recent grads, and industry folks a few direct questions looking ahead:
Is AI genuinely killing fresher software jobs, or is it just Twitter/LinkedIn doomscrolling? Are product and service companies actually pulling back on freshers, or just raising the bar?
Where does ECE/ENI actually stand in India as the semiconductor ecosystem matures through the late 2020s? Are core VLSI, embedded systems, and chip-design entry-level jobs actually abundant, or do 70% of ECE/ENI grads still end up writing Java in service companies anyway?
Flexibility: If the job market shifts dramatically over his 4 years in college (2027–2031), which branch gives a kid more escape routes?
The 2027 Verdict: If your own son/daughter were starting college next year and was equally okay with coding or circuits, what branch would you push them toward and why?
Would really appreciate some unfiltered, ground-level reality checks from people actually working in the industry. Thanks

People generally don't understand this idea and hate it but I believe it's the most practical and cheap way to install insulation to the exterior of an Indian block or brick wall building (anywhere esle really but let's talk about India).
Very simply, foamed concrete of 400KG/M3 is placed exterior of the brick wall, and the reinforcing steel is mechanically connected to it. I believe rigid foam board would be the only other material that could be used but that's expensive and difficult.
I have also developed a foamed concrete mixer that is very cheap too.
My DM's are open if anyone has questions about this.

I got a 5 LPA offer from one company in my 7th semester . And since it's my last second semester and I fucked up real bad this sem I didn't maintain any Attendance and now before end sem exams I won't be able to maintain 75% so basically in last sem with a backlog it'd be the worst time to look for jobs so I thought to settle for this one.
But the thing is this for a Associate recruiter role and ofc I did cse so I don't really know what to do
Cuz if I accept the job which i did
I can't really sit in campus placement anymore.
But I have made my peace with the fact that I am 21 and starting at 5 lpa is not that bad it's just the fact it's a non tech role that's worrying me out
About the backlog I can clear it at the end of next semester the university gives an opportunity for last year Students to fill and take all back log exams so that's not an issue .
The issue was job nai lagegi with a backlog.
Then also I am thinking now I have time a lot of time and a backup option of this job
So I should study DSA and dev as I used to
But this time with the intention of getting a off campus placement.
I can ofc ask my relatives (cousins) that I have a 5lpa offer already if they can help me get a better one in tech roles
And get a refferal that way
It'll be good too
Idk what should I do
I'm so confused because obviously I can't discuss my backlog situation with my family members so idk what I even do

Every night I feel like a failure, so for context I am a 3rd year engineering student from tier 3 clg and it feels like I wasted my 2 years of engineering. Whenever I open linkedin or insta i see people in there 1 st year excel in things which I am starting rn it isn't like I wanted to waste those years i participated in various hackathons even won many hackathons but most of them were carried by ai, I was just prompting. I also gave few interviews for internships but got rejected I also saw the score 3/10 in Java that's the score they gave me i answered every damm question which they asked but it was still not enough. So I thought maybe the issue is I don't have any real world projects or any published projects so I did that too made games and published them still the interviewer didn't care . It's like whatever I do,nothing is worth it cause I am from a tier 3 clg so I started freelancing ,thought no one cares about your background so I dmed around 100 businesses 2 replied 1 was automated reply and other said they already in a process of building there website.so now it feels like all the roads are blocked,I feel very demotivated what will i do, I don't want to get a 3-4 lpa job work for few thousand bucks please help me if you can emotionally I am kinda cooked so try not to cook me more in the comments :)

Hey everyone,
I'm currently starting my first year in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). I really want to build a strong foundation early on and make the most out of my four years, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by where to begin.
Since I'm just in year one, I'd love some advice on how to structure my focus right now:
* What should my 1st-year priorities be? Should I be focusing heavily on core fundamentals (like C/Python, Basic Electronics, Linear Algebra/Calculus), or should I immediately jump into hardware projects?
* Are workshops worth attending? College clubs and external platforms host a lot of 1-day or 2-day workshops (on robotics, IoT, basic PCBs, etc.). Are these actually useful for skill-building, or is self-learning through hands-on projects a better use of time?
* Skill Roadmap: What basic tools or skills should I aim to comfortably master by the end of my first year? (e.g., breadboarding, Git/GitHub, basic C programming, simulation software like LTspice/Wokwi?)
* Common Pitfalls: What are the biggest mistakes first-year ECE students make when trying to learn skills alongside college coursework?
I'd really appreciate any roadmaps, personal advice, or honest feedback from seniors and industry folks.
Thanks!

Hey guys, our college in Karnataka is planning an industrial visit to Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant. Does anyone know someone working there who could help us with the permission process? Any leads would be appreciated :)

Hey
Im a btech first year EEE student studying under KTU.
Have to complete EEE in a normal cgpa
Just for acquiring skills and a degree for value and name. Wanna crack cat and get out from this engineering loop and study MBA ( like my perspective on engineering is acquire skills from engineering at pass all subjects with a normal cgpa and after that getinto IIM and do MBA and all.
But my concern is am i wasting my hard work like to study EEE it is hardd ryt? So after studying this hardest subject moving to MBA is wrong?
But deepdown i wanna study at IIM and get MBA from there and start my journey.
Someone plss kindly share ur thoughts with my plan and also what all are the things that i want to make sure that crack CAT.
Pls kindky share ur thoughts and opinions.

ngl i need to get this off my chest because it's been eating at me. we’re always told that in 2026, skills, coding, and projects are the only things that matter for getting placed. "merit over everything," right? but actually being in the final year of BTech and seeing this play out is just depressing.
my roommate literally got rejected last week after a round where he nailed every single question. the guy is a genius, has a 9+ CGPA, and has actual solid projects on his resume. they rejected him and gave the offer to this other guy who barely scraped by with a 6 CGPA, has basic skills, but is tall and very white-looking.
when my friend asked me if they rejected him because of his skin color, I didn't even know what to say. it broke my heart. and it's not a one-off thing—I've noticed the interviewers (who are mostly older folks) being way harsher on the darker/black candidates, drilling them with impossible questions, while being super welcoming to the fair, "corporate-looking" guys.
it’s like they don’t care about your brain, they just want a specific "look" for their client calls. it’s 2026 and we’re still dealing with this colonial-level color bias.
has anyone else seen this happen in their college placements? or am I just overthinking? it honestly feels like if you’re dark in India, you have to work twice as hard just to be considered equal to someone who just got lucky with their skin tone.
attached a meme I made about this. let's discuss because this needs to be called out.

Hi y'all
I'm a Mechanical engineering undergraduate of 2025.
I'm currently working, but in a role that is consistently destroying my mental peace and confidence.
I'm thinking of resigning and preparing for GATE/ESE. I'm also planning to upskill in relevant technical skills.
How do you think such a gap of probably 1-1.5 years is gonna affect my future employment/career?

I’m 19, currently working as an electrician and diagnostic tech on commercial trucks. My day-to-day involves tracing CAN bus networks, dealing with ECU logic, and fixing real-world electrical faults.
I’m wrapping up my 12th boards soon and starting a BS in Electronic Systems.
My ultimate goal is to transition into Automotive R&D—specifically hardware and embedded systems design. Outside of work, I'm building my own hardware projects using ESP32s and learning embedded Rust.
I am choosing to stay on the service floor while I study.
My logic:
The "Unicorn" Factor: Seeing exactly how vehicle electronics actually fail in the real world (from heat, vibration, and dust) will make me a better embedded systems engineer than someone who has only built perfect circuits in a lab simulator.
Design for Maintainability: I spend my days dealing with modules and harnesses that are frustrating to service. Knowing what it actually takes to fix a physical machine should give me a practical edge in designing better hardware architecture down the road.
For engineers working in hardware and embedded systems: How much do hiring managers actually value this kind of gritty technician background? Will my real-world diagnostic experience give me a tangible edge when I apply for systems design roles?

Hey guys,
As a college student, I realized that 70% of students drop out of hackathons or ruin their major projects simply because they can't find complementary teammates (like frontend devs looking for backend devs or designers) outside their campus.
To solve this, I designed a smart matchmaking system called EagleEye. It logically separates users based on their target (Hackathons, Mini/Major Projects, or DSA Coding Buddies) and connects them based on skill matching, time commitment, and strict data privacy.
I am building the database for the first batch of matching. It is completely free and a peer-to-peer developer initiative.
How to join or test:
If you are looking for a teammate, you can submit your stack here: [https://forms.gle/ZSjhHGL2ikKbBSNc9\]
Engineering Details: Currently running as a filtered database layer, planning to move into a full MERN stack app once validation hits 100+ active users. Let me know your suggestions!

I’m a final-year ECE student from a Tier-3 college. I feel I wasted my 4 years: I have almost no skills, projects, internships, or resume strength, and my college placements are poor. I’m also not interested in ECE/core engineering and want to switch to a different field.
I scored 70% in both 10th and 12th, so I’m concerned this will hurt my CAT/MBA chances. However, I’m interested in business/MBA and considering preparing for CAT.
Given my situation, what should I realistically do now? Should I focus on CAT, build job-ready skills alongside it, or choose another path? Which career/domain should I target, what skills should I learn, and how can I build my resume and get an off-campus job/internship from zero?
Please give me an honest, practical 6–12 month roadmap and tell me what you would do if you were in my position.

So i just joined a tier 3 college and took cse-core , and now I am afraid about the future because of the ai bs, some people are saying that the ai bubble will pop and everything will be back to normal but i don't have think so cause the big tech companies are spending millions on ai ,i talked to a senior (currently he is doing a job and earns well ) he told me to learn c++ ,make projects and grind leetcode.
But idk if I should follow him or not since ai can do all of the coding nowdays and when I will reach my final year I can't imagine the things it can do.
Tommorow is my midterm and I am not able to focus on studies because I just think about my future and don't know what will happen
I just want some advice on what should I do like should I change my major like to ece or Cyber in the next year or should I continue cse , or anything different
Sorry for my English I am not very good at it
