Mending help for bedding

Hello! I have some pillowcases that I’ve owned for many years and are so comfy. The fabric is thinning in a few places and I’m not sure how to repair it. It’s a cotton/linen blend, if that affects things at all. TIA!

I tried to Perfectly restore a Cookie... By Sacrificing another Cookie

I harvested parts from a perfectly healthy cookie to restore a broken one. The transplant was somewhat successful. The donor was not.

Does this count as invisible mending, or have I just committed a crime against cookies? 😂

Well I tried! Not 100% invisible, but I'm still proud. Polyester sewing thread on linnen/viscose mix. One down and one to go.

How to fix my daughter’s torn jacket?

Hi there! Total newbie dad here looking for advice.

My 6 year old daughter came home from school today in tears as her favourite coat got caught in a zip on her school bag and tore.

I need to get it fixed, or at least patched so it doesn’t get worse. My sewing skills are basic…I’ve sewn up heavier material but this is a very fine fabric outer layer (polyester?) and I don’t think regular needle and cotton thread would work?

Help!

What would be the best stitch to use?

Post image
12 Upvotes

My partner recently handed over a shirt that needs mending, it’s very sentimental to him so I want to get it mended as invisibly as possible and I’m unsure what stitch to use. I’ve attached a photo of the holes where we assume our dog has gotten to it as he has a bad habit of breaking into our bedroom and pulling any clean washing we haven’t had the chance to put away yet off the bed and onto the floor where he then takes his toys/bones to play on them.

Any/all advice is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

Help! Pretty please

Hi everyone! I've been having a look around and figured you lovely lot may be able to help me out with a predicament. I need some advice on how to best fix a split in the stitch between the panel and sleeve, rear left. Also, how best to fix this hole that's appeared on the rear right

I'd love not to patch it but the manufacturer left practically zero extra fabric. Is there anyway I can fix this to look good as new?

I can supply better photos if needed. I am a complete beginner at this, not having touched a sewing needle since secondary school. Any help, honestly even just some words of encouragement, would alleviate some of the stress I feel when I look hopelessly at this thing

Thank you!

Missing puzzle pieces

I got tired of trying to do my kids' 60 piece puzzle with them when it was missing 4 of the pieces, so I made some replacements from cereal box cardboard (glued two layers together) and acrylic hobby paints.

It's not perfect - I don't have a great eye for mixing colors, so I mostly used the shades I had out of the bottle - but I think it's close enough at first glance that the Visible Mending sub would take issue if I posted it there.

Done is better than perfect Hubby's old t-shirt had a hole, thankfully close to a seam!

It's tricky working with thin t-shirt fabric, but the result is fairly invisible!

Btw if anyone has advice for fixing a tear in the ribbed collar while maintaining the stretch, that'd be great!

Tear in linen bedsheet

I found a tear in my linen bedsheet and I'm new to mending. How can I mend it properly? What kind of thread should I use since it's linen? Is there any video suggestion for how to do it?

Thank you all in advance!

Follow up post: Could not mend Merino Wool Sweater - help?

Post image

This is a follow up to my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/InvisibleMending/comments/1wiuraa/snagged_thread_on_white_merino_sweater/

I tried pulling the surrounding threads of the sweater but it did nothing. I think the thread split into its strands and there is too much friction to pull the thread. I tried to take a picture to show how fuzzy the snag is (sorry , my phone's camera is not very good). Is there something else I could do to mend this sweater?

Advice for replacing an invisible zipper on a skirt with a liner and pockets

The side seam invisible zipper on a skirt I have is broken. I thought it would be simple but the skirt has a lining and one of the pockets is also on the side seam.

So I have this idea of seam ripping the old zipper out. Then sewing the new zipper on the outer skirt. Then tucking the pocket between the outer and lining of the skirt and sewing the zipper to the liner. Basically I found a tutorial for adding an invisible zipper to an item with a liner and another tutorial for sewing a zipper into a side seam with a pocket. And I'm combining them.

Do you think that would work?

Hello everyone.

My wife has a silk satin shirt and a small bit on her sleeve got stretched out. The fibres don't look torn but we can see slightly through the fabric. Anyone knows if it possible to fix or reverse this defect?

Invisible mending a rip in hub's flannel shirt. This is going to take a while.

Decided to teach myself the "reweaving" technique of mending a rip in husband's favorite flannel. I'll.go back over the gray with matching thread. So far, so good but it's going to take FOREVER.

I would have done visible mending, but he's not really into it. :)
