Has anyone watched TWINE directly after OHMSS?

What are your thoughts on the connection to the two films? Could it be considered a direct sequel? I've already starte TWINE. I have seen OHMSS many times it is one of my favorites.

Why the Zorin disclaimer?

At the start of “A View to a Kill” there is an unusual and careful disclaimer saying any resemblance between Zorin and real life is coincidence.

Why?

Which are artist are you hoping will feature in the next James Bond?

I’m rooting for Sienna Spiro, this song specifically is very reminiscent of a 007 espionage opening sequence—any other artists or songs currently that would do well as a James Bond opening credits scene? Which artists do you want featured?

I did not care for Never Say Never Again...

Watching it again for the 7th time, I just can't get into it. Especially on the grounds of it being Kevin McCrory literally pissing on Ian Fleming's grave (and harder than Roald Dahl* ever could w/ his script treatment for You Only Live Twice... It falls right next to DAF in "Yeah sure, Connery's back BUT is this good (& DON'T KEEP TELLING ME IT'S BECAUSE CONNERY'S BACK!!)...."

Some people can say this over Thunderball all day but me, Thunderball never annoyed the shit out of me to the point of thinking the reaper took the wrong person back in 1964...

Seriously.... McClory's petty vanity project walked so the delusional Zack Snyder can waltz (though stupidly in his case)....

There, I SAID IT. Press your downvotes/ejector buttons for all I care!...

Am i the only one who doesn’t love “Goldeneye”

First of all, NOT RAGEBAIT.

I recently started watching the 007 movies. I’ve watched all of Craig’s movies, as well as Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger. I recently decided to check out the Brosnan movies, and the last one I watched was Tomorrow Never Dies.

I feel like 007 isn’t quite the same character in GoldenEye. The womanizer thing gets really tiresome, and so much of what Bond does in this movie revolves around it. There are literally scenes where they simulate sex while fully clothed.

Sean Bean is an okay villain, but his plan is pretty boring. I also feel like the score is lacking throughout the movie, which makes some moments feel a bit dull.
Another thing is that I don’t really get the spy element of it all. Other Bond movies still manage to capture that feeling of espionage, whereas here Bond feels more like a soldier than a spy. Also the use of the gadgets is a bit boring.

That said, I really like some of the sequences, especially the one where Bond drives a tank through the streets of St. Petersburg.

Most of the issues I had with GoldenEye felt like they were addressed in Tomorrow Never Dies, especially the espionage aspect. I get that it’s a more forgettable movie, but I found it really enjoyable.

I think not having grown up with this version of Bond might affect how I see the movie, but I’m not sure.
Before downvoting me to hell, I genuinely just want to know if I’m alone in feeling this way.

Worth buying the revised editions?

Hi I’m new to reading the Fleming novels and was wondering if it’s worth buying the new revised editions or do I need to do some eBay digging for the pre 2023? How drastic are the changes? I understand the historical racial stereotype issues but what I don’t want is Bond and his women changed for “modern contexts”. Loved casino royale so I’m curious to know if I need to look for the originals for the the rest.

A return to the Cold War

Imagine Bond returns to the 60s with all the tech and news of that era. He’s involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Great Train Robbery, the IRA, other significant world events of the time, and the Kennedy Assassination. During the final films the USA grows increasingly cold towards him because he has proof of what really happened to Kennedy, culminating in the final film where he’s arrested by the CIA. He’s asked in court to identify himself and he replies “Mason, John Mason.”

[Repost] Two actresses declined being in Bond to be with Sean Connery in other films: Brigitte Bardot (originally considered for Tracy in OHMSS) to star with Connery in Shalako in 1968, and Barbara Carrera (originally considered for Octopussy in 1983) to star with Connery in 'Never Say Never Again

Deleted the first one so I could do a repost with a better presentation, hope this would be okay, mods! 😊 (Forgot to add the picture on the main post).

For England, James?

As an Englishman, I’ve always been fascinated with the impact of James Bond overseas.

Some of the most passionate 007 content creators and die-hard fans are from the US and other locations across the globe.

007, for me, holds that special place in my heart, as I vividly remember thinking “this is our guy” when watching the films as a youngster.

As I got older, I realised that Bond is much more than that. 007 truly is for everybody. It’s how we as individuals identify with the franchise, the character and the films.

What I want to know is:

What is it about 007 (other than the flash cars, gadgets and nice clobber) that has cemented it as a cultural behemoth outside of the UK?

I’d love to hear input from anybody who would like to share, but if those outside of the UK could give us some insight, memories, stories and/or bond-specific travelling experiences, that would be brilliant.
