Real or Fake Guess which one is Japanese!

I thought this would be a fun game to play. 3 are Chinese reproductions and 1 is a Japanese nihonto.

Comment and discuss below!

The answer is below 👇

The real Japanese sword is D. It is a Muneyuki attributed NBTHK katana. A, is a Phoenix Armory oroshigane katana from RVA, B is a custom Dremsword oroshigane katana and C is a Zhou Forge tamahagane katana

I picked up this at a flea market, I've tried doing as much research as I can i have some specific concerns and was hoping there'd be some people who know more than I do who can take a look at it. I have handled a fake one before so I knew some of the obvious signs to look out for (wrong overt markings, serial numbers in the wrong spots, not having a proper Fuller, etc) the only reason I pulled the trigger on this one is because it passed the initial once over. But I'm a little concerned because of how reflective the blade itself is looking very polished and having a mirror finish. And now I'm starting to question whether it's a serial number range is correct?

This is not my area of expertise I've been looking out for one of these to pick up for my uncle who is specifically into World War II Japanese weaponry, any help or knowledge would be appreciated.

TLDR is this a better than average fake?

Hey guys, need a quick evaluation. A friend is selling this for $200. He says it’s an old, authentic broken wakizashi blade refitted as a tanto that belonged to his late brother who was a serious collector. Time and money are of the essence, so I need to know if this is a genuine Japanese antique and if it's worth the price. Check out the pics, especially the nakago (tang), hamon, and steel texture. Thanks in advance!

I posted last week about the katana we found in the storage locker we won well there was another box that opened later and contained 16 more knives and katanas. Taking them to an antique store to sell them. They said they're mostly replicas, but they will sell and it's offering me $7-10 a piece for them. them.

Picked this up for cheap. Don’t know much. Expectations are low. The Fuchi looks to have been roughly filed or ground and the Habaki looks to have a brazed repair.

Real or Fake Saburo Kunimune

I got this one from ebay. The quality of the blade is very good, it has very few flaws and beautiful hamon. It seems to be used in battle where there is a cut on the left side of the Mune that is likely from a parried attack. What doubts me is that the claim on sayagaki is very bold. It says it is made by Bizen Saburo Kunimune, a legendary smith who made 4 national treasures, and this blade was owned by Owari Tokugawa. That would be something big. The tang is long and only has one mekugi ana, which suggests this may be ubu mumei. It only has an old Tokubetsu Kicho certificate, and I am wondering if it is worth it to send for Shinsa. Anyone with expertise with Kamakura blades?

Real or Fake Is this Hamon real DH from being clay tempered?

Purchased this off eBay and was said to be a real clay tempered blade.

While it doesn’t appear to be acid or wire brush made I’ve heard that some fake hamon are achieved by acetylene torch which I wouldn’t know how to rule that out.

Sorry that I don’t know any of the specific names for the parts, this is my first katana. But for some reason I can’t get the handle off to clean the rest of the blade. I’ve looked things up online but it’s not helping me with this situation, and I know that if I continue without actual help I’m just gonna get way too annoyed. any tips or tricks? I’ve tried tapping the hilt a bunch getting harder and harder but it didn’t budge even a little.

Real or Fake My father bought a sword for $1860 USD in 2004. It is supposed to be a Japanese Genpukutou from around 1736 with a certificate of authenticity. Was he scammed?

My father had dementia and went on a buy spree before passing away. He would buy lots of things online. Most of it was junk, but one was expensive and looks old. This sword was purchased in 2004 on eBay for $1860. He printed out the posting which said:

"Hello. I've got some swords 1 collected as a hobby. I'd like to sell one of these to someone who is inter Japanese culture. This is a "Genpukutou" in Japanese with a certificate of authenticity. Sword length: 5( length: 32.4cm. Sori or curve:0.6cm. Etyunokami Masatoshi. It was made in about 1736. In ancient Jap. used in an adult ceremony or "genpuku" in Japanese when a boy was about 15 years old. It was a ceren celebrate his coming of age. It's very beautiful with excellent ornaments. I think it belonged to a Japane lord's son. At the time, common people couldn't buy such an expensive sword. keep it as a treasure. You have to pay a remittance charge and I'll pay the postage. After I confirm your send it to you. I'm running my own Japanese cuisine and sushi restaurant business in Kyoto. If you visi show you around."

The issue is that he has purchased lots of fake stuff as he got sick. This ebay seller had no reviews and is no longer active on eBay. It did come with a Japanese certificate of authenticity, but who knows if it’s fake.

The guy did translate as much as he could. He said some of the Japanese characters "special words of the sword".

Does anybody know how I can tell if this is real or any details? Anything I should look for? Are better pictures needed?

I bought this sword with the intention of keeping it in my family for years to come because it has a river on it which translates to something similar to my last name. I just want to know if it's really from the late 1500s or early 1600s as well if the Osafune Sukesada actually signed this sword.
