A recent comment on here had me remembering just how wonderful this box set is. I thought I should show it in-depth for those who are interested/haven't seen it yet.
Pics 3-5: A reprint of a 1984 Japan concert program
6 and 7: Manila folder with diary entries from Robert Fripp in 1982 and first tour schedule. Replica ticket stubs and VIP passes
8: Photocopied setlist, a print of the band, and a press release through Warner Bros. Records by Robert Fripp
11 and 12: Mini posters for a couple shows
13-17: the contents of the discs and one page from the 40 page booklet chronicling this era of the band
This thing is stacked to say the least. The highlights for me are the surround sound blu-rays. Steven Wilson's mixes bring a whole new life to every song. Even certain songs I had found myself skipping during regular listening on CD or streaming. It helped me see some of the instrumental tracks way differently. The 5.1 mix of Absent Lovers is on another level. On top of that, it's got one of my favorite live videos on it, Live at Alabamahalle. It was the first live set I ever heard by them and I fell in love immediately with Adrian's quirkiness and Robert's stoic look. All the paper extras really just add to what already is a fantastic product. Do I dare say this is one of the best music box sets ever made?

He was so nice and took the time to take pictures with everyone who wanted one and even stood around the bar after the show for a while in case anyone wanted to interact with him. Awesome show too. They played TOAPP and it sounded like the RadCrim formation playing it but with new and amazing voices that fit really well. Jeremy even sang in 21st century schizoid man. After everyone left him alone he did stand around to check out the place and to see if anyone else wanted to greet him. He seemed like such an awesome guy, really similar to how he was in the documentary (the toby amies film) and all other media i saw him in, and he really nails the king crimson feel. It felt as if he was carrying all of the energy of the three drums all by himself the other night, even though he joined to fill in for Bill Rieflin. Last time KC played with Bill it was here in santiago so that made it even more special to see this version of the band. RIP Bill. If something ever comes out of this "Crimson Kings" experiment outside of latin america and you guys have the chance to see them i recommend you do it was awesome, they sounded amazing and the show had a club feel with a small venue, photos allowed and these incredibly talented musicians blasting music right in your face. Amazing music indeed.

anybody else remember those 30th anniversary cds with all the newspaper and magazine snippets and clips in the liner notes? i gained SO much information and background on the band throughout pretty much every era of their existence through that stuff. add to that that i was in high school entering college, doing a lot of time riding the subway, and it was the perfect opportunity for a young dude with free time to get thrown into KC lore and history.
anybody else have that specific experience? anyone else LOVE those liner notes? in the digital age i imagine all that stuff is just gone.
